Australia were absolutely dreadful, I wouldn't get too excited yet about the Germans. Ozil looked very good but Ghana will be much more of a test.
<font color="#ff6600">Be thankful Rob Harvey and Cactus Sid aren't about. They were notorious for it despite the fact they were both from southern England.
That reminds me actually, I need to go back a few hundred pages in the football thread and find the posts they both made attacking me when I said Sunderland had paid too much for Craig Gordon and they both said he'd be at Chelsea or Man U within a year and was one of the top 3 keepers in Europe.</font>
Haha fucking hell, I was gutted when Sunderland beat Villa to him. Then we got big Brad and they got the shit.

I slept through the game, having attempted to stay through the night for it. Without having seen the game, I'm guessing our tactics were something like park the bus, hoof it forward and hope for Cahill to pop up somewhere
Is there video up anywhere yet? bunch of people going off on fuhbook about Cahill getting sent off, would love to see it myself. Was it fair enough?

Aussies werent parking the bus at all, looked decent enough in attack but rubbish in defence, Germans just outclassed them in every way. Seen some great attacking moves tonight. And cahill got sent off.
My first thought at game speed for the Cahill red card was that it was a very poor tackle and he could get in trouble for it. Replays showed the red card was a bit harsh although I can't blame the ref since I thought red card at first too.

...they weren't parking the bus because they were 2-0 down pretty quickly. No point parking it when you've been scored against. Australia were just absolutely shit. Craig Moore and Lucas Neill for fuck's sake.

Aussies were attacking from the kickoff, the germans easily worked them out quickly enough.
Why wasn't Kewell playing?
Injured again I think, some think came out this week about him having some life threatening illness thats ruined his fitness the last 50 years or something.

Australia started the game with NO strikers on the pitch. I know you're talking about the early corner they had but to call them decent in any way is nonsense. They were set up to defend and they happened to be terrible at it.

I told you guys Australia would be pants. Dumb cunts in this country don't realise that we should be grateful to just be in the World Cup let alone 'expect' to beat the likes of Germany! Anyway I have been against the national team for the last 6 years due to the way my club has been shafted by the federation so I welcome the result against the Germans and hope Ghana do the same :)

Well if it's going on what is being speculated;
SWP ahead of Adam Johnson is possibly the worst of the lot. Not expecting us to do well tbh, awful squad. I don't quite get Warnock ahead of Baines because I don't recall even seeing Warnock take the field. There is a lot of deadwood in that squad who are somehow guaranteed selection despite having shit or average seasons, currently suffering injuries or there being players blatantly better this season that haven't been picked.
Emile Heskey...can't get a game for Villa...no better English centre forwards says it all.
Sticking with that.
Capello set a record for shit selections in the USA game. King, Carragher for King, Milner, Wright Phillips for Milner and of course Heskey. To be fair he did set up the goal but what it comes down to is if he gets chances he's almost guaranteed to miss them which is a serious problem when Rooney drops as deep as he did against USA.
I thought Johnson, Cole, Terry, Gerrard and Lennon (although maybe not a good final ball) were the only ones that looked decent. The rest look injured or badly lacking match fitness or form.

This ABE stuff is really annoying me now. What is it with Jocks and Taffs? Ofcourse the media is paying no attention to you, YOU DIDNT FUCKING QUALIFY, no one is assuming everyone supports England, it's just no one cares what a bunch of a bitter gingers and sheep shaggers think about it, I mean really.
Actually, the majority of the media and companys do assume the entire UK is backing England.
We get Mars adverts in Scotland saying "C'mon England!" with the St George wrappers and the Pringooooals adverts with Peter Crouch and the News media is the worst, like ITV News referring to England as "We" and all that, even though it's broadcast to the entire UK and BBC News adding shots of the St George's Flag to their Countdown Clock. Again, even though it's broadcast to the entire UK.
Personally, it just annoys me the way the English act with the World Cup.
The main thing being constantly reffering to 1966. We all get it, you won back then, you don't have to keep going on about it. Even when they drew with USA, the papers and other media were saying "We drew in our first game in '66, we can still win it!". I mean, come the fuck on, that's just going a bit over the top now.
Some other things are that if one thing goes wrong (that was caused by an England player) in one of their matches, whoever caused it, is public enemy number 1 and is loathed all across England and you all seem to have a bad habit of resting all your hopes on just one man, even though you have an entire team.
Also, I found it funny when on ITV before the England/USA match, they showed you what the ESPN advert for the match was like in America, then Adrian Chiles' puss interrupts it and he says "Oh, get over it". Pot calling the kettle black?
1966, get over it.
Adrian Chiles was part of the ESPN american advert.

You need to distinguish between the message the media puts out and what a majority of people think. It's cringeworthy to most people here the lengths they go to, but they do whatever they have to shift papers, get viewers, sell product, whatever.
I absolutely loved Euro 2008, and at least part of that was down to the complete lack of hyperbolic bullshit surrounding England. Actually made the pundits do some research for once as well. So I can see that side of things. It does go over the top sometimes though.
(Not for one second denying that there a large number of fucking idiots who are happy to blindly believe whatever the papers or whatever say btw. At least you don't have to share a country with them)

I hate the English football team and enjoy seeing them fail. I have heard people laughably say that they would support England if they played France. Those people need to have a word with themselves. Thierry Henry and France did what we all would do in the same situation, if Robbie Keane had caught a high ball, toe-tapped it round Mexes and rifled it in the top corner, I'd have been fine with that. England are fucking cunts and given that it's not on to bomb them any more then hating their football and rugby teams is a small comfort.

Germany legend Franz Beckenbauer has launched a blistering attack on England's playing style in their opening game at the World Cup.
While Fabio Capello's team laboured to a 1-1 draw with the United States, Germany crushed the Australians 4-0.
The former German captain, 64, said: "What I saw of the English against the US had very little to do with football.
"It looked to me as if the English have gone backwards into the bad old days of kick and rush."
<!-- E SF -->Joachim Loew's German side has looked the most impressive so far in South Africa, with the Bild newspaper declaring: "We're going to blow you all away" after their opening win in Durban.
<!-- S IBOX --><TABLE border=0 cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width=231 align=right><TBODY><TR><TD width=5>http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/shared/img/o.gif</TD><TD class=sib606>

England are hoping for an improvement in performance in forthcoming games against Algeria and Slovenia to enable them to top Group C and avoid a last-16 clash with the Germans - who are the likely winners of Group D, although Ghana and Serbia may prove tougher opposition than Australia.
Beckenbauer, captain of his country in the 1966 World Cup final defeat by England and the 1974 victory over The Netherlands, believes England's problems were the result of a shortage of talent in the Premier League.
"I am not sure if the England coach Fabio Capello can still change much there," he told South African newspaper the Times.
"The English are being punished for the fact that there are very few English players in the Premier League as clubs use better foreign players from all over the world."
Capello would no doubt prefer to see more English players in the domestic top flight, but questions have also been raised regarding the team's lack of preparation with the new Jabulani ball being used in South Africa.
The ball has been used in domestic football in Germany, France and Argentina since February, but not in England.
Altitude is another factor that has been affecting England's squad, with defender John Terry admitting last week that the players were taking time to adapt to the conditions.
England are based in Rustenburg, 1,403m above sea level, while Germany are playing their games at sea level in Durban.
------
England excuses are the ball and altitude it would seem.
Beckenbauer points to the lack of English players in the Premiership and their tactics. I don't think it matters about how many English players are in the Premiership more players just means more overlooked in favour of the old favourites who have brought us unlimited success before. Pointing out the tactics is fair enough. Bolton would get slated for the way England played against USA. I still think it's down to injured and recovering players making up a lot of the squad plus we are waiting for some to hit form. Need to remove Heskey from the team after the World Cup and play a different system.
I reckon we'll get through the group and everyone will think we will win the World Cup again until we are brought back to Earth with a crap performance in the knock out rounds.

I take pride in the fact that I'm probably the only Canadian to have watched every game (but one)..... I have no loyalty to any nation, but I'm really digging Diego Forlan and the only black guy on the Dutch team, whose name I forget..... starts with an A I believe....

I think you mean Eljero Elia, cause he really played well. But he's not the only black guy on the Dutch team, although they did have a lot more a few years back.

It is so much better. I refuse to watch ESPN because the announcers seem like they're going to a funeral.

Spain totally disappointed me, but at least other teams are keeping it up.
Corporate CockSnogger

Spain will come back strong I think. They didn't play too badly, just couldn't create enough clear cut chances in the box. They've still got the ability to break teams down though.

Argentina have already qualified, South Korea and Nigeria are playing each other next.

I forget. In the case of equal points, is it going down to games against each other first or goal difference? I was sure it was goal difference, in which case it's still possible, albeit not likely that Greece and South Korea could go through in that group.

If Slovenia win they may rest some players for the England game. Although realistically you would think we should beat them anyway.
