We wouldn't be having this conversation if he retired before he went to WWF, though. He was just another decent worker who would have just been lost in the shuffle of time. He would have been mentioned in "Workers with potential who never went anywhere" threads and that's about it.

I'm not saying his WCW run was bad (personally can't say because I've seen maybe one of his WCW matches, if that), nor that he wasn't enjoyable, just that his best work is clearly post-WCW, and I don't think anyone can argue against that.

And there's the problem.

The presumption that virtually everybpdy here knows little to nothing pre-AE simply isn't true.

We all appreciate a knowledgable fan, we don't appreciate a guy that "talks down to us" or goes out of their way to "rub their knowledge in our faces".

The guy you're defending can't just talk about that Hogan v Andre match, he has to go out of his way to say Hogan v Andre from WrestleMania 3 held at the Pontiac Silverdome in Michigan on March 29th 1987 infront of some 93, 173 fans.

We all know that stuff. We all realise that it's superfluous to the point he is trying to make and therefore comes across simply as a way to "show off" this knowledge.

In all honesty I think people find him amusing more than anything.

I'll go pre-quad. Post-quad was a bigger body of work but I don't feel it was anywhere near the quality of pre-quad. He had great matches, but something was off.

Definitely before. His best matches all happened before the injury. His matches against The Rock (Ladder match and Iron Man stand out), against Undertaker at Mania, against Foley/Cactus Jack, against Jericho, Owen Hart, Benoit...

Only real matches that stand out to me post-injury are his 3 Stages of Hell against Austin and the Triple Threat against HBK and Benoit at Mania XX.

Really, the HHH reign of terror on RAW from like 2002-2005 make this an easy choice.

3 Stages of Hell against Stone Cold was pre-injury (it was the No Way Out ppv in Feb 2001).

Pre quad tear.

One of my all time favorite moments, is when Triple H went to town on a casket containing The Rock with a sledgehammer. Been a HHH fan ever since.
