Mmmm...I choose Darryl May...

Its funny because Johan wasn't even an all-star. His first half wasn't all star caliber and he still ended up with 20 wins, sub 2 era, 300+ K's, sub 200 opp batting ave. Damn. Just don't choke in the playoffs.

Went Schill on this... touch call, Santana has has a great year... best 2nd half of any pitcher better... but was watching a breakdown of teams faced, as the Sox faced better teams then Minnesota...

How it broke down for each player I didn't see, but I can look into later.

Schilling had some of those random stats, like "Most wins coming off a Red Sox loss" and stuff..I dunno I read that in Gammons' column.

Doesn't matter since I don't factor wins into the stats...

I factor what a pitcher controls, ERA, Hits, Walks, K's, pitching stats...

wins are nice, saying you have a 20 game winner is nice... But who would you rather have...

20-2 4.58 ERA
8-12 2.12 ERA

2nd guy just looks like a great pitcher on a bad team.

WTF? You'd take the second guy. 1st guy is a below average pitcher on an outstanding team, 2nd guy is an outstanding pitcher on a below average team. If I'm building a team I'd obviously rather have the second guy.

If the Twins and Red Sox flip flopped the runs they scored for Schilling and Santana, it'd be interesting to see the records. I can assure you Santana would have in the neighborhood of 10 more wins than Schilling.
