The Punk/Hardy feud went to completion and was one of the best feuds in years. What the fuck are you talking about

Agreed. Interestingly enough, I feel that the Punk vs. Undertaker feud that followed was cut short. Personally, I think they should have gone with Punk vs. Matt Hardy, and run with the older brother fighting for his fallen brother's honour -- but they chose to bring back the Dead Man, and while Punk got some licks in against The Undertaker, they teased a lot of stuff that never went anywhere.

Like when Punk, Teddy Long and Scott Armstrong "screwed" The Undertaker (leading up to the comedically great "Buckle up, Teddy!" bit), and it was made apparent that Vince had something to do with it...until it was entirely dropped.

I kind of thought that they were going to do some sort of "Corporation" type angle, with Vince McMahon wanting CM Punk to be the World Champion because of his straight-edge lifestyle and being a "good role model" for the company. I believe Kane was a heel at the time, and a couple of years previous (I know this is stretching it) there was talks of having Vince and Kane connected on-screen. I thought that we'd get CM Punk, Kane and Drew McIntyre as Vince McMahon's heel charge on SmackDown!. We didn't get that, though, and a little while later, it was rumoured that Festus would be paired with CM Punk -- and then we got The Straight-Edge Society.

Thanks for that catch, Iginfest. The man I am certainly took precedence over the fan I am as it relates to this case. This was one of the most tragic events to ever occur in not just wrestling, but in society in general. Initially, I was probably like everyone else, in disbelief. I was so saddened during the tribute special on RAW that next day. Then when the results of the investigation came out, it turned to anger and shock. I'm pretty sure that there is still a divide between those that respect Benoit for his in-ring acccomplishments, and those who loathe him for being a cold-blooded killer.

Not doubting the quality of the feud at all, nor it's impact. I'm just saying that I wish Jeff would've never left the company entirely. Maybe he would have left the scene for a little bit, like everyone does, and come back to kick Punk's ass. It would've worked in this Little-Jimmy-friendly WWE that we are exposed to.
