Do you ever go to independant films?

I've become more aware of them lately, what with a friend of mine staring in one. The University played 4 short films and I really enjoyed them. I'm hoping this is something I can get a chance to see on a regular basis.

What about you people, are there places that showcase independant films and what are your overall opinions of them?
