I laughed to hard at Silva losing, I woke my baby up... and probably the neighbors.

I have been waiting for someone to catch him while doing that bullshit for awhile. Just like Condit figured out Diaz's bullshit, Weidman made Silva regret the taunting. And everyone is saying if there's a rematch it'll be different, but there's one major problem with that logic. Look at Silva's past fights, he is a defensive fighter. All his taunting (while obnoxious) is used to make guys come at him, because that's his game. He hasn't taken the fight to guys in awhile.


I think if he goes out aggressive against someone like Weiman, he'd get taken down a lot more.

Silva has done more and more outlandish things during fights, over the course of his career.

If he became bored with defending the belt against "inferior" fighters, this would be one reason for him to be silly, seeing how far he could push the craziness until somebody caught him.

The other possibility is that he is always completely in control, and only gives us the illusion of risk-taking, but in this instance he was hit with something he didn't expect, and/or didn't see coming.

He's hard to gage. I don't think he is as cocky as he comes off (although he is really cocky). I think it's a ruse to get guys to come in. This time, he just got caught though.

Anderson Silva is a counter fighter. He is at his lethal best when he is dodging and striking.

Who in their right fucking mind would just bumrush Anderson Silva? Only Gangsters from West Lin would do such a foolish thing. In order to inspire another fighter into attacking, Anderson Silva would drop his hands and taunt people to get them to play his game. He's done it, like Jabba said, for damn near 9 years. This one night, he underestimated Weidman's reach, perhaps his power, and he got knocked the fuck out.

I haven't seen the fight only read things...

And I think Silva got caught while he was being cocky. I don't believe he did a job. If he did throw a fight then he should be fired, but there is no way he threw it.

Well obviously he didn't throw the fight, only an idiot would think he did.

The rematch will be big but I think Weidman can beat him. In the first round he landed some solid punches while on top.

Let's be real though, Anderson went beyond his usual baiting. He was literally grabbing Weidman and positioning him. It's one thing to do that against a shot bum like Bonnar or someone not known for their standup like Maia and another to do that against someone with Weidman's track record.

His post fight reaction was strange too. Basically saying he's not interested in a rematch, but will fulfill the 10 fights on his contract. The whole thing is weird. There's only one real superfight and that's Jones. Outside of that there's nothing for him to do, but avenge that loss to Weidman.

Honestly I think he was pissed that Weidman almost had him in the first round. He was never in trouble with Griffin/Bonnar/Maia. So he wanted to do his thing to the max. He wasn't wanting to get knocked out if that's what you're insinuating.

And a lot of fighters after an emotional loss say irrational things. Why do you believe he won't fight for the title? You can bet your ass the rematch is in Jersey superbowl weekend.

I don't think Silva wanted to get knocked out or even threw the fight. I believe he was just a victim of his own hubris. Just my own speculation, but I wouldn't be surprised if Anderson would actually prefer random showcase fights over defending the MW title though.

Doesn't Fox have the Super Bowl this year? A Weidman/Silva remtatch plus Frankie Edgar as co-main in Jersey would be bananas.
