Who should NOT have been made the champion?
Since we had a topic about people that should have been champions, I felt we should have a topic that covers the opposite: Who was a champion (any champion) that simply didn't deserve it
(examples could include: Not a good wrestler, wrong gimmick, too soon, etc) So far, the only one I have is: David Arquette (self-explanatory) ![]() ![]() |

Honestly, R Truth as US champ should have never happened. His work up to to that point had been no more than average, and he only kept it for what a week? maybe 2? Their was no point for it.
I actually feel it's a shame though as I was a fan of his during his time in TNA and when 1st informed of his arrival in WWE I had high expectations. But he was more or less buried. |

A lot of Divas but it's understandable especially with two belts.

Why not? He's decent in the ring and hugely "over" with the crowd. What's Up?

Ric Flair winning the IC belt. He was already old, boring and washed up when he won it. I feel his 16 World titles should have been enough. When he held the IC title I felt he was taking away from the younger guys instead of trying to give back. He didn't need or deserve the IC belt in my opinion.

Kane. I mean they let him hold the belt for 24 hours. He is the star of many jokes because of this. It would have been better he not held the title at all.

I agree totally Schlomey... It's absolutely horrible that VKM & CO. haven't let him hold the title for a good reign...

His character has never been about world titles or any title for that matter. He was blessed as tag champion with his brother Undertaker which serviced a few good storylines...But yeah, Kane didn't need and doesn't need a title to be relevant.
He realizes this it seems so good for him. |

He is the best worker and gets everyone over, and I am sure VKM pays him very well to do so... Probably the best example of this...
Then you have guys like the Goldusts, Finlays, Malenkos, Snows, Blackmanns, etc... They all worked their asses off too... |

I don't count Arquette cos that's a fucking joke not to be believed.
Khali, Mysterio, Big Show, Batista (pretty much all times).. fuck even McMahon himself, although it did suit the feud and that was just mega over back then and it was 6 days!, Backlund in 94 too. In recent times, Seamus and Swagger's reigns came too early imo. I'd have loved Miz in the title frame more than Seamus, especially with his mad "streak" thing with Cena a while back. That built him up nice. Seamus is not bad at all, just feel it was "rushed" and well ahead of time. Swagger, well, I like him, but I think there's not enough interest in him. |

Kane hasn't had a "push" in what feels like ages. Last time he got TV time was when See No Evil was coming out and honestly it was a big wash. May 13th anyone?
So yeah I 'm not a huge fan of his current schtick but glad he is getting time to be in a role. |

Swagger would have been better off winning money in the bank, cashing it in and LOSING & then turn this massive heel attacking the champion ....that way he would have had some massive heel heat before an inevitable title run....not that out of the blue (Superstars) title reign.

If you believe the IWC:
John Cena, Triple H, Big Show, Undertaker, Kane, Rey Mysterio, Jeff Hardy, The Rock, Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior, Khali, and anybody currently holding a title because he's not Daniel McBryanson. |

Mysterio's first run was a sham. If they weren't going to do it right, I would have preferred them to not have done it at all.

JBL - just because he's one of Vince's old boys, Bradshaw gets the push of the lifetime seemingly out of thin air. It seriously seemed like it happened over night. One minute he's this fat, Texas redneck in a cowboy hat carrying a cowbell on a rope, and the next he's this slick New York asshole who can actually talk. Anyways, as much as I enjoyed JBL from time to time, I never felt he deserved to carry the WWE Championship; especially considering he took it from Eddie Guerrero. Imagine if it had been Eddie as Champion against the rising star of John Cena? A heel Latino Heat and a still-hot Cena? Yeah. That should've happened.

Maybe but the thing with Lesnar is that he got insanely over in a very short amount of time. They booked him to be dominant from the get go, going over the Hardys, RVD, etc.
It's not as if he entered the title picture without any heat form the crowd or any buildup, unlike Sheamus and Swagger, who were just inserted into the title picture at the most random of times. |

This. I don't get how anybody could say he was pushed too quickly when he was not only put over legitimate talent, but actually got over with the crowd PRIOR to getting the title.

However, Brock WAS a breath of fresh air at the time and he delivered. He showed incredible in-ring psychology, physical ability, and athleticism in all of his matches. He had the look that was menacing and intimidating. He had a finisher that was unique and devastating. His intensity was unrivaled. I don't agree with the person who said Brock shouldn't have been the champion. Last edited by Providence Peep; 07-16-2010 at 01:16 PM. |

He did get lazy in WCW because he could be. He could talk & get over with his gimmick. Once the writing aspect got lazy he never really did step it up. Dunno why other than you may be correct that he is just lazy all together. In TNA I haven't seen him wrestle yet. He still looks damn good as of last night and am enjoying seeing him come out with some actual emotion and not that "is he high" look all over his face. Time will tell if he gets into it again or not. It's take it or leave it for right now. But saying that he shouldn't have been champ in WWF is what I disagree with. As a child I could not have agreed more with the WWF's decision to put the title on him. Re: Yokozuna - He was over. Big time. He had a hated heel manager and the biggest mouthpiece in the company behind him in Jim Cornette. He made a good monster trans champion. Glad he never held the title as a face because that could have and would have been a train wreck. But for his time period and his character it was the only perfect timing for him to get a title reign in in his life / career. |
