Luckily, I think the strength in Robocop lies in the corporate themes, commentary, and parody - which seems in place.

While I'm not blown away by the trailer, the promotions for the first Robocop are far from good at getting across any of the humour of the flick. It looked like it was supposed to be a standard action movie. And it wasn't alone. They don't even touch on the hilariously awkward performance of Joel Grey in blackface. Evil Dead 2 isn't quite so shlocky as one might think, given what it's known for: Well, there is the eyeball bit, at least. Slightly funny, but you probably wouldn't peg this as a coming of age story that deconstructs fairytales like a biology student dissecting frogs. Or maybe I'm just hoping that this will actually be good. I don't know. |
