Kojima revealed a few things in a recent interview with Gametrailers and also confirms David Hayter has no voice acting roles in the game. The voice actor of Solid Snake for the Japanese versions in the series wasn't changed though.

I'm kind of annoyed with is being two games in a sense and it all being about big boss.

We are at a point now where its metal gear solid 5 and there was two pop games and solid snake was only the main character of two of them. We spend one as raiden. And now this is more big boss after snake eater and two psp games.

I'm kind of over big boss. I get it. I was hoping this would be a new chapter in the series, not MORE filling in the blanks between snake eater and solid. At the end of the day, all this can do is bridge the gap between 1983 when he wakes up in a coma, and 1995 when he is back at foxhound and goes rogue to outer haven and snake defeats him. How much moe can we do here?

I think one good perk is this game will feature gray fox heavily I bet.

doesn't MGS4GOTOMGWTFBBQ end with an "and Snake Lived Happily Ever After" epilogue, though?

In short, haven't they closed the story and the only remaining thing would be filling in blanks somewhere?

I don't know, my interest in MGS4: John Cena Wins was limited (to a quantity of 0), but the impression I got from about 50 million people was that this was the way it went down.

I suppose we could always have a new Raiden game or something. We haven't had one of those, recently.

Right. I never like Prequels that come after the finale. Snake Eater was Perfect. Gave some insight and back story that set up the finale.

Just feels like this is another Cash grab, like the new Gears and God of War.

If the story is done, Lets move on. New characters in the same series would be great.

Just feel like playing this will be cool, but you know where its going in a sense. And for this to be the game that reivents the series, and goes open world and is the biggest game, only for it to fit in between a few games, seems silly to me.

Ill still buy it because I am a fucking dork for MGS but seems like a weird direction to take.

Replacing David Bateson went down so well, I'm sure the Hayter thing will be just as well recieved.
Obviously, Bateson was brought in at the last second to voice 47 after everyone complained. I'm expecting something similar to happen with Hayter.

I'm not sure why games companies think that's ok. It never really happens on TV, does it?
If a character has a well known voice, you keep that voice for as long as possible. Hayter, Batesons, Martinet and a couple others should all voice their characters for as long as they are available to work.

Seems like this one will tie up the Big Boss arc and "finish" the story, wouldn't be surprised if this game ends with Solid Snake arriving at Outer Heaven, bringing it full circle.

I know he's not the 'bad' bad guy, kinda sorta the hero of the series. I felt his Outer Haven days were not explored and Peace Walker was getting to it, but I never played through that game. If it was covered then I can't imagine what else they can fit in between the Naked Snake and Solid Snake eras.

I'd think they introduce a new Snake at this point to take over the series.

Just carry the espionage idea into a new series. I guess without snake or big boss it's not metal gear...I dunno.

There's only so much you can tell about those two, and Solid is probably dead by now anyway. Big Boss may have stories to tell and Raiden is covered in another series altogether.

I'm betting the logic is "without Snake or Big Boss, Metal Gear won't sell."

Is this true? I don't know, but aren't sales of the first spin-off rather lackluster?

Revengance is going OK considering it was fucked through development. ANd no one likes the main character.

I would prefer a Massive Open World Metal Gear (insert random word for name) seriess.

I think the Metal Gear name alone is good for major sales, especially if they are releasing on both consoles.

I think my opinion of you has just lowered a bit.

Not popular outrage, either. He seems to be the male equivalent of that one girl in (pull random anime out of a hat) who is "cute and spunky" and borderline loli and all the guys inexplicably go crazy for... when in reality she's an overreacting, whiny voiced, pain in the ass and you just want to shoot her, not date her.

He's not anywhere as useless as Hope, though, so I will give him that. And I'm only counting the Big Shell incident; not him being reformed into the second coming of Grey Fox. That seemed more of an attempted apology for making such a shitty character to begin with.

The MGS2 swerve was shocking, yeah, but as a character I didn't see what the big deal was. When he came back in MGS4 and now with MGR he's just straight badass now.

I wish there were a way to see the entire CG sequence before he fights Solidus at Federal Hall, though. It's been over a decade, now. If a shitty Cloverfield monster can destroy NYC and not have a bunch of backlash about the action as much as the stupid Godzilla ripoff itself, we can see an insanely large boat run aground as it was originally intended.

If you wanna talk about first appearance Raiden then I totally get the issues with him, I just didn't mind after cartwheeling down a flight of stairs. Plus it was said that it was an interesting way to see Snake's badassery from a third person angle.

"Most likely it's because it's not the Snake we know. The end of the of the trailer states that 'V' is awake. Now put that into context, I is Naked Snake AKA Big Boss, II and III are Solid Snake and Liquid Snake, and IV is Solidius. Leaving V to be yet another Big Boss clone. At least that's what I think, and both Liquid and Solidius had radically different voices than Big Boss and Solid Snake."

Was just shown a video "breaking down" the trailer, in which the two guys are so completely wrong about almost everything they see.

SPOILER: show

Takes place before Peace Walker.
It's all a hallucination caused by PTSD so none of it is actually happening.
Burnt skin man IS somebody we have met before, the biggest clue is his hat, though nobody we have met before wears such a hat.
Definitely NOT young Psycho Mantis, because Psycho Mantis is older when Solid Snake meets him and that happens in the future.
That is NOT Ocelot to the rescue on the horse, its Zadornov, a KGB operative who Big Boss first meets in Peace Walker and also subsequently kills in Peace Walker.
The structure we see being destroyed is Big Shell, from MGS2. NOT Mother Base from Peace Walker.
The Doctor is from Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake for MSX, which takes place "a decade or two" BEFORE Peace Walker.
The Union Jack really confuses Metal Gear experts.
Big Boss has rocks in his head.
