Chris Snyder traded to the Pirates, pending Commish approval cause of $. I think the D'Backs are going to have to pick up all his remaining salary and next year's buyout to get it done.

LaRoche doesn't look like he's moving right now, but after Adam Dunn gets solved, he could be gone too.

Qualls was great tonight vs the Mets, think he raised his stock enough to be dealt.

Kelly Johnson staying.

I assume Austin Kearns is for the bench. Seeing as how Pena, Curtis, and Miranda are holding it down right now, some depth will do.

Now maybe add an extra bullpen arm, we'll be good to go.

Gonna be a boring-ass trade deadline for the Mets. They aren't willing to sell (not that they have much worth selling), but teams are asking too much for them to buy.

I would love to get Adam Dunn and stick him out in left while Bay is out with his lingering concussion (Pagan can play right), it'd be worth the defensive downgrade. Then when Bay's healthy Jerry will have plenty of options to play the hot hand (Beltran-Bay-Dunn-Pagan, Davis could be spelled at first by Dunn too). But I know it would never happen, they probably haven't even considered it.

Did you see what they gave up? Nothing, basically. Tim Collins is probably the only useful piece, and he's with the freaking Royals so it probably won't matter anyway. Farnsworth is having a good year, and had one of his best with the Braves, and Ankiel is better than Gregor Blanco. And the Royals sent some money too.

Varitek still on the DL list but this trade was more about overall depth for catchers since Varitek wasn't the everyday catcher for the Red Sox this year.

This trade allowed Red Sox to send 1-2 catchers back to Pawtucket who is struggling with a depleted roster. At one point in the season, Pawtucket was missing 11 players and played games with barely anyone available on the bench.

A few players injured at a time is normal for a season but not 11 which wrecked Pawtucket. They use Portland and the other minor league teams for specific development and not overall team play which is why no call ups went to Pawtucket.

The Yankees needed to add a better bullpen arm than Kerry Wood but maybe he'll pan out. Change of scenery or whatever.

I would have liked adding a utility infielder. Ramiro Pena has been garbage this year.

Berkman is a nice fit for the price. I think he'll thrive in that lineup. I like the Kearns pick up to. Yankee bench is horrible this year.

Hitting up the Giants vs. Braves series this weekend in Atlanta. Pretty excited about getting to see the Giants pitching staff live in person for the first time. All of a sudden this series will feature two teams fighting for playoff position so I expect to see a great 4 game set.

I agree. But, I can't blame them. From what I heard the Yankees went above and beyond trying to get Soria. They were giving Kansas a Montero package for him. But the Royals said no. They tried to get Downs but Downs was asking for to much as well. Now, why Kansas didn't take the Montero package for Soria is beyond me.

So the Reds surprised everyone by taking 2 out of 3 from the Braves. I assumed that the Cardinals would sweep the Pirates and the Reds might get 1 from the Braves. Part of that prediction was right! Now the Reds get a crack at the Pirates to keep/maintain their lead. The Reds SHOULD be able to put my Pirates to sleep and regain the lead in the division.

Its a good week to be a fan of this division a lot of good games have happened surprisingly.

I miss the days of the bitter Reds/Pirates rivalry. Of course I wasn't around in the 70s when it was at its peak, but the early 90s was pretty intense too.

yes i sided with the pirates back in 90-92 when it was HOT. I remember goin to those games in Pitt and the crowds being very mixed and heated. It wasa great time to be a Pirates fan. My dad was a Reds fan and picked on me and I remember my Grandpa being an Indians fan..which was just laughable to me and him.

I no longer hold the grudges and honestly have zero respect for the pirates..just ya know..a whole lifetime of being a supporter I'm not gonna quit now...
