In Vince's lifetime and after
If he quits before he goes, or if he stays on till he goes....
Within his lifetime as "head" of what we are seeing and generally the guy who everything goes through, do you think we will ever see a non PG era again, harking back to 1995-2001, dare I say it the attitude era. Also, who do you think will take over his role? Not necessarily on TV, but in general as the head of it all. But yes, also, do you think they will come on TV like he does also? ![]() |

I think so. You often hear that old statement that the wrestling business is cyclical. I have no doubt that when the stars align, Linda McMahon's either well established or has stopped trying, and John Cena stops being marketable -- you'll see the appropriate changes to keep up with the times.
Triple H and Stephanie McMahon will no doubt take over, and I could actually see Stephanie McMahon taking the occasional on-air role as WWE Chairperson. And when he's retired, I could see Triple H playing a constant on-air authority figure role. Future General Manager of RAW, mark my words. |

A responsible parent does not look at the WWE as something that can teach its children good morals. The Bellas are still on the arm of a different guest host each week, despite being labelled as "sexy, smart and powerful." The women are still two-dimensional male fantasies, and the problems are still solved with violence rather than intellect and logic. It may be good to have characters that children can relate to and get behind, don't me wrong -- but when the product finds itself betraying its very roots and becoming a paradox in standing against concepts it is based on, it becomes hard to follow. |

if u look back at where this all started minus the divas who no1 would give a shit about either way this is wrestling back to its roots i mean wrestling was in county fairs and it was something father took their sons to and wwe is recreating that in this age imo

PG has worsened the product in that the writers had a knack for writing really good edgy programming. When it comes to PG, they are pretty attrocious. (See R DX vs. PG DX. Just one example.)
PG is obviously not to the writers strength. However, you CAN put out an amazing product under a PG rating so I guess I'd blame the writing more than the PG restriction. |

Next paragraph, you say that we can blame the writing more than the PG, which is more correct. WWE started hiring hollywood writers a few years back, moving away from guys with wrestling knowledge and experience, and so that's a major change that would impact the writing more than any restriction on content. I can't prove it, but I'm fairly well grounded when I say I bet they'd write just as bad if they were allowed to write TV MA or similar. |

I think if you're sub 16, it's a great product. Which is pretty near their target these days. It has only worsened the product for the guys who have been around for ages. But you can just feel the energy within the crowd when the NXT guys show up and go the closest thing near to the Attitude era we've had in years.
I guess you could argue how Orton is too. I just can't help but think having PG writing for him is holding that characters true potential back. |

Orton's pretty one dimensional. It's an enjoyable dimension, but I'm pretty sure the biggest thing holding Orton back is Orton.

I wonder if asking for a cigarette from a kiddy rammed fan line is holding him back.
Linda frowns, I'm sure. |
