I'm only asking because I'm watching Angle/Michaels from WM21 and I think it was JR that called him "The most decorated athlete in WWE history."
I'm leaning toward AGREE |

You can make a case for those guys, but not taking into account the amount of times a title is won, and adding in Angle's gold medals, he has to be up there.

All of the other guys named were great too. Perhaps not as great. I think that's all a matter of opinion, but they're all on the highest level.

Only unsticking is that he wasn't a grand slam champion, but you can't blaim a guy for being above the Euro and hardcore titles...

I guess you could say that about Angle. Not necessary by total but by the amount of time that he did it in. He was only around what, 5 or 6 years, and won everything at least once plus Olympic medals.

![]() That picture is classic. I remember in middle school we all wore our gold medals we won in gym class around school all week. Then one day this kid came to school wearing his medal and two plastic WWF belts around his waist and kept telling people It's True. |

Olympic gold medalist. Even if he'd never won a single title in pro wrestling, he'd still be the most decorated athlete in WWE history by far.

Bill Kazmier set some world records, almost won the tag titles with Rick Steiner, and put Abdullah the Butcher in the Bear Hug.

![]() Am I right? :P "Último Dragón is the only professional wrestler in the world to hold 11 titles at the same time. On October 11, 1996, he won the J-Crown, a unification of eight junior (lightweight) division titles from various international promotions. At the time, he also held the NWA Middleweight and WCW Cruiserweight titles pluse he was one third of the WAR World Six-Man Tag Team Championship, making him the most decorated wrestler in the world." - Quoted from Wikipedia. |

![]() Lets not forget this to. He was in WWE, I'll be it they never used him as well as WCW did (What a shock, WCW used somebody new in a good way... right?) Lances best work was back in Dub-C. It's sad how WWE buried his talent. He could of been the next Bret in terms of technical skill, and I'll be it he was not the best on the Mic, but what he lacked on the Mic, he made up for in the ring. I would of loved to see a high profile Benoit v. Storm or Regal v. Storm match at a Wrestlmaina . What a showcase of pure pro wrestling skill that would of been. Something WWE has been lacking in a long, long time. Peace, ABC |

Angle had 11 titles.
Bret had 16 titles. Jericho had 18 titles. Triple H had 21 titles. All of these men had various titles. Tag team titles, IC titles, US, Hardcore, Euro, etc etc etc. Midcard titles. But how many of them can say they were the 16 time World Heavyweight Champion? WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! |

Open to Interpretation
I'm not questioning anyone's validity of all these grate talents. I'm just saying that the thread is about the, "Most decorated athlete in WWE." There are a few different interpretations of that.
Dragon held 11 at the same time. That says more to me than accumulated titles. And also on a technical bases makes him the most decorated Pro Wrestler ever. (I don't think we will see anyone else holding that many titles at one time again anytime soon.) Ric Flair held 16 World titles, 9 Tag, 2 TV, 1 IC, 5 US, won the 92 Royal Rumble (Also the only time the WWF/E title was decided in a RR match.) and got a slammy, all over a 36 year career. All in all about 33 titles, (Give or take, I know I'm not spot on, but I'm close.) to the Flair name. Now the thread dose say ATHLETE so by literal interpretation. By literal I men the legitimacy of the titles in relation to real athletic combat. (I'm not blasting wrestling for being fake, I have much respect for it and it's heritage, this is just my humble opinion.) Ken Shamrock was the first King of Pancrase in 1994, the first UFC Superfight Champion (Holding that title twice.), and was the first World Mixed Martial Arts Association Heavyweight Championship. On top of being NWA Heavyweight champ, WWF IC champ, and WWF Tag champ. Then there is Brock. One could argue he is the most legitimacy decorated athlete to ever have been a WWE wrestler. As he is the only man so far to have been both the WWE Champion (3 times) and the UFC heavyweight Champion (Current). Cementing him (Again only my opinion here, but it's open to debate.) as the first person sense the likes of Georg Hackenschmidt and Frank Gotch to prove himself as the real deal when it comes to wrestling. Add to that his 97, 98, & 99 ND State-U annual Bison tournament wins, two Big Ten Conference wins, 2 time NJCAA All American, and his NCAA Championship. Brock, like him, or loath him, is the real deal. Do you see my point? Triple H could win 30 more WWE world titles for all I care, he wont ever of been both a WWE champion and a world champion professional fighter. That to me, makes Brock Lesnar the most decorated "athlete" ever to have been in the WWE. Kurt is a close second for me due to the Olympic win in 96 and all. Now if he would put his money where his mouth is and make that jump to MMA like he's been talking about for how long now? There is an off chance he could do it to. But at 40 years old and with is heath issues I don't know if he could pull it off. It would be a "Rocky moment" if he did... If you get my point. Overall I think quality trumps quantity in terms of "decoration." Some Champions could win the title one time and make it a more memorable championship reign than another with 16 or 30 different titles to there name. Yeah they've been champ a bunch of times but what else have they done? Why dose the number of titles mean anything, especially if that is all they can be remembered for? It is what legitimizes them that is important. It's what makes them, to steal a line from Triple H, that damn good. Peace, ABC |
