Better Team: 1999 Yankees V. 1994 Expos
This idea started (and continues) over the last few weeks with my friends and I. The conversation started with these two team that I have listed. Two of the most impressive teams in the last 20 years and one of them (guess who) didn't even finish the season.

What do you guys think? Who has the better team?

Included are the final stats for that year.

99 Yankees for two reasons: Paul O'Neill is god and the 94 Expos would've lost to the Reds in the NLCS.

The Expos.

And basically, that was the begining of the time when we essentially became the farm team for most every team out there. So many stars playing on so many winning teams.

We got pillaged, and we werent allowed to do anything about it. No wonder we stopped giving a shit.

The Expos were barred from the draft? I wasn't aware of that. I seem to remember the Expos not getting 1 major league player out of 8 first round picks in 1997, making Josh McKinley who never made it past AA ball the 11th overall pick of 1998, trading Grady Sizemore, Cliff Lee and Brandon Phillips for an expensive pitcher that played just a half-season for them. I also recall giving Milton Bradley to the Indians, and being able to pry only scrub relievers from the Red Sox for their star player, Cliff Floyd. Were these moves the fault of those big bad high payroll teams?

Small market teams won before and they'll win again. Not with idiotic front office moves, which the Expos were full of in their last 7 years of existence.

Team BA should not be used in this (or any) debate between two teams. Especially when they played in different leagues 5 years apart.

Expos 585 runs/114 games = 5.13 runs
Yanks 900 runs/162 games = 5.56 runs

Expos .775 team OPS, league-adjusted OPS 108, league-adjusted ERA 118
Yanks .817 team OPS, league-adjusted OPS 117, league-adjusted ERA 108

Expos probably had better pitching but the hitting is uncomparable.
