Rate the Tag Team - Week 52 - Billy & Chuck
Word up everyone? I'm sorry this is so damn late but I have been lazy. Last time we rated the team The Orient Express. They scored a pretty low score of 61 but I can't say they don't deserve it. They were good for what they were anyways. This week we are going to rate a team that people have begged me to do for a while now. HERE WE GO! YOU LOOK SOOOOOO ... GOOD TO ME! This is a team who was very entertaining and decent in the ring. They had a gimmick of two homosexuals who eventually decided to get married. They captured the WWE tag team titles twice and had a great stylist in Rico. They also won on the biggest stage of them all, Wrestlemania. They defeated some of the best in The Hardy Boys, APA, and The Dudleys. This is Billy Gunn and Chuck Palumbo ... Billy & Chuck! Top 10 Tag Teams
1. The British Bulldogs (98) 2. The Road Warriors / The Midnight Express (97) 3. The Hart Foundation / The Rock N' Roll Express (96) 4. Edge and Christain (95) 5. The Brain Busters (94) 6. The Steiner Brothers (93) 7. Harlem Heat / Owen Hart and British Bulldog (91) 8. The Hardy Boyz / The Minnisoda Wrecking Crew (90) 9. The New Age Outlaws (88) 10. The Rockers (87) / The Hollywood Blondes (87) |

They were funny but they were also a good technical team.

A shockingly good team. I was amazed that they actually got to a level of credability ripping off the SNL Gay Duo at every turn, but they did it.
Solid 8 team. |

They entertained the hell out of me. I also enjoyed them in the ring. They were at a house show here in the summer of 2002 and were one of the highlights of the show (The whole show was actually amazing surprisingly). They worked the crowd well as well as each other. |

Billy Gunn was already well past his prime at this point, but being a part of a comedy tag team was just what he needed. Notice how his subsequent "serious" tag teams with guys like Big Show and Hardcore Holly bombed. His in-ring work was no longer good enough to carry a serious team. Chuck Palumbo is one of my favorite underutilized talents of the last five/six years or so, and he really benefited from the rub (no pun intended) he got from teaming with the veteran Gunn. Unfortunately, after the poorly-planned wedding angle, WWE promptly forgot how much heat this guy was drawing and buried him on Velocity before releasing him. But for those few years when they were together, these two were consistently among the more entertaining segments on WWE programming, and they had excellent chemistry as a tag team. |

6 at best. They get extra points for being a "real" tag team, not a thrown together job, although they never got the good ol' Team Name.
