Michael Jackson concerts....
I'm am fairly positive that any response to this will be full of negativity from people younger than me, who are obviously easily manipulated by the media....

But still. I saw MJ at Wembley in 1997 and It was unreal. The best stage show you are ever likely to see. At the end of earth song, a full sized tank rolls out from the back of the stage, and other such excess. He had 2 150ft gold statues of himself on either side of the stage. I think it is awesome. If you are going to be excessive, do it fucking properly!

So yeah, 50 dates announced in London.. I got some tickets for one of the August shows. He might well be nuts, and look like a cartoon, but if he still has the ability to put on a show like he has in the past, I know I am going to enjoy it.

So, (he asks expecting no response) anybody else going?

Ha. I bet myself an afternoon joint once I saw you online that you would be the first to reply, and with an abundance of hatred that only you can provide.

I totally hear you, but I am not going to watch him shag kiddies (partially because I don't really believe he ever did...) but to see his show. Which is incredible.

Getting baked at 2pm is nice though. So top work brother!

If he confirms Dublin as hes meant to I'll go to check it out I'd imagine, only really because I've guarenteed tickets for everything in the o2 arena in Dublin so may aswell

Holy shit that's awesome I was there too! That was during his History World Tour!!!

With that said, and with the price of MJ tickets anyways, I have no desire to even attempt to see him live. But I do enjoy telling people that I've seen him live already.

Anyway, I chuckled at Nunder's response back then, as well as now. Fuck Michael Jackson. Yeah, he influenced Pop alright. Helped turned it into being about spectacle and not music. God, even the 70s weren't that full of this bullshit.

Well I woulda loved to have been to a live show of his

He inspired immensly growing up and you can bitch all ya want about him KK but the man was the Icon in music of the 80's

-I did pick up his dvd of his Dangeous Tour live in Bucharest Romania

-Great great show and one of the best performers of all time

-The man stood there for over 2 minutes in the intro doing nothing and they still were screaming and going crazy

-That is a legend ladies and gentlemen

Don't care what anyone says you know you'd want to see the man in concert at least once

Don't patronise my choice in music, concerts or anything. You are just a negative cunt, who if you honestly believe that a Pop stars live show must only rely on the sonic content, knows not what he is talking about.

The set is as much a part of the performance as any part of it, but that is besides the point, what you are saying is MJ is a negative contribution to pop music because he added a much broader visual aspect to what he was and what he sold, but that was the natural progression of the stage show. The natural progression of music that is created to appeal to the masses and make them happy. That is all pop is. So he wanted to appeal to 2 sences instead of one.

Last week I went to see Mars Volta, and the next day Leonard Cohen, and Thursday and Friday I played some shows for my friends band, playing bass, keys and guitar. Jackson five had some killer songs that were about music. And some of Jackson's songs aren't bad at all. I mean I'm definetly not a mainstream pop fan. And I htink his influence to music at a whole along with madonna hurt the industry more than helped it. But that's like saying you don't like some older wrestler with several great matches simply because he trained some wrestlers you don't like.
