I don't think that at the time or since he has blamed the reason I gave for retiring but I am fairly sure that was the reason. I think his official reason was that he wanted to spend more time with his family and concentrate on Manchester United. He has been asked back by McClaren and Capello but he wont come back, not to mention he's nearly 36 now.
