When have you ever seen Mark Calloway have a fight?

Tank Abbott has smashed fuckers before. And he did it with no training and all night drinking binges. Abbott ain't a top MMA fighter but he's still kill most people in a fight.

Taker wouldn't even be in the top ten WWE guys who could hope to stand a chance in a legit MMA fight.

Now you prove me wrong.

Meanie got battered by JBL. Bradshaw was killed by Bart Gunn. He then lost to Butterbean. The Bean lost to Ikuhisa Minowa who has a defeat to Mirko Cro Cop on his record. Cro Cop was beaten by Cheick Kongo. Heath Herring beat him and he later lost to Brock Lesnar. Lesnar has one loss on his record and that is to.... FRANK MIR.

Learning pro wrestling will make you somewhat of a tough guy. It's just the way it works. Doesn't mean you're a threat to a real fighter just because you can intimidate other wrestlers.

I didn't say he could be a top contender, just that 15 yrs ago at peak health and with a MMA scene teeming with bar room brawlers and the ilk, that he may well have picked up a win or two. Don't think that is an unreasonable thought.

When was the MMA "teeming with bar room brawlers"? There was one. Tank Abbott. He knocked out a few tough guys and then got killed against top guys with skill.

You are talking hype about a dude who you know has never had anything resembling a fight that you have heard of. How do you know Taker could be beat anyone?

I ain't hyping him. Hang on, are you saying he isn't a tough fighting bastard?

Because I'm more inclined to believe the countless testimonials of his peers in various written and spoken interviews over the years than I am to believe what you say just because you profess to be some kind of expert on MMA and look down your nose at anyone with slightly less knowledge of it than you allegedly do.

Only saying.

Look down my nose? I don't think so. I call out stupid comments. What countless testimonials have you seen or heard where people said Taker has knocked people out?

Tank Abbott has a proven legit record of knocking people out. I go with the facts. You still with the pro wrestling fiction brother.

I don't know anything about Bulgarian economics so I don't make stupid comments about it. See where I'm coming from here?

Nobody is doubting if he was tough. Being a gangster and a MMA fighter are two different things though.

I know plenty of tough guys/nasty bastards. The only one I know for a fact could do something in MMA is the one guy who did - Lee Murray. The rest either tried and failed or continued to play gangster.

Excuse maybe the ill-fitting analogy then, but my general point was that UFC of today is a league above the UFC of yesterday in terms of athleticism, finesse, training... okay you had your Royce Gracies et al, but you also had your chancers and your general tough guys... and what is Taker if not, by most accounts, a tough guy. And a big, strong one at that. I know size means nothing, but I still think, when I remember following MMA and UFC back in the mid 90s (remember Bushido on Sky?? That was shite. I remember WCW's Sarge Craig Pittman was getting involved too, because WCW refused to let Haku do it... bit sure if he ever did though. Still, I digress...) there were guys involved who were little more than pro wrestlers themselves and whatever you may say, you can't discount the idea that Taker may have fared well for himself in THAT environment back in the day, because you just don't know. Neither do I, technically, because it didn't happen, but to flat out say "no, you're wrong, you're a cunt, get back to the fake stuff" is pretty short-sighted when it's only a hypothetical situation.

It grates me how MMA fans are so dismissive of those who know less about it than them, it's arrogant, elitist and even dorky. I never professed to be an expert or state facts from the clear blue sky, just that I wouldn't have bet against Taker back in those days. Just an opinion, and I'm entitled, even if I'm not a walking UFC encyclopedia. I have casually kept up with it since 1995, so I'm pretty confident I'm not clueless here.

Okay, the Barroom Brawlers bit's been addressed.

Taker's skills might be sufficient to intimidate the boys backstage, but that doesn't mean he could stand up to Mixed Martial Arts competition, even when it was "less physically involved."

The inside? Erm.... wrong dude. You have to watch it to be able to comment on it. Pretty simple really.

UFC has become a progression for wrestling fans though. Simply because we don't have to put up with the political bullshit. A lot of the old time wrestling guys like Terry Funk and Jim Cornette all prefer MMA now too.

Heyman is apparently very into MMA. I read an article last week...

The only time Calloway is getting into MMA is when he gets complimentary UFC tickets.

Funny read though.

No doubt its a natural progression, im not gonna argue that.

And once again I only follow MMA very loosely but I would imagine as the money comes so will the politics. It seems to be a natural progression in every sport and I would be surprised (read shocked too death) if MMA was any different.

Hard to avoid in sport sadly.
