If Taker hangs his boots at 30???

Would Wrestlemania still be a success in the future?..

I hope taker stays undefeated a few more years. I wanna see him in Mania matches against Brock Lesnar, Daniel Bryan, Ryback, Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, and John Cena. Even a Sheamus mania match would be classic. Obviously all of these won't happen, but 3 or 4 of them would be awesome. Only expect 1 or 2 more though, Lesnar and/or Cena.

Unfortunately, 22 is a shite number to end his streak on. Should have done it on 20, next logical one is 25, and I don't wanna see four more years of an old, withered, broken down man taken the spotlight from guys that could really use it.

No disrespect to 'Taker, just saying, he's had his run and it's time to let new talent shine.

Besides, Undertaker built Wrestlemania. Hell, it's named after one of his most famous catchphrases. Nobody's going to be able to carry the legacy of Takermania.

I'm so over the Undertaker. He comes back for these half ass programs before Mania that lead to these predictable matches where he gets his ass kicked for most of the match before coming out with the win and disappearing for nine months again. The streak was cool when it was like "oh damn, Taker is undefeated at Mania, what a surprise," but now that the WWE's lazy ass writers basically build his return and programs around the streak and we know the streak won't be broken it's just boring.

I have a solution: Championship Tournament! Taker is able to get win #22 against Heath Slater in round 1, #23 against Ryback in round 2, #24 against Dean Ambrose in round 3, and #25 against Cena in the final. He then retires in front of the smark crowd the following night.

Wrestling once an hour (the first two being squash matches after someone attacks Ryback from behind and softens him up) shouldn't be TOO hard, and could really draw the buys.

Maybe "22" has some importance to Mark Callaway.

Maybe he wore #22 when he played basketball or something.

Not sure why everybody wants him to retire next year. His match with Punk showed he absolutely can still work a big WM match and then TV or another PPV now and again when the situation warrants it.

I can definitely see him making it to his 25th WM match.

Being from Baltimore, I kind of liken it to Cal Ripken's Iron Man streak. Yeah he was a Hall of Fame player for stretches of his career, but for the most part he was kind of meh. Toward the end he really didn't deserve to hold his spot on the roster, but he's Cal Ripken and he puts asses in seats.

Taker is sort of the same way. As much as I don't even really enjoy his matches anymore, I think a lot of people would be pissed if he got sat or didn't get to retire on his terms. He was very loyal to the WWE. He didn't jump ship to WCW when the dollars were high. He's probably the only leftover from the WWF comic characters kind of era too. He puts asses in seats. So they'll let him go as long as he wants.

I've been saying this. Especially if he gets to work with different talent, like he just did with Punk. Sure Punk didn't win, but he had a high caliber match with the Undertaker at WrestleMania and proved he could stand toe to toe with him. If he can keep putting on performances like every mania he's been in since 23, I say keep em coming.

This.

The matches are predictable now. It's just both wrestlers kicking out of each others finishers for ten minutes in a match where we know Undertaker will win. After a Hell in a Cell match with Triple H, featuring Shawn Michaels as referee, there really isn't any big, high-threat factor to any of his matches anymore. And as CHT said, the feuds are basically built around the streak now. There's really nothing exciting about it anymore, especially since once it's done Undertaker vanishes again.

As I've said, huge respect for 'Taker, but I just don't care anymore. His matches take away too much time and spotlight from people that are in their primes now and could use it. He's had 21 matches for Christ's sake, does he really need to keep going?

Fuck that. The entire Wrestlemania 30 card should be one continuous gauntlet match where Taker wrestles 9 opponents over 3 hours. For purposes of taking a rest, one match will be a Last Man Standing Casket Match where you have to shut your opponent in a casket for a ten count in order to win; since a nine count in a regular Last Man Standing match takes about half an hour, this will afford plenty of time for recuperation. Another will be a falls count anywhere match where a 20 minute segment involving Taker and his opponent going backstage and into the parking lot will be pre-taped and shown on the Tron. After winning every match Taker can then retire at a sensible 30-0.

Nah, I think this past WrestleMania was the final one. I mean, 21 is a pretty important number for me. Almost as important as 18

I can definitely see him making it to his 25th WM match.
Health is the biggest issue considering this year it took him longer to recover and get back into the Mania cycle.

Also have to remember the Punk-taker program did come a bit close to getting scrapped because of the doubt regarding Taker until he finally showed up.

It's a cycle. In three years, we'll be back to people talking about how he can go better than most of the young stars.

I'm assuming he'll still be wrestling, of course, but if he can hobble to the ring, they'll go back to praising him.
