Vito, Reyes is gone. You don't have to defend him anymore.

Lol you are pathetic. If Reyes wasn't a Met you would be ripping him.

And you are most negative person ever. You bash the Mets for everything, but yet you won't say anything bad about a total bush league move by the Mets best player?
C'mon now |

I honestly can't predict who's going to win each Series and who will make the World Series...it's THAT unpredictable.
All 8 teams have a great shot. |

Yeah, this feels like the first year in quite some time where it's wide open. Phillies are even money favorites but it's really a toss up. Expecting to be dead wrong on my predictions.

I've already said it was a bad move on his part, because almost everybody at the game went to see him. Some people probably got to their seats late and missed seeing Reyes' likely last Mets game.
As far as the batting title goes, I'm not too bothered by it because he's hardly the first guy to do this. And it seems like a silly award for him to get worked up about in general, batting average is nice but hardly a huge achievement. It'd be more impressive had he not missed about a month's worth of at-bats. |

I'd love to see Yankees vs. Arizona, with Mo closing the door on them FINALLY.

If Buck Showalter ever managed a GOOD TEAM, with a lot of money, big time free agents and the like, he'd be a multi-World Series winning manager. I love him.
All the teams he manages become winners and go to the World Series after he leaves them. Yankees, D'Backs, Rangers. Hopefully the same will happen in Baltimore. It's clear the man knows his baseball and does something right. |

Showalter got the wrong team with the $205 million comment (Yankees at $205, Red Sox at $161 and 3rd behind Phillies at $172) but he's mostly right.
Showalter's problem is peaking with a team and then not able to do anymore such as putting the stones in place for the Yankees eventual dynasty in the late 1990s with Torre. Same with the Diamondbacks winning the title the year after he leaves. Only team it didn't occur was with the Rangers but that could be more to how bad the A-Rod contract hurt the team money-wise. |

Yeah, having a rookie pitch Game 1 of the ALDS is a gutsy move, but then again, everything has been going right for the Rays as of late, so, who knows?

Well, it's been a long, good run.
You'd think he'd have more of a leash, especially since he's won two Titles, but... |

Cubs should get Francona, Palpebon, C.C when he opts out and Prince Feilder.

Matt Moore gets the start for the Rays in Game 1 with all of one Major League start under his belt.

Francona is a solid manager, but it was time to go in Boston. It was like Torre here, just time for a new voice.

I don't blame Tito for the collapse, but his laid back attitude did not help in the stretch run. The front office was not prepared with enough pitching for the second half and they were caught with their pants down.
The intensity of baseball in Boston finally ate up Francona. I just can't think of a possible replacement though. Part of me wants to see Schilling or Varitek become the new skipper. |

Varitek might work, but he would need to be removed from the scene for a couple years, like Girardi with the Yankees.

Going to miss Francona but at the same time changes were going to be done because of how bad the season ended.
Some damaging reports about him loosing control of the clubhouse for at least the last 2 years and the players almost not even caring in terms of conditioning and focus. The worst being the pitchers being too laid back and drinking instead of resting or conditioning themselves for the next start. Also expected to be fired is at least the pitching and conditioning coaches with the 3rd base coach also a possibility. |

So Francona is out, huh. Well, that's part of the problem out of the way.
I'm wondering who in the managers pool gets an interview with that team? There's a few open spots right now around the league. |

Frank Wren fired Parrish as Atlanta's hitting coach and said Lowe will be traded or only be seen in bullpen duty.
Next year is sounding better already. |
