Well, I think everybody believed in Ermac since his rumor started in EGM. A guy sent in a photoshopped capture sayain he'd found him

Another one I heard thru the school grapevine was that Sting was hidden in Wrestlemania The Arcade Game, you had to do some impossible thing with Luger to unlock him I think
