Wrestling is an industry built on "moments",
Hogan slamming Andre at WM3, any number of specific guys winning The Big One (thinking HBK @ WM12, Benoit @ WM20, etc), The Montreal Screwjob, Lesnar/Show (and Henry/Show) imploding the ring, Punk winning the belt in Chicago and "leaving", etc, etc. MitB creates a "moment" when the briefcase is cashed in. Even a tease gets a big reaction from the live crowd. That said, I can't help but feel that winning your first World Title via cash-in, as is the case most of the time, doesn't exactly lend itself to creating a credible champion. That has to come with booking both before and after cashing in. Swagger was let down by having no build going into his MitB win, he had been doing nothing or jobbing right the way up to Mania, then he's MitB winner, a week later he's World Heavyweight Champion. How can the "mark" audience buy him as a credible champion. That said, MitB can be used to great effect. Look at Edge, his whole "Ultimate Opportunist" gimmick came from cashing in MitB (twice) and Punk cashing in on Hardy started a heel turn and a great character. As with everything in wrestling it's all in the execution of the booking. |

Is there Money in a bank somewhere? Do they make a wire transfer after they win? Isn't it just a title shot on a rope?

If they really wanted to be creative, they could have someone break into the title holders house and pin them.

I think having someone cash in and lose can push them into the soptlight just as easy as them winning. It's the perfect reason for a heel turn and would have fit Bryan nicely IMO. But it can still be done with the likes of Kofi, Ryder later on once the shine wears off, Alex Riley,Zeke or others. Right now everyone thinks it's an automatic new champion. Another idea is to incorporate the other titles into the mix at the MITB PPV. Maybe not in the same type of ladder matches but other stuff like an 8 man elimination singles match with the winner getting the shot. Or a multiple person cage match where the first person to escape gets a shot at the IC belt or something. Then you could spread out the cash ins and have more big pops when the surprise happens.

Or dilute the impact of each cash in?
Two is more than enough. |

It's all about the "swerve". And swerves are really tough for a creative team. We should give the WWE a break! There's nothing better than a twenty second match for the world championship!

I'm certain that if the champion hadn't just been in a match and then put into a compromising position, the match would be longer than 20 seconds.

Exactly Juan. That is a whole lot of my point.
Some people have hammered me in this thread saying I have explained why it's not GOOD for wrestling but not specified why Money in the Bank is BAD for wrestling. Quote:

Hey STD, can you name 10 people who you feel are at least "pretty sweet" in today's environment, in which we are all still fans?

I said it wasn't good enough to become a fan in it. If you're already a fan it's easier to stick with it.
CM Punk, Dolph Ziggler, Vickie Guerrero, Zack Ryder, John Cena, Wade Barrett, Randy Orton (when he's heel), Kane, Mark Henry and Daniel Bryan. Plus you got Tyler Black, Dean Ambrose and Claudio waiting in the wings. Things are looking up for the WWE right now. 1994 was a downtime except for WM10. It was the start of the downturn that nearly killed the company when WCW took over. |

This friend had me in laughter!!!!!.....
I have nothing wrong with Money in the Bank, it's good for wrestling because it's a stipulation match.. Just like TLC and a typical Ladder Match . Nuff |

I guess "it takes one to know one" goes right over Aguakate's non-married head.
