Of course, but if you're cool with the genre (> me) it's not a problem. I like dungeon crawling with four players, and this game is way better than Gauntlet and more interesting to me than that Blizzard game (forgot the name).

I do agree that a game where Superheroes are displayed accurately would be cool, but certain powers will never work together in a game without an engine that limits them in some way. Guilty Gear and Blazblue has characters that play as if they came from different fighting games, but a strict underlying skeleton keeps the games balanced and playable.

Say this Superhero game has Batman and Superman. Batman plays according the AA engine and Superman uses the 'Returns engine. But how these engines present the world and how you interact with them is very different.

The only way to make and Batman and Superman play true to their comic versions, while making them coexist in one game, is to use some sort of governing engine that will most definitely limit how Superman, Batman, or both actually play. It's unavoidable if you want a smooth running, fun experience.

Take the recent Transformers ROTF game (of all things). At anytime during multiplayer somebody is walking/running, driving, hovering, or flying a jet. Now it would be very difficult, I'd say impossible, to have the car transformations drive like a racing game. And then have the jet transformations play like a jet combat game. And have the the running around as a robot be more platform like and so on. All of these methods of play have nothing on games that specialize in them, BUT this was the sacrifice in order to have a game where all these methods of travel can coexist in one game.

Now imagine a game with the wacky superpowers of comic book heroes! Sure you can have Batman play like AA, Superman play like 'Returns, Punisher play like an FPS - but what you'll end up with is a hot mess you're pull your hair out trying to balance. They would have to succumb to a governing engine, and somebody will get the shaft.

So while Marvel UA2 seems to play to the tune of Wolverine and Deadpool, the governing engine will give Storm, Iceman, and other characters who honestly should be able to do more... the shaft. All for the sake of the engine.
