maybe they're not trying to act like they know what they're talking about and actually do know their movies quite well. most of us are young and haven't had the opportunity to catch all of the older movies that had such an impact on film-making. just because modern stuff like the matrix and the terminator aren't on the list doesn't make it pretentious, because most of the movies suggested in this thread should be nowhere near the best one hundred films ever made.

It's a list, just because you watch alot of movies doesn't mean you know what's "good", because that is different for every person.
