Though they came out a few years BEFORE the Outlaws. I would consider them them the forerunner to Edge and Christian, much like I considered Barry Windham's run as "The Lone Wolf" the forerunner to Triple H's "Game" persona.

The story behind the Blondes is a good one. Windham, who was Brian Pillman's partner at the time, missed a flight or something, and they had Austin take his place. I don't know about 'inexplicably' since they were both dynamite. The only inexplicable part of their run was seperating them.

The odds were against them. There was really nothing for Austin after the TV title run. Pillman wasn't catching fire as a heel at first. They were more or less thrown together and it worked. Both guys found another gear working off one another. Better than it should have. That was why the were separated.

They threw in Rob Parker, turned Pillman face and Austin got a US Title Reign. He almost got a World title reign before Bad Timing came into play (won't say the name, but his initials were Hulk Hogan).
