I preffered the radio stations on San Andreas and Vice City. Vice City had Slayer, that is all you need to impress me. GTA 4 doesn't have any songs I liked before listening to the radio.

Is it me or does Lazlow's station (Integrity 2.0) have maybe four segments? It seems every time I get in the car I get the same shit. I've noticed maybe 15 minutes worth of different content, not counting commercials.
I was looking forward to Lazlow but it seems that it's a lot shorter than GTA3... |

I don't think KK actually knows how to drive, if he did why would he be on tpww 24/7?

And seriously, what kind of drugs do you have to be on to think that the driving in this game is remotely realistic?

So what do you do with the cars you get after getting directions from Stevie? Found the first one but then nothing popped up telling me where to take it or anything.

I never said it was a fucking driving simulator. But compared to the older games, this game has a much more realistic driving engine. Each car has its own physics based on weight/suspension, and ride height, as well as center of gravity. Not to mention damage affects driving. That's more effort into realism than any other game of this type has tried to do in the past.

Which, as I said, may be true, but it doesn't make the driving realistic.
Although with the number of people complaining about the driving, I'm more prone to believe that it really isn't more realistic, and that you're full of shit. But whatever. |

Again, I never said it was. I said it was more realistic than before. And it is. The old driving was nowhere near realistic. At all. The engine as it is now, is miles ahead of those old systems. They have taken many steps in order to make driving much closer to how it would really be and feel. While nowhere near how it would be if I really jumped in one of those cars for real and pulled a maneuver like in GTA, it is getting pretty damn close the farther through the series they go.
I'm not trying to say that a video game is the most realistic experience you're going to find, but the driving in this game is fine. If you're going to pull that 'number of people complaining' shit, then I'll go there too. Plenty of the reviews on this game mentioned the driving, and plenty of them agreed that while different it became second nature and they had no problems with it. And I am positive that I'm not the only person on TPWW who agrees with my opinion on driving. Let's just group together all the people who don't like it though and automatically assume that since multiple people share an opinion it must be right. That makes me prone to believe that you're a fucking idiot. But whatever. |

The driving is miles ahead of the GTA3 series and I quite enjoy it, but it's still far from perfect. I could name quite a few things wrong with it (the biggest being that it's a bit too slippery) but it more than suffices.
On another topic, I'm getting pretty tired of people (not necessarily here) saying that it should have had this-or-that from the previous games. These people don't realize that GTA4 is just the base game for this generation. It was NEVER meant to have the polish and extras of SA. If they were using the same engine, yeah, those would be good complaints, but this game, as far as I know, was built from the ground up. Sorry that they didn't spend time on adding multiple-sized Nikos and 1000 different hair styles. They were too busy trying to get the basics worked out with, for example, ragdoll physics (one of the big complaints people had from SA from what I remember) and didn't want to delay the game another year or two to get it to SA standards. As a standalone game, it's complete. Comparing it to the third game of a different series, at which point they had perfected that gen's hardware, is just silly and unfair. By the end of this gen I'm sure we'll be seeing SA being left in the dust, with the kinks worked out and omitting the mistakes they made in the past (IE: Mandatory eating). /rant |

I dunno. I don't expect complete realism, but it would be nice if I could experience some realism when doing anything other than driving in a straight line or crashing. |

I never buy this. It's ridiculous to say that it's acceptable to have major steps back because they were doing X or Y. Also, it really cracks me up, because the "Ground up" argument is brought up so often, and almost 100% of the time, it's not true. |

I'm talking about the petty compaints like planes, (which obviously wasn't a technical issue), tanks, crazy shit (parachutes for example) and a lot of character customization being left out (the latter of which I do admit they could have done more with, but the extent SA had was just ridiculous). |

Why? Because you suck at them, or is there a real reason? The occasional flight is no worse, really, than a crippled car bursting into flames.

The controls are stupid and won't always recognise the bike. The lost seconds can really hurt.

Oh I seeeee. Well that I can agree with. Although, in some of the chase missions, if you can just stay within a reasonable distance of the target and just concentrate on not crashing then eventually they will crash at a set point. Doesn't always work though - generally if you can get within a few feet then you're going to have to take care of things yourself. Or hope there's another crazy driver on the road.

I actually prefer the bikes, but mostly because I prefer the philosophy of maneuverability. It's easier to escape when you can drive on tight sidewalks and through narrow alleys, but when it comes to actually stopping someone, it's not as good. The keeping up part is fine.... When it comes to simply chasing someone down, I'll use a bike. Like the Puerto Rican Connection, or whatever it was called. It was easier for me because I was less worried about any traffic that wasn't potentially a sideswipe. Plus, they handle a little less like ass. Not a whole lot, but enough to make a difference. I know you're fucked if you get hit, but my general philosophy is not to get hit in the first place. It's bad Aiki. |

It's especially bad if the game decides you were going after a moving vehicle or some shit.

Getting back on a bike has never been a problem, getting in the right car when you have caused a crash can be though....a small annoyance though.
I don't give a shit if the driving is realistic or not....it's grand theft auto not gran turismo. |
