I know that a lot of really great movies were made before 1950, but you have to wonder if a lot of those movies wind up on those lists because it makes the critics look "cultured."
And even then, they left off one of the all-time great films (let alone one of the greats of the pre-1950 years) in "Gone With The Wind." |

Err, some of those are questionable. Finding Nemo? The Fly? A Hard Days Night (although I love it) ? If you're going to put odd titles on there, put something like Back to the Future or Ghostbusters (two incredibly solid movies in their own right). No Braveheart? M? Rebel Without a Cause?
Nice to see the Apu Trilogy, Double Indemnity, Miller's Crossing, 400 Blows, In A Lonely Place, and City of God on there. Overall an interesting list. Lots I haven't seen, lots I have. Some odd choices. |

They never said their list was definitive. Its mostly to inspire debate. Movies are objective.

Why the fuck do they always overlook Gojira (1954)?
That film contains one of the best anti-atomic bomb messages of all time. It's a beautiful piece of art. |

God, what a snotty list. Time is trying way too hard to sound like they know what the fuck they're talking about. I see Citizen Kane on every list just because it'll make them look cool. You know what? Fuck Citizen Kane. Fuck Lord Of The Rings. And fuck the Godfather.

Probably about 5 of those movies would make my Top 100, which I hope to post sometime this summer.
