Not familiar with Tim Schafer's other stuff, but I have heard good things about Psychonauts. I liked Brutal Legend for what it is. A simple action game about metal. Had a blast playing it and I'll trade it in as soon as I finish it because it's nothing mind blowing, but it is fun. EA is another culprit for cash grabs, but they've been doing some things that actually benefit customers for a change. Picking up the aforementioned titles, bonus DLC in Dragon Age/Mass Effect 2, the Rock Band store. It's all been good.
Heard good things about GH5 too, and I'll probably get the game/guitar combo as soon as it's cheap. But yeah, this quarterly bullshit has too go. Not dropping $70 every 3 months for only 5 - 20 songs I'd actually want to play. Bad enough with games like FIFA, Madden and all those. I prefer the way they did it with the NBA Street series. It's every 2 years, so each game that comes out has really meaningful changes and additions. NBA Street 2, V3 and Homecourt are so wildly different from each other, but they are an EA sports franchise. Scary, I know. That extra year makes a huge difference. Funny thing is, FIFA has Live Season, which for an extra $5 or whatever, you get roster updates throughout the season to reflect roster changes and individual player performances. With things like that, who needs an annual game? Work on improving the engine every 2 years and they'd probably sell better too. Picked CoD4 GotY edition a while back. Dunno how it is just yet. Still haven't played. Will get back to you. |
