WWE taped this week's episode of WWE SmackDown tonight. Here are the results:

* Dark match: Darren Young and Titus O'Neil defeat two local wrestlers.

* Dark match: Big E and Xavier Woods defeated The Ascension.

* Daniel Bryan kicks off SmackDown with an in-ring promo. He talks about WrestleMania 31 but is interrupted by Bad News Barrett, who insults Bryan and Dean Ambrose. Ambrose comes out and they brawl. Bryan picks up the IC Title belt and handed it to Barrett but just to distract him. Ambrose and Bryan double teamed Barrett. Barrett dropped the title and ran off, leaving Ambrose and Bryan to celebrate with the title.

* Dean Ambrose defeated The Miz. Barrett came through the crowd to get his title back.

* Renee Young interviews Ambrose backstage.

* Natalya defeated Naomi. Tyson Kidd, Cesaro and The Usos were at ringside and fought.

* Lana and Rusev came out for a promo to mock John Cena. Jack Swagger interrupted but Rusev ended up beating him down. Rusev put Swagger in The Accolade as the Russian flag dropped over the ring.

* Daniel Bryan vs. Bad News Barrett is next. R-Truth was on commentary and ended up stealing Barrett's title belt. Bryan got the win with a running knee. After the match, Barrett looked around for his title but had no idea what happened to it.

* Byron Saxton interviews Roman Reigns backstage.

* R-Truth finds Ambrose backstage and gives him the IC Title belt.

* Fandango defeated Curtis Axel. Axel now has a clock that shows how long he's been in the Royal Rumble.

* Bray Wyatt cut another mysterious promo on The Undertaker.

* Goldust defeated Adam Rose. Stardust was dressed as one of the Rosebuds and attacked Goldust.

* Ryback, Erick Rowan and Dolph Ziggler defeated Kane, Big Show and Seth Rollins when Ryback hit his finisher on Rollins and pinned him. Ryback got the biggest pop of the match.

Multi man Ladder Match for the IC Title wouldn't be a bad thing. Sort of like a replacement MITB match. Just, Bryan doesn't seem right for Bryan.

Hopefully this was just to give him something to do on TV.

This thing with Axel is great in terms of giving him something to do. However, did they forget he went over the top rope on Raw via Ambrose? That plothole will annoy me.

Also, an issue with this IC picture is that there's a couple of the guys that could do with the so at Mania. Could Ambrose afford another loss on PPV? Does Ziggler need the win having lost steam progressively since Survivor Series? If Bryan is in the match, will the crowd accept him not winning, having already dropped down the card? Wade is fresh back, losing non-titles matches every show, can he afford to lose with the title on the line?

Why the fuck is Bryan in the IC Title scene? Beyond stupid at this point. OK, granted, Bryan should want to be a champion and should want the IC Title if he can't win the WWE World Title, but he should have a personal issue at WrestleMania. But the company has no real top heel that isn't tied up to give Bryan the time of day. Oops. The IC Title scene should be resolved with a tournament to decide Barrett's true contender at WrestleMania. Dean Ambrose, Dolph Ziggler, R-Truth, Daniel Bryan, Heath Slater, Jack Swagger, Fandango and, fuck it...Goldust (?) can be involved.

* Ambrose vs. R-Truth

* Goldust vs. Fandango

* Ziggler vs. Slater

* Bryan vs. Swagger

Truth hypes up the first round match with Ambrose by stating that Ambrose disrespected him by helping him against Bad News Barrett. It means that Ambrose doesn't sweat Truth being in contention with him. But now Ambrose is going to get got. Truth plays heel, but Ambrose wins decisively with Dirty Deeds.

Goldust uses his experience against Fandango, but Stardust costs his brother the match and Johnny Curtis advances to the show where he defeated Chris Jericho.

Ziggler and Slater actually have a good match, with Ziggler sort of toying with Slater, but it actually costing him some ground. Slater even steals the Zig Zag at one point, but it only gets two. Ziggler battles back and wins the match cleanly to advance.

Bryan and Swagger work a big man/little match match, with Swagger being the dominant one, but still remaining a face, technically. It comes down the YES! Lock vs. the Patriot Lock, and Bryan's submission wins out. Swagger and Bryan shake hands after their great match.

Ambrose forces Fandango to submit to the Crossface Chickenwing, and Rosa Mendes leaves with Ambrose instead of Fandango, because Ambrose is just that sort of guy. This allows Johnny Curtis to move on from the Fandango gimmick in time. He enters the Battle Royal to try and impress Rosa and prove that he's an alpha male here in the WWE.

Ziggler and Bryan tear it up, but Bryan gets the clean win and moves onto the finals against Ambrose, where he loses once Sheamus returns and makes Daniel Bryan his target.

Fandango has sort of turned babyface on the shows nobody watches and this Axelmania angle seems to be a bit of a comedy jobber role. Axel likely won't win a single match until Mania and then everyone will gang up to throw him out first or something. Then somebody with no build will win and be promptly forgotten about.

If you think Daniel Bryan being in the IC Hunt is stupid why are you booking him in it in your scenario?

I think the announcers sort of set up an inkling for an idea that at WrestleMania John Cena and Daniel Bryan will face off. They are both coming off big losses and need to prove themselves back into the main event scene.

That, too. This little gimmick he has going on right now isn't really something that requires him to win matches anyway. It's a silly gimmick where a jobber is claiming rights to the main event at WrestleMania. Just because he has a thing going on with his character doesn't automatically mean it must translate to wins.

Cena vs. Bryan would be the best. Have Rusev defend the US Title against someone else. Rob Van Dam could be brought in to challenge Rusev. RVD has a bit of a streak at WrestleMania, and Rusev could end that with a submission. The WWE could beg Chris Jericho to work the date if he is available. The US Title is the only thing he hasn't won. Jack Swagger could find inspiration from Hulk Hogan, come out to Real American and win the title at last. Ryback could have been molded into a contender. Have Dolph Ziggler earn a US Title shot. Fuck it, bring in The Rock and play off their previous encounters.

Because he's in it now. And because it would make sense that a guy would want to be a champion. But they should have put Bryan in a tag team with Ziggler against Cesaro and Kidd if they wanted him in a mid-card title match.

The truth is, Bryan should have had a personal issue all set-up and waiting for him. Even Seth Rollins mocking Bryan and reminding him that he has a shot whenever he wants, and inserting Bryan into the Rollins vs. Orton program would have been something. You could have it for the Money in the Bank contract, so that fans can still dream about Bryan possibly ending up in the main event of WrestleMania -- taking on the winner of Brock vs. Reigns.

Fandango needs to be looking good because he actually has potential. A fuckton of it. It seems like they've subtly turned him face and losing to a jobber like Axel is ridiculously counter-productive.

And again... Axel's "re-invention" is a jobber gimmick. It isn't exactly something that requires him to look like a beast to pull off. It's silly. He can lose left and right and still claim being the rightful number one contender to the world title. Fandango should be working his way FAR past Axel.

Listen, I'm not one to give WWE booking credit, but it's been a few weeks of him feuding with a heel and actually working more of a face style in the matches. And now this. He could suddenly be a heel again tomorrow but as long as they keep this up, I'm not gonna hope for it to end by him starting to job to heel jobbers.
