The ROCK possible RAW spoiler

www.prowrestlingscoops.com

The plan right now remains to have Mick Foley and the Rock return to the ring at WrestleMania XX to team up against Randy Orton and a partner, likely Batista.

The feeling backstage is that Mick Foley is the only person who can pull off the angle he is doing without burying himself in the eyes of the fans. Interestingly enough, the angle has been almost entirely Foley's idea. The main point of the angle is to turn Randy Orton into a major star, for WWE's sake as well as Foley and Rock's sake. Both Foley and Rock are returning to the ring for a match with Orton so it is critical that he is viewed by the fans as a major star, otherwise the entire match will be a flop.

The Rock was planning to take January off from the movies to work WWE shows, including the Rumble, and begin to build to the WMXX stuff but thus far it has not worked out. He will be back soon though to start working to WMXX.

Well, at least Rock's going to put SOMEONE over. It's awfully nice of Mick and Rock to try to get Orton over, though. At least they're trying to do the right thing.

I think this emphasises what CyNick and co were saying about the up-to-date nature of wrestling "news" online.

Or, to put it gently, tell us something we didn't already know...

Hardcore Legend has done some stupid things
Do people really want to see the Rock back on WWE t.v ??? Tired, lame catchphrases, oh so predictable moves (all er .... 3 of them ....) & quite frankly the worst finishing move in the history of wrestling (honestly he may as well just do a drop-kick or a clothes line ...) (no offence Bradshaw ...). Yeah so it will be good for ratings but then how do they expect to get decent ratings when they give the likes of Hardcore Holly a title shot ???!!!

I've never been a fan of The Rock because of his wrestling, but I think he's an awesome entertainer on the mic alone. His backstage skits, his promos he does in the ring with other wrestlers and the two Rock concerts were great last year. Yeah his catchphrases are 'old', but since he's hardly even there anymore, it doesn't seem so played out...well to me anyway

The Rock = Ratings.
The Rock = Mic skills.
The Rock = Credibility.
The Rock = SELLS. (Even oversells. I love it when he convulses with his back to the mat after high impact movies.)
The Rock = Pops.
The Rock = Excellent face.
The Rock = Excellent heel.

Just the fact that you have The Rock in the same paragraph as Hardcore Holly is blasphemy. I don't like him for his wrestling either, but if you're going to talk about non-mark things like his predictable moves, tired catch-phrases and things like that, check out the little list I gave you. You're talking as if The Rock does nothing for the company at all.

And as far as the worst finishing move in wrestling, that is quite arguable. I don't see what's so bad about it. It's easy to do, he doesn't injure people with it, the fans buy it, it's a credible move, it can be executed quickly, it can be countered easily... It is a very flexible move that they could work into any spot. He wrestles like alot of heavyweights do. High impact moves, lots of punching and clotheslines and lots of headlocks and stuff like that.

It's one thing not liking him, but it's another thing to rattle off a bunch of crap and dare ask, "Do people want to see him?" LoL. People want to see The Rock, to answer your question.

Apparently, a reason that Rock may have not re-surfaced on WWE television could be that he has commitments to the sequel of hit movie “Get Shorty”, entitled “Be Cool”. Rock, who had originally been scheduled to return to WWE television by now, was said to be in usual hilarious form during a wardrobe fitting last week.

How you can possibly mention The Rock & 'credibility' in the same sentence baffles me. The rock has about as much genuine credibility as Scotty 2 Hotty !!! I guess you'll call that blasphemy too ??? You wanna talk about blasphemy then you don't have to look any further than The Rocks 'sharpshooter' , a move perfectly executed by the greatest professional wrestler ever to walk this earth, a move that The Rock completely bodges each & every time he attempts to apply it. THAT'S blasphemy.

When you talk about The Peoples elbow you are right it's a safe move thats easy to pull off but credible ?!? Please, how can people honestly believe an elbow drop can put main event guys away ??? Just because i'm not a mark i still expect to be entertained, i still winced when Goldberg speared Nunzio at the Rumble, R.V.D's spots still get the odd 'Holy S*it' outta me, i like to almost forget that it's not 'real' & pathetic finishers like The Peoples elbow don't exactly take your breath away, especially when your seeing it for the 200th time.

You make a reasonable argument for The Rock which i'd expect from a fan of the guy ,i know he means ratings & yeah he gets pops (not too difficult you've only gotta mention which city your in), & i'm not saying he's not worked hard or paid his dues but he's hardly the most commited wrestler in the company is he ? He comes & goes from Hollywood as he pleases while other guys work there asses off to try & get outta the mid-card. There's a dozen guys on the roster that i'd rather see wrestle @ a ppv & compared to most of the legends the WWE have had in the past he looks very ordinary. I said in my post that i understand WHY the company still uses him & i'm not in any way saying he does nothing for the company, I wouldn't use the word useless ...... i'd settle for over-rated.

Uhhhh...Look at the Rock's Elbow in a different fashion for a second.

He almost ALWAYS hits it after another move...The Rock Bottom or his version of the Spinebuster.

He could probably just pin them after those moves, realistically...So maybe the People's Elbow is simply "Insult to Injury."

actually, you'rte right about his small moveset being a disadvantage.

Same goes for Ric Flair and Bret Hart. Where were their top rope huricanrana-sunset fliip-bulldog combos?

I mean it: The Rock may not put on mat classics with 25 different suplexes and 19 variants on the armbar chained move to move, but he has lots of energy, he works the crowd well, he has SUPERB timing, and he always gives a hundred percent.

I approve.

I have never felt the need to go back and forth posting yet, then again, I've only been here a couple weeks and this is a discussion forum and my favorite is in question... I'm going to break it down and reply in little bits and pieces...

Wrong. You didn't see Brock Lesnar going over Scotty 2 Hotty in a big push, did you? What I meant by credibility, is that at any point and time, if The Rock beats someone, it is quite believable. He is quite over. And at the same time this allows The Rock to give credibility and hugely help pushes of opponents who beat him. He is a strong wrestler in terms of that.

It was never The Rock's sharpshooter and it is not a move he tries to steal. Bret Hart was one of The Rock's favorites and his doing the sharpshooter is a sign of respect. He might not do it like Bret, by a longshot or not, but he doesn't *botch* the move. It is hard to let guys reach for the ropes like so many do in wrestling today when you sit down and apply 255 pounds of weight on their legs. It is loosely applied for a reason.

To clear this up, I was referring to the Rock Bottom which is clearly the finisher he uses now. The Peoples' Elbow almost never gets a pinfall anymore, especially against the top of the card he usually faces. And he hardly does it every match.

Now here I wasn't sure what to put because you mentioned the fact that he's paid his dues, say he makes ratings, and gets fan pops, but then talk about the mid-carders. The Rock WAS that mid-carder. He got a worse fan reaction than ANY of these guys. He got more heat, on the net, on TV, by the fans, than ANYONE I have ever witnessed for such random hatred. He was "Rocky Maivia," and he was supposed to be a mid-card face! So then he turned heel. Dude he clawed and bit his way up from 'die Rocky die' to arguably one of the most popular and decorated superstars ever, let alone of this time period. I would like to see The Rock return too, but he is not coming back and winning titles - he is putting people over, which is a good thing right now. They need someone like The Rock to help the pushes of some of these guys right now without burying the people they've put 'on top.' Honestly, I do not possibly see how The Rock is overrated considering how far he has come, the fact that he ALWAYS gets a reaction...

What is so overrated? Seriously - no one is Rock worshipping like he is a god or anything. He is quite easily, not overrated.

Well, you could not, but you're also discrediting like 70% of wrestling finishers, making me wonder why you're bitching if you can't stand the suspension of disbelief inherrent in wrestling.

Bret Hart & Ric Flair didn't bore the sh*t outta me , maybe it has something to do with talent ? technical ability ? or just the excellence of execution ???
