Gail Kim...
Why is she being treated like this? No storylines, only being in shitty matches. Didn't the WWE pay a lot of money to bring her to the WWE from TNA?

She has to be regretting this decision, even if she did it for the money. Her face on Raw with ZZ tops, that dancing part. She looks miserable. It is really starting to become a problem for me.

i know she did so much work to get a womens division for tna and made sure that it was mainly just womens wrestling and not just the segment of the show where teen virgins can jack off.

The honest truth is they only payed so much money for her to get her out of TNA, not to get her in WWE. That was just a bonus. Vince sawwhat the knockout division was becoming and it had the potential to start drawing so he cut it off at the head.

Hopefully we do they the Women's and Divas Titles unified soon, and we do get a Gail Kim run with the belt. Kim has got the goods, and I'd love to see a feud between her and Natalya.

If they keep things the way they are, I think that Beth Phoenix and Gail Kim could have a fantastic ladies' feud away from the Divas Title. Sure, that would require depth for the women, but I think it would lead to some excellent matches on Superstars, or something.

Business-wise, this is a smart decision if that really was the reason he brought back Gail Kim. But at the same time it means instead of actually improving their own Divas wrestling to compete with TNA's Knockouts division, they would actually just continue to ignore them wrestling wise. So basically the traditional Monday/Tuesday/Friday piss break for viewers would still be women's wrestling instead of a boring match or promo.

Let's see here. When she first came into WWE, she was pushed beyond all the other women and fell flat on her face. Maybe, just MAYBE, they want to make sure she's up to it this time before they spend money and air time on her?

Bottom line here people: WWE's female roster has limited space for non-valet usage. Not all of them are going to be spotlighted at once. And when you ask why someone like Maryse is on TV and someone like Beth isn't, maybe you should just look around TPWW a bit and listen to all the drooling idiots going on about how hot Maryse is. I WONDER why Vince thinks we'd rather see her. Fucking retards.

I'm going to talk to you, because you are far less retarded than Tedious.

The reason Maryse is on top (I would like to think, anyway), is that she plays an amazing heel character. Being hot is part of that, but Kelly Kelly is hot and hasn't been able to sustain a place at the top. Fuck, Gail Kim is hot, too. It's not about being hot and useless.

The WWE pushed Gail Kim way too inconsistently out the gate. She won the Women's Championship, which was good for her, but why were people meant to care. The WWE didn't even treat it like a big deal from memory. Maybe the company are not using her because in their eyes she botched last time -- but it's been pretty clear from her matches since she's been back that she's one of the more crisp females in the company.

When the WWE brought in the Divas Championship, I was one of the few who didn't complain. But the WWE did have Victoria and Candice Michelle at the time. Now, you essentially have the two divisions spinning their wheels. It is impossible to have a women's division with depth when there are only two girls worth giving a damn about at one time. The female roster either ends up cannibalising itself, or each girl is so protected that there is no emotional investment there at all.

Look at what is going on over SmackDown! way. The top face there is Melina, who has been involved in the title scene since the beginning of the year. Of the ladies that can wrestle, you've got Michelle McCool and Natalya -- both of whom are heels. How long do you think that can stretch?

If there simply aren't enough tag teams for two Tag Team Championships, then there just aren't enough women for two separate ladies' titles. I'd also like to remind you that there are three sets of Divas in the WWE, but one has been completely left out, with one of the most talented female wrestlers in the entire company going to waste there.

I dunno, ECW isn't canon. The solution will always be to snag better divas from the indies, Canada and Japan and to book better.

You bring up decent points, but I think Maryse is a generic heel character who we think is amazing simply because we accept the shit we're given when we've had better in the past.

Honestly the Divas championship was a mistake from the beginning. There aren't enough capable women to sustain two divisions, adding an additional belt waters down the prestige of the other belt, and the additional belt affects PPV time. You're never going to be able to get both women's matches on PPV.

The easy fix would have been to have the Women's champion be able to go from show to show like the tag team champions. It would look stupid to unify the belts so soon after the creation of the Divas belt, but I don't think each show needs its own champion. Additionally, booking beyond the one-dimensional "I want the Womens/Divas Championship" might help the ladies get over.

The WWE has been trying to make the women look classier for some time now. So you do sort of need two ladies championships to put them on more of an equal footing with the men. Talented or not, they aren't just valets/wank fodder anymore. Keep in mind how long it took men's professional wrestling to evolve. We didn't go from Frank Gotch to now overnight. WWE women's wrestling has only been around and competive for maybe ten years (that's being generous).

Those are just some thoughts on women in the WWE right now? Why isn't Gail Kim doing anything? Because she fucked up when she came back and they have other people ahead of her.

And if, in a discussion about the underutilization of any given female wrestler being underutilized, you advocate the elimination of the one thing leading to more utilization of female wresters in WWE, I'm going to call it garbage and suggest you stop doing it. That being said, it isn't a matter of how much talent there is, it's a matter of how the TV time is divided. Without a belt to contend for, female wrestlers will have nothing to do on their own and will be relegated to being strictly valets, and fueds involving the men they're attached to. There is an ostensible brand separation, and therefore a woman who does not have a belt to go after will not be used at all.

ECW is actually pretty stacked right now. They are finding it quite hard to get everybody on a show each week.

I pretty much agree with thedamndest. Looking at the talented women in the WWE, you've got a top tier of Natalya, Beth Phoenix, Mickie James and Katie Lea Burchill. Just behind them, you've got your Michelle McCools, Melinas, Jillian Halls and Alicia Foxs. So that's about four really good women, and four women who can string together a match when they need to. That's not enough for a good solid tournament for one championship. There just isn't enough talent to sustain a division for a year before it comes time to shake up the rosters with drafts.

Now, if Mickie James was floating between the brands having matches with Beth Phoenix, Natalya and Katie Lea (who cover each of the currently established three WWE brands), then you can stretch things out a lot longer.

I don't understand your point, Tedious. If you make the Women's Championship interpromotional, then you're still going to get the same amount of segments involving women a week -- it'll just probably double-up on one woman performer. Big deal.
