Went with Regal by a hair. As said before, they're both amazing wrestlers and all-around entertaining, but as mentioned, Regal's ability to make any gimmick seem legit did it for me.

Actually, for real I just enjoy Regal better. Perfect I think is the better wrestler, but Regal is one of the all time greats of facial expressions and mannerisms.

Perfect wins close. Both are incredibly skilled, entertaining, and accomplished. But Perfect is an all-time guy, and I'm not sure yet if Regal will be.

I'm still bitter about Curt Hennig beating Savage but I can't vote Regal here. Mr. Perfect it is.

My favourite of the two is Hennig. By miles. I think he was a joy to watch in the ring, he had an awesome look, cool tights, worked the Mr Perfect gimmick, which he was given, not something he brought to NY with him, and made it one of the biggest gimmicks in the company for a good few years. His mic work with the Flair/Savage fued was legendary. You can't question a man who was put into promos with Flair and Heenan regarding stick skills. His colour commentary was entertaining. I am totally overlooking his AWA run, which produced some of his best matches IMO. Especially with Bockwinkel. And even his WCW run, where he was fairly injured all the time, but still worked good matches in a shit sandwich of a company, and did his thing well for his tenure there.
Regal though, on reflection is the last great mat wrestler. Especially from England. I saw him work for years for Dale Martins in England, and he was a master of the english style. He is probably the only big named American star who could work puro and do it well. His matches from Japan in the mid to early 90's are understated when you watch them, becuase he fits into the believable ways of Japanese style. He has had great success in America. Not many people could pull this off. Not many people are trained by the great Adrian Street though. For those who don't know, and that will be most of you, Adrian Street is the greatest wrestler you've never heard of. So far before his time with every aspect of pro wrestling. Tougher than anyone also. He has worked comical angles, in a non wrestling capacity, with a non-english speaking sidekick, and gotten it over with his skills, and he has worked rugged tough bastard gimmicks and gotten them over with his style in the ring. The only place Regal suffers in my eyes is his look. At times, he has looked really cool, and like a larger than life character, but mostly, he has looked very generic, which has to be why he is as high on the card right now, as he has ever been or likely to get. So in summation, regal is over in england, japan and US. All because he knows how to appeal to different crowds, in different countries with the way he works in the ring, along with his facials, which over the years have been some of the best in the business, his general manner and his hugely underrated mic work.... I think Regal is the better wrestler. But again, I would rather watch Hennig. |

Regal is very good, but Mr. Perfect is just in a whole other league. Easy choice, Mr. Perfect

Still going with Perfect, I stand by my statement of two people being able to beat him. One is in the hall of fame and the other isn't eligible again yet I don't believe.

I am going to give Regal the sympathy vote because I was too much of a woman to make a decision when it was close
