That's dum. If England draws Slovenia and Algeria 1-1 each, and U.S draws Algeria 0-0 that would leave Slovenia advancing and the winner of a US/England coin flip.

England will win at least 1 of the 2 games against Slovenia and Algeria. Just maybe not very convincingly.

US still advances we are a stronger team that england so far and will send Algeria back to the stone age. Im also pretty sure that Slovenia wont be able to beat England. England didnt lose but they didnt win either so I am pretty sure the coach is gonna pound his players about this and they will be bloodthirsty when they face Slovenia.

It goes way, way beyond this set of players and down to how kids are coached from probably age 5 onwards. If Trevor Brooking has actually made any difference at all (and I'd be surprised if he has, but you never know) we won't see the full benefit for years yet.

I don't think it's even that. What's the point of teaching kids the fundamentals if shit players, injured players and non match fit players get picked ahead of those that carry form. I said this at the start of the tournament. Ridiculous block for breaking into the squad. They've peaked in the qualfiers and there should have been no room for sentiment for those that got us to the World Cup.

Yeah. The thing is if Barry didn't actually make some crucial interceptions in the box, I'd probably be maoning about putting another recovering player into the team but I guess he proved his value to the team with that. I'd be tempted to go 4-5-1, remove Heskey and push one of Gerrard and Lampard closer to Rooney but I'm not sure it's the right time to mess with the formation when Slovenia is now a must win game.
I think at this point I might just be happy not to see Heskey and Wright Phillips at all next game.
Guess it depends on how those carying injuries are getting on and who are concerns for the Slovenia game. Haven't read any news today yet so I'll get on that now. Should be interesting.

I don't necessarily agree with the booing but for people who've spent ££££££££ travelling there to show their support you can't blame them. The players, or more specifically Rooney I guess, need to develop a thick skin, how on earth he can be so irked as to lash out like that I've no idea. Grow up, son.
Slovenia have looked a tidy if somewhat dull side so far, even though we beat them not that long ago it's a different set of circumstances now. Still, this is pretty much what being a Wolves fan is like all year round, only England (supposedly) have better players.

What's it got to do with being a minnow? Support is support. You get behind your country no matter what if you're passionate. A lot of English are just shallow glory hounds who think they have a god given right to be world champions. They need to get over themselves. Come back when you do something for the first time in 44 years, then you might have a claim.

I'm not denying that there's fans in Wales that will only turn up when the team's winning. But it's a completely different argument to compare Wales to England. England is the home of the best league in the world. Qualification should be your minimum expectation, and should go without saying really with the team you have, yet you all cum when you win your qualification group. And it's us Welsh, Scottish and Irish that have to put up with all of your hype and expectations about winning the world cup or a euro championship when you've done nothing since 1966 to warrant such expectations.

There used to be some more famous Polish players back in the day, but currently there are still a few fairly known. However, Polish national team is shit these days. I can't wait to see the riots on the streets when we lose on Euro that we're hosting in 2 years.

Right, because it gets the idiots (which every country has, although I do think England has more than it's fair share sometimes.) to either argue for or against the presenter and only the people with the most retarded extreme opinions seem to get through screening.

Half of my family are English. They have all been confident England will win the world cup, along with their friends. What more can I say? From my personal experience as a Welshman, I've heard a lot of it.
Besides, this has all been blown a lot out of proportion. My point was that the fans are fucking shit for turning on their country after a draw when they're not even out of the cup yet, and I don't see what England have to be confident about. When is the last time they beat a real world contender? Argentina in 2002? Come on.

English media normally absolute fiends for talking up their chances, this has been by far the least talked up English side I've ever witnessed media wise. Obviously The Sun and the likes of Talksport are still talking them up, they appeal to the fucking spastics of the country but proper sports journalists have been perfectly realistic about England's chances.

Yes, it was the right call. It didn't appear to be intentional, but the ball was headed into the net. It would be up for debate if it was headed wide, but as it stands, I believe it was justifiable.
Not a fan of that rule at all, on a stage like the World Cup, where most players dream of playing, getting sent off because you had the ball blasted at your arm is a bit shit. Odds are now Kewell's tournament is over. Give the penalty, book him etc but not a straight red-card unless there's intent.

It depends what Bradley does really. US need to come out and attack, play with 3 up top as they did 2nd half against Slovenia (Altidore, Dempsey, Donovan) and they should be able to break Algeria down. They'll have to watch it as they're very capable of counterattacking but US should have enough about them to win.
He should really have kept attacking after they equalised yesterday, game was there for the taking.

Even though France lacked badly in offense, kicking him out now leaves just Ribbery as their main goal scorer.
He should've taken another striker anyways. I'm not sure they'll miss him really in comparison to who they have in South Africa atm, Cisse, Henry, Gignac and Govou are all as capable for goals internationally (although Govou doesn't seem to play as a striker very often and Cisse goes from beast to utter wank in a second) Just another reason Domenech should have been canned after Euro 2008. Valentin also says he has resigned from the French football federation, shouting that he was "ashamed" of the team.

Holy shit, NZ almost got the win with that last attack they had.
Phenomenal job by NZ, their defense and keeper in particular.

French releasing a statement saying the players have refused to train in opposition to Anelka being sent home. Lord.
Well done NZ :)

Hahaha France :$
It would be so many kinds of hilarious if Italy somehow didn't make it out of that group. They'll do Slovakia though :(

A draw between Uruguay and Mexico would send the Frogs and South Africa out :o
Yeah but its unlikely they'll play for a draw as 2nd place will more than likely get Germany while first gets South Korea.

They just had a video on of Evra arguing with the fitness coach and the coach looking like he was going to hit him. He then walks away and throws his accreditation away.
Hilarious.

omg these announcers on abc absolutley suck with their enthusiasm when a goal is scored. Brazil just scored and there was silence for like 5 seconds after it.

Why the hell have the FA officially announced that they would expect Capello to resign if we don't make the second round before the last game?
Tossers. If I was Capello and the FA were desperate to get rid of me, I'd take them to the cleaners.

Don't think it was 'officially' announced. Even the FA aren't that stupid.

Did definitely think immediately of Rivaldo, but still, Kaka is a class act, he didn't deserve that. Disgusting behaviour from the Ivorian.
