Not downplaying either one of them, but I've gotta say, I think Benoit wins this one by a nose.

Eddie, he had a charismatic arsenal much like Angle's in that he could play almost anything and get over.
Benoit's missing the charisma. If I wasn't going to count charisma, I'd say it's a dead tie. |

Eddie was a phenomenal talent who most likely would have surpassed Benoit's accomplishments, but his life was cut short before he ever could.

Yeah, heh, if you factor charisma in, Eddie wins.
If not, it's Benoit. Just shows you how close they are in prestige though. |

Honestly, I would put Benoit over Eddie.
Did anyone else find it annoying he listed off staged accomplishments are genuine merrits of skill or talent? |

Well, Let's See, I'm going to give you a little bit more Indepth look at it.
Chris Benoit (In WCW) WCW Champion for 1 Night (Beating Sid) 2 Time WCW United States Champion (Beating David Flair & Jeff Jarrett) WCW Television Champion (Beating ???) WCW Tag Team Champion w/ Dean Malenko (Beating Curt Henning & Barry Windham) WCW Tag Team Champion w/Perry Saturn. (Beating DDP & Kanyon) v. Eddie Guerrero (WCW) Cruiserweight Champion Tag Team Champion w/ Rey Mysterio Benoit wins in WCW, Eddie just never really got much of a chance to be much....Benoit never really got the chance till it was too late. WWE Chris Benoit United States Champion (Beating O.J) WWE Tag Team Champion w/ Kurt Angle (Beating Edge & Rey Rey) 2 Time World Tag Team Champion w/ Edge (Beating La Resistance) 2 or 3 Time WWE Intercontinental Champion (Beating Angle once and Jericho and Billy Gunn) World Heavyweight Champion for 4 Months (Beating Triple H) v. Eddie Guerrero WWE 2 European Champion (Beating Jericho & Test) 2 Time WWE Tag Team Champion (Once with Chavo, once with Rey) Intercontinental Champion (Beating RVD) United States Champion (Beating Chris Benoit) WWE Champion (Beating Brock Lesnar) Overall, in terms of Titles and big name wins, I'd have to give it to Benoit....Benoit has the slight edge over Eddie in terms of Ring Ability, But it's so close you can't really give him advantage, while Eddie completely owns Benoit in Character.... It's so very close, and It may be that Eddie Death is giving him this, but I'm going with Eddie over Benoit, if Eddie hadn't died, it would of been Benoit over him |

Yeah I find it annoying as well. Eddie was the whole package. Charisma, wrestling ablity and he could connect with the fans alot better. And his accomplishments would have surpassed Benoit as well. I mean he was going to become a 2 time world champ and it was likily that he would have had more. I dont think Benoit is going to get another run with the belt. |

Oh and I didn't even look at the WWE Career Stats, right off the top of my head you forgot to mention Chris Benoit's reign with Chris Jericho as a World Tag Team Champion.
EDIT - And after looking at Eddie's WWE stats; you forgot his WWE Tag Title reign with Tajiri and his 2nd Los Guerreros reign. EDIT #2 - Eddie is also a 2-time Intercontinental Champion Last edited by The One; 05-17-2006 at 11:08 PM. |

For the sake of everyone, and due to some earlier mistakes, here are the CORRECT stats (unless I made a mistake
)WCW Career Chris Benoit 1-time WCW Champion (Match later striken from the record books...debatable) 2-time WCW United States Champion 3-time WCW Television Champion 2-time WCW Tag Team Champion (Dean Malenko [1] & Perry Saturn [1]) Eddy Guerrero 1-time WCW United States Champion 2-time WCW Cruiserweight Champion WWE Chris Benoit 1-time World Heavyweight Champion 3-time WWE Intercontinental Champion 2-time WWE United States Champion 3-time World Tag Team Champion (Chris Jericho [1] & Edge [2]) 1-time WWE Tag Team Champion (Kurt Angle [1]) Eddie Guerrero 1-time WWE Champion 2-time WWE Intercontinental Champion 1-time WWE United States Champion 2-time WWE European Champion 4-time WWE Tag Team Champion (Chavo Guerrero [2], Rey Mysterio [1] & Tajiri [1]) EDIT - Wait, my argument was title histories didn't matter, why the fuck am I correcting title histories?

Eddie was a better character, but Benoit was more solid in the ring. Don't get me wrong, Eddie was amazing in that ring and could have a great match with anyone (Like Bnoit), but Benoit has botched less moves than Eddie.
I hate using the word botch. It sounds too negative. I know botches and little screw ups do happen, and I'm fine with them happening. Just in the ring as a comparison, it happend less with Benoit. It all depends how you look at it. I honestly can't choose. Can we all agree that the wrestling world would have been a better place had Eddie and Benoit exclusively only wrestled each other, and never anyone else? |

Sorry, One, I didn't look up stats, and were going off, by what I remembered..
I knew I forgot the Tag Team Title Reign with Tajiri, because I actually watched that PPV when they beat the WGTT in a Ladder Match. |

No need for appologies, I am simply fallowing up with expectations. People expect that once and again someone will say something that isn't 100% correct, and then the next step is for me to try and fit my over sized ego into some form correction, then make use of my otherwise usless obsessive compulsive disorder by visiting no less then 3 or 4 websites to verify that what I had said was correct.
Simple order of business my friend.

Chris Benoit. But just about.
Actually I first got into Benoit when he had his mask, and he wrestled Guerrero (also with a mask). I was still pretty young, and the fact they had masks were like... "WOW!!! That is way cool!" So Eddie rules just as much, but I'll always be a Benoit mark. |

This is tough. Overall, I would give Eddie the edge due to character but in just in-ring skill I would have to BARELY give it to Benoit. Chris Benoit is just so crisp and can make any match he is in believable.

For in ring ability, I'd give it to Benoit. For Charisma I'd easily give it to Eddie. However, I get the feeling that Eddie was a much nicer guy than Benoit. So between the two I'd give the slight edge to Eddie, only because he was probably easier to deal with backstage.

Benoit is really awesome as an in ring performer with all due respect to the late Eddie Gurrero. But overall as a package Eddie comes top on Chris.

if we are going by who has had the better career, I'd have to give it to Benoit. Charisma means nothing in this arguement.

I want to say Guerrero, but if I sit down and logically think about it, I have to admit had Benoit died last year instead of Eddie, I would probably say Benoit was better.
Either way, both are/were incredible and at the top of the feild. |
