Has anybody been following the gender controversy surrounding the South African 800-meter champion at last week's athletics world championships?
I watched her semifinal and my first thought was: that's got to be a man. Beyond the overall masculinity in her body structure, it sure didn't help that she wears long shorts and has short hair. So it wasn't really surprising when the next day they asked her to be tested. Anyway, from the sounds of it, she might have been born with female parts, but internally has the XY chromosomes and be more male than female. Where do you stand on this? It's hard because, if true, it's not like she underwent surgery or anything. Legally she would be considered a female based on her sex, but she obviously has a vastly different makeup than any other females competing in athletics. Dont Mess With Kids |
