Is anyone else thinking...umm...it's a little suspicious that...a no name player was the first guy tested positive? And the fact that he is appealing it because he said he's never taken anything?

I don't find it suspicious at all. People always tag steriods with power numbers - why? You still need to be a gym rat to get big on 'roids. For a speed demon like Sanchez you are taking about quicker recovery time from leg injuries and stuff like that. Of course he is going to appeal - I'm not sure if hes guilty or not but people are going to give him the benefit of the doubt because he isn't huge.

Once my agent informed me that I had tested positive, I then started finding out what was in my supplements. Then, and only then, did I find out about the particular ingredients of this supplement."

Sanchez's suspension began Monday, when Tampa Bay played Toronto in its season opener. Because suspensions for violating baseball's rules on performance-enhancing drugs are without pay, Sanchez will lose $32,787 of his $600,000 salary.

"He did not knowingly take any banned substance," said Michael Weiner, general counsel of the Major League Baseball Players Association. "We respect Alex's decision to forgo an appeal, and he has our full support."

Several substances that previously were available over the counter were made prescription drugs as of Jan. 15 under federal legislation and were added to baseball's banned list. Under baseball's drug rules, the sport doesn't announce the specific substance a player tested positive for. Thirty-eight players were suspended Monday for violating baseball's minor league drug policy. In addition, Pittsburgh announced Wednesday that three of its minor leaguers are being suspended under the drug rules.

No, I would have been saying this last year too and the year before that. Since the Red Sox where much better last year, and the year before that aswell.

I don't put much stock into April that's all. I remember the Red Sox going 8-2 againest the Yankees to start the season and taking a 5 game lead in the AL East or something like that then they ended up being out of 1st place by 10 games. It's early...REAL early. I wasn't going to be surprised with win from the Jays rhough. They had their #1 ace going, not to mention one of the best pitchers in MLB. I could be eating my words but I highly doubt the Blue Jays will finish ahead of the Red Sox when all is said and done.
