I didn't think it was actually hating Rey so much as how he was being used. The Word Title run was terrible and so is angle where he goes up against a giant. But when he's against a normal person it's fun to watch again.

There is nothing about Rey Mysterio I enjoy watching. I dont like his costumes, his entrance music. I hate the 619. I understand he can put on a good match and does some nice moves, but I cant take him seriously.

I was shocked as well that WWE made it public. I would think since Rey has a large kid-based fan range that they would have kept it private and just did a fake injury story

I still feel that Rey had no business being anywhere in the conversation about the WHC, let alone actually win it.

He has always struck me as just another Spot Monkey. I laughed my ass off when Scott Hall lawn-darted him into the WCW production truck.

Ziggler might not get the belt directly from Rey anymore, but he WILL be getting it sooner rather than later. It's great how he kinda plays up the fact that he's a "stereotypical character".


And I can see Finlay getting the belt, and losing it to The Zigster due to interference by Sweetums.

This is very true. I would also keep Matt Hardy and John Morrison in mind as potential winners of the IC Title on SmackDown!. With Hardy seemingly getting nudged aside for Taker, despite having a logical feud with CM Punk over the World Heavyweight Title waiting, I can see Hardy winning the IC Title as a sort of "we haven't forgotten about you" present. Especially since Michael Hayes loves Matt Hardy.

I'm with thedamndest and Juan on this. Rey Mysterio has been pretty fucking good lately, and his reigns with the IC Title have done a lot to raise the belt. It's no longer a mid-card title, but an upper mid-card title, which is fantastic when young guys like Ziggler eventually win the belt. And I'm actually glad that the WWE have made Ziggler work for his reign. They haven't just thrown the IC Title on him because he's a rising star. This was scheduled to be his third PPV match against Rey Mysterio, and it was going to be a good moment when he won the IC Title.

And Ziggler is fantastic, by the way. He's got one of the better and more thought-out characters in the WWE. The SmackDown! writing team is taking good care of him. I've seen potential ever since "Nicky," and I'm craving a feud between Ziggler and Undertaker over the IC Title. That would be epic.

I love the way he yells "COUNT IT!" after his elbow drop. I just wish his finishing move had a name. I was looking forward to seeing Ziggler slap Rey in the face to spin him into that move, too. In 30 days, I hope for more Ziggler/Mysterio matches.

Ziggler made me remember what i thought about morrison and miz when they first showed up in WWE. Couldn't stand either of them at first...but they grow on you. Plus Ziggler's theme is Perfection. Hope it's on the next CD.

How I hope they handle this IC Title situation:

* Matt Hardy wins his first Intercontinental Championship on Superstars when he pins Rey Mysterio in a fast-paced Triple Threat also involving John Morrison. The babyface dynamic is unusual, and something I could see being fun.

* Theodore Long announces Rey's suspension on SmackDown!, Rey apologises and whatever, which brings out CM Punk who tears into Rey Mysterio, mocking Long calling him "The Face of SmackDown!." Punk could even bring up how Rey is doing to himself what Eddie Guerrero used to do. Rey and Punk get into a fight, and Long announces a match between them.

* Matt Hardy is pissed off at Punk for how he exiled his brother from the WWE, and the disrespect he showed Jeff afterwards, so Matt also wants to get his hands on Punk. The main event is changed to Punk & Dolph Ziggler vs. Matt Hardy & Rey Mysterio.

* Rey gets pinned by Dolph Ziggler in the main event, and CM Punk then goes to elbow city with Rey, as Ziggler takes out Matt Hardy.

This really sucks. I was looking forward to the big blow off at breaking point. As mentioned earlier, Mysterio has been incredible with his IC title run. Hopefully he learns from this, especially considering what's happened to some of his closest friends.

This is exactly it. The handling of Mysterio after he won the 2006 Royal Rumble was a bit ridiculous. They made him look like an idiot, and like someone they didn't trust in the main event. If they had just done Kurt Angle vs. Rey Mysterio at WrestleMania 22, things would have been sweet.

I've always been of the belief that a World Champion should be the top guy of a promotion -- and should be treated as such. When Rey Mysterio was World Heavyweight Champion, they kept putting him over as an underdog. If a man is good enough to have won the World Title, he's not a fluke. They should have put Rey over as pound-for-pound the most talented man in WWE history, as his size provides a case for that. But alas.

Does anyone think the WWE would do a storyline where it would ultimately be revealed in a couple months that it was Ziggler who planted whatever Rey got caught with so that he could get Rey out of the picture and win the IC title since he wasn't having any luck actually beating Rey for it?
