I will say it's probably a good thing it was Sting in this situation.

A younger guy may have foolishly tried to work around it, getting hurt in the process. Brother Ray probably would have beaten the shit out of him. Sting had the common courtesy to finish the match as quickly as possible, using a shoot pin for good measure.
