I tend to respect canon no matter the quality, because world building supersedes singular quality in my eyes. So an unworthy sequel I usually let slide so long as I'm seeing my fave characters 'live on' in a sense.
In regard to reboots, I also have no issue ignoring something below par or off the mark of the past movie - because the past movie will always exist. I like the Stephen Sommers Mummy movies, and for the sake of continuity I tolerated the third one that didn't involve him. Now they're busy rebooting it and I don't really see a need to, so I'll not watch it. And on the chance that it's actually as fun as the first two, fine; I'll dive in. *I have bigger problems when certain videogame franchises are rebooted since they don't have the same limitations that force movies to reboot. Splinter Cell's Micheal Ironside, for instance, has no reason not to portray Sam Fisher for another generation of games. The DmC situation was also horrible, since they rebooted off a successful prequel utterly nonsensically. MGSV is easier to swallow, since aside from a major casting switch, the game seems like a solid progression of MGS gameplay. This is why I'm so whatever about movie reboots and sequels/prequels because it's win-win really. Videogames exist to deliver me a gameplay experience, so sudden change-ups in presentation and gameplay arise my ire much easier. *I felt the need to address the videogame part of this to curb the inevitable 'Kalyx nerd rages about games' discredit, which somebody was certainly about to do. |

I don't spend much time in that forum, but I could have sworn you only bitch about games you've already played. Is this a stereotype of you?

There's a few misconceptions about me mostly from people who don't frequent the VG forums, or at best never interacted with me in a videogame. There were some guys who swore I was some kind of super-asshole to game with until they actually met me online, which is good in that I could crush some misconceptions.
There are stereotypes and 'memes' concerning me time to time so I learned to see a certain argument coming. I either intercept it or chastise the guy using an outdated joke or whatever. "Kalyx jacks off to Chun Li," and shit like that. |

What way? They're lightning fast and may likely break me in half. Pain isn't sexy.
Her common depiction of massive thighs is sexy per se, but the Japanese never really glorified that kind of thing so it's probably her signature body image rather than 'give Chun a booty'. It's hard for me to consider her sexy. Cammy's hot, though. Never got overly aroused by drawn or polygonal characters enough to work it to them. Just not wired that way. I remember a guy here who really liked ponies, though. |

I think you really need to define what nerd rage is. At what point does being upset about something become nerd rage?

IMO, when it's utterly irrational and... unjustified.
I suppose the other requisite would be for the subject matter to be 'nerdy', even if the subjects are mainstream as fuck now. |

To be fair to the subject, anytime there has been any semi-beloved franchise of gaming or science fiction of some sort, and people see the name Uwe Boll attached to it, justifiable nerd rage has ensued. There is no "wait-and-see", good faith credibility there.

In Ninja Theory's defense, Enslaved was a really underrated game, and a lot of people still enjoyed DmC, even if most of the hardcore fanbase hated it.

Even before the DmC joke, I found Ninja Theory extremely overrated and totally outside their medium (they belong in the film business if anything).

Don't seem to see it listed in this thread and I just thought of it, so I'll say that there was justification for all the TMNT fans when Michael Bay wanted to make them aliens instead of mutants. (The turtles, not the fanboys.)

He never wanted to make them aliens. The Ooze, however, may likely be alien in nature (which would change all of nothing). And how's this for a head spin: This is exactly the revised origin of the Ooze in the new cartoon show - and that show is hands down fucking awesome. Not because the Ooze is alien, but in a sense that it's a non-issue. They are still teenaged, mutant, ninja, turtles.
And in any case, Bay is not writing or directing the movie. Any ills or praise needs to stop being directed at him. |

“When you see this movie, kids are going to believe, one day, that these turtles actually do exist when we are done with this movie. These turtles are from an alien race and they are going to be tough, edgy, funny and completely lovable.”
I dunno...I am totally happy either way, because this won't ruin my childhood or anything, but if I were working from a script that had the ooze with an alien origin I don't know how I could accidentally say "these turtles are from an alien race". That said, yeah, I don't care where the ooze came from. We never really knew much about it in the first place, except that it turns people into Kevin Nash. |

I read the one where he "corrected" himself, but I don't know if I buy it. Sounds more like a script rewrite than an actual correction, but hey, that's just me.
