Michael Cole works really well when he's with a good partner, but when he's with a shitty one, it makes you want to see death to the existence of sound.

When he was with Tazz, JBL and Mick Foley, Cole was more than tolerable. At times he has been the best play-by-play commentator on one of the big shows. Or at least part of the best broadcast team. With Jerry Lawler, though, who is just redundant with his current "I'm as much a face as anyone" character, there's just no dynamic.

I'd actually replace Jerry Lawler before I replaced Michael Cole. Have John Bradshaw Layfield go back to the commentary desk, if you need to. Paul Heyman would probably agree to another paycheck, and even if the WWE didn't like using him in creative, I think they really valued him as an on-screen performer. Tazz could also use another promotion for the years he's put into commentary. He and Cole were great together.
