Macho Man no contest HHH as a wrestler isn't all that noteworthy much like Warrior the WWE tells us all he is the greatest I maintain he is not.
He blew up as the attitude era was coming to a close and the white hot period wrestling had was ending. Unlike Warrior Triple H can wrestle but he was always seemed so secondary. I think he worked to make himself look much bigger than he was. Like when he challenged the Streak or when he faced Sting. His challenging Taker Streak not only did it play second banana to Taker v Hbk but the real dream Match was Sting v Taker and WM ended with HHH going over Sting which did nothing to Triple H status. He tries to portray himself as a final boss when he is forever a sub-boss. No number of theme songs or title wins is gonna change the fact that he is cemented as a support player. I will say that he has been EXTREMELY vital to the corporate side of the WWE, he's smart knows how to put on a show and is in tune with the audience. I'm glad for that and look forward to when he runs the whole thing. |

Another is this even a contest, unless the contest is dropping the bottom out of Steph (allegedly). Macho all the way.

Hmm... I mean Triple H is far better than he often gets credit for, especially as a heel. I also probably got more enjoyment from Triple H since I was actually around to see his stuff as it happened whereas with Macho Man I've only seen his stuff after the fact. However, even with that factored in I still feel like Savage has to get the nod because the stuff I've gone back to watch coupled with people's feelings and reactions to him paint a very clear picture that this man was an A++ in the pro-wrestling world.

I feel like we're going in the wrong direction for Savage challengers. Triple H will probably get a decent amount of votes for being more current though.

People will go overboard here about how far apart this one is, but it's really not.
HHH has so many great matches and feuds under his belt over his career. Many more memorable feuds than Savage had. Some of his matches with Austin/Foley/Michaels were so good and it wasn't a decent wrestler being carried. It was a world class wrestler having a world class opponent. He had an awesome gimmick and entrance and had no real weakness in his "Game", if you will. 8/10, at least, in every area. If you doubt how over he was at times, go to the network or YouTube and watch his Royal Rumble comeback after his injury. History won't be kind because of his politics, but there was a world class performer in there for many years. He can still produce good matches today at his age, something Savage struggled to do. Having said all of that, Savage star shined brighter and his peak was higher. His feud with Hogan, Jake and Flair were massive feuds with real emotion and produced moments still talked about to this day. I don't think Hunter ever reached those dizzy heights. Few, if any, have ever reached them. It is hard to compare them because their styles are so different, both on the mic and in the ring, but Savage edges it for me because he was a real innovator. As well as creating an iconic character, he was doing things in the ring that guys like Punk would copy two decades later. While Triple H's legacy in the business could end up being the man who decided the entire sports direction, Savage legacy as a wrestler and a personality is infinite. |

He was def over at Mania vs. Roman last year.
![]() Actually a good contest, IMO. Macho came along during the era when sports entertainment was becoming a household mainstay, and he carved a path for others to follow. Unique, creative, larger than life, and drew the emotion out of you. HHH was far less groundbreaking as a character, but had the staying power, and was convincing as a champion and sort of an heir to Flair's throne ~2003ish. Who do I love more? The Macho Madness, of course. Who was better? Tougher question. My heart wants to say the Macho King, but my head says Triple H. I just think he was more of that "company leader" type. |

Lol, seriously though, that was an impossible spot. Maybe his arrogance made him think he could pull it off, or maybe he was forced into it and tried to deliver, but it was a mission to nothing.
HHH got the largest pop of the night tonight and he wasn't even there. |

Pretty sure I covered this in the last round but Macho impressed Stephanie with his giant (trouser) snake. However in this case so did his opponent, one Paul Levesque. This presents me with a quandry. However, in lieu of the fact that HHH will forever be dining on Randy's sloppy seconds, I do declare it to be only fair that HHH finishes second in this contest as well.

Macho Man takes this in a squash. Savage is the prototypical professional wrestler and sports entertainer. Triple H really wishes he could be. The Game was a great character heel that had a few great wrestling years, but the character lost all intended relevance by early 2003 and didn't even draw as well as the company would have you make out (no better than Chris Benoit did against The Rock, apparently).
Paul Levesque has worked extremely hard, don't get me wrong -- and his legacy will be left and the WWE will idolize him for years and years -- but he was no organic success or natural talent like "The Macho Man" Randy Savage. |

Macho Man.
Outside of longevity for Triple H in regards to seeing a lot more of his stuff and big moments, feel Macho Man was better in more areas than Triple H as the overall package. Both managed to become huge stars but Macho's star aura was stronger because it didn't feel as forced as big chunks of Triple H's time on top nor had stuff equivalent to the Reign of Terror which drove away lots of viewers. |

Savage. Savage was so instrumental in his day, non-wrestling fans know who he is. Not sure too many people would be able to pick out HHH in a line-up....
