OWEN ULLRICH has done some stupid things
1996 Curtain Call...
Why did WWF/E make such a big fuss about this. i just never unerstood. It wasn't never that big of an issue to blow up over..i mean i know how McMahon wanted the guys to stay kayfabe at the time. but why did they make such a big deal out of the situation.

HBK- From what i understand he didn't get any heat cuz he already had enough stress holding the company togeather as Champion.

HHH-I understand he was punished but wasnt he already gettin punished before this situation happend...(WM 12 Sqaush match)(Hog Pen Matches with H.O.G).

Sorry 4 draggin this on. but my question is..do u think if this never happend Stone Cold would have never became Stone Cold by winning the king of the ring 96" which HHH was suppose to win that year

I think Vince was more pissed at the fact that someone video taped it and then spread like wildfire over the internet.

Yea way back in the day before the Net and all, WWF would have "odd" things happen at house shows, because they knew no one would ever see it, outside of the people in that market. For example, Tito Santana actually pinned the Undertaker in 1991 at a live event in Texas, weeks before the "undefeated" Undertaker lost his first match to Hulk Hogan at This Tuesday in Texas. It was done to please the large Hispanic demographic in that market. Similar events tended to happen in Montreal with the Rougeau Brothers in the late 80's, early 90's.

Obviously now they can't pull that off because of the ease of it spreading on the Net.

Two of my friends went to a house show in 1998 where Stone Cold faced The Rock in what was clearly announced as a world title matchup, and Stone Cold won cleanly.
He even hoisted up the belt. Obviously this didn't stick, and The Rock was WWF on tv still

Maybe it was a fatal four way for the belt? I'd have to ask them, I wasn't there. I just know The Rock was champion and Stone Cold won a title match against him.

Just checked. That's the house show. I asked when it was and he said late 98. I then asked if it was just Rock and Austin and he said "No, Kane and Taker too". So yea, that's it. He says the fatal four way was clearly announced as being for the title, and Stone Cold won and celebrated and sent the crowd home happy

Talking to him via text right now. He didn't leave with the belt. He hoisted it up and then left without it, similar to how you would see on TV.
But it was clearly stated as a title match, and then despite a clean win over the champion by a challenger, it didn't stick. Total bait and switch

never knew Taker and Kane were involved until now, but that makes sense since they were fueding at the time.
I'm suprised Foley had no involvement since he was fueding with The Rock, and Austin was fueding with Taker.

That's interesting. about Tito beating the Undertaker. i remember somthing like that happeing when i was a kid at LA Sports Arena they use to come to LA once a month back in the late 80's in it was a match between the Demolition and The Twin Towers for the Tag belts and Akeem got a clean pin over Smash. i remember Slick holding the belts up high. but when we returned to tv nothin was mention about it.

At the first ECW show in Jacksonville, FL I got to see Taz VS. Sabu in a non-sanctioned FTW Title match. Sabu won the FTW title but, obviously not the ECW title.

I remember that Sabu didn't fuck up once the entire match, and prior to the match Taz squashed Rhino in under a minute (no-sold the Gore then choked him out).

Good times.
