Celtics are going to lose in the first round of the playoffs.

Thunder vs Bulls final.

Offensive rebounding is a big issue with the Celtics but I doubt they lose in the first round since last year they stunk at rebounding and managed to make it to the finals. If they do lose, its probably either to the Heat in 2nd round or Bulls/Magic in East Finals.

Unlike last year, Doc already came out saying he won't hesitate to give up on games if they are loosing by a lot to rest his starters but the bench is still very inconsistent.

I'll take Da Bulls over the Pacers in 5. I see them (the Pacers) getting at least one win in Indiana. Especially since they're the last team to beat the Bulls, and the only divisional team to beat them too.

Still shocked that the Grizzlies made the playoffs though.

The Kings finished their 24-year stay in Sacramento after last night's home game because the owners want to move to Anaheim in order to get the LA type fanbase and a city that can generate better revenue than Sacramento.

So is it official that Sacramento is no longer? Will they still be called The Kings, avec same logo and colours?

If anything, if Blake Griffin's popularity continues to skyrocket, I can see the Clippers being the new team to start routing for in the California area. He could make being a Clippers fan cool.

Also, nice to see the Grizzlies make the playoffs. Was a fan ever since they were in Vancouver (even though they were a shitty ass team at the time. What the hell ever happened to Abdur Raheem and Big Country?). Is this the first time they ever made the playoffs? FILL ME IN!

Total FT attempts today with all 4 teams playing equally hard: 71 (Miami/Chicago), 32 (Indy/Philly). That's embarrassing.

Emperor Smeat
04-16-2011, 06:25 PM
Not surprised at the FT gap because everyone knows the NBA always favors certain matchups and reffing usually worse than in the regular season in terms of FTs called.

Miami is more of a concern due to almost giving up another lead late in the game while Chicago staid in the game due to Rose's FTs and Korver's critical 3pt shots.

Buzzkill
04-16-2011, 07:19 PM
Not surprised at the FT gap because who the hell is going to be drawing fouls for IND and PHI? Rose, Wade and James are maybe the 3 hardest players to defend going to the hoop in the NBA. Not to mention MIA and CHI both play some of the best defense in the NBA, a big part of which means moving your feet on defense..

Now, I acknowledge that NBA refs definitely have a tendency to favor all stars on foul calls, and I'm sure some of that was at play, but it's not like you can just look at the FT disparity and blame it on the refs.

Damn, that loss hurt. Kinda been the story of the Knicks against the Celtics this year. They keep it close and lose in heart breaking fashion at the end.

That Carmelo offensive foul was ridiculous but whatever. Knicks shouldn't have let it get that close by the end. Melo got too 3 happy at the end too, should have brought it inside.

Its crazy seeing the difference with the teams coming out of timeouts. Boston has set plays and some big ones every time. The Knicks have no plays and just usually settle for a long three. No idea what D'Antoni even tells them during timeouts.

Evil Vito
04-17-2011, 10:48 PM
Yeah, as soon as that Anthony foul happened I knew they were gonna wind up losing. The Stoudemire foul that negated Douglas' 3 was fucking huge also.

Way too many fouls and dumb bad shots. Once the Celtics started coming back it was like the Knicks started panicking and going for quick 3's instead of taking their time.

I didn't think they'd get a win in Boston, so coming that close only to lose hurts all that much more.

Lamar Odom was more concerned when the next episode of his reality tv show would be giving than caring about the Hornets in game 1.

"It's the playoffs," Paul said. "It's the playoffs, man. It's a whole 'nother energy, it's a whole 'nother thing."

You could hear the excitement in his voice, as if he were announcing the birth of a child. Yes, the playoffs have started, with all that entails, such as the requisite demand for greater intensity and sharper execution. None of that was there for the Lakers. Saturday night Lamar Odom's Twitter account sent a tweet counting down the hours until the next episode of his and Khloe Kardashian's reality show; no mention of his upcoming playoff game.

No one talks about how Collison was abusing Rose in the first half. And Boozer got schooled repeatedly by psycho t. That strip and dunk was fucking amazing. Thr pacers feel like they can win . Also don't ne surprised if Rose get clobbered coming down the lane tonight.

Is that how the fans really want to send their team off to Philadelphia? When a crowd leaves like that I expect it to be a rout against the Heat. They blew out a team and the fans don't care? Did they want an exciting playoff match-up in the first round? A crowd like that doesn't deserve to have a team that good. They should be forced to swap teams with the Milwaukee Bucks.

It's not even fair weather fans cause they kicked Phily's ass for two straight games. It's just lazy ass fans who would rather be home after spending way too much for playoff tickets. If anybody tried to leave the TD Garden like that they would have been heckled and booed.

Knicks main lineup had to be one of the worst playoff lineups of all time.

Carmelo was surrounded by Douglas, Jeffries and Walker all night. Unreal it was even that close at the end.

Knicks can hang with them the whole game but when it gets to the final minute the Celtics are just automatic against them. I think some of that definitely has to do with the coach.

The reality is there is very little chance they win the series...especially since they lost both of these in such heartbreaking fashion. It also doesn't help that Ray Allen is physically incapable of missing baskets.

If they can grab a win or two in NY though that would be immense.

Yeah, playoff basketball for the first time in a while. MSG will still be crazy.

Taking a game in Boston would have been nice but I wasn't expecting it. And the fact that they were in both games in the final seconds is pretty big. Will be deflating if Amare and Chauncey can't go again though. Gotta just hope they can. Or at least hope Amare can.

A farewell to Jason Williams, the once and future White Chocolate (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ball_dont_lie/post/A-farewell-to-Jason-Williams-the-once-and-futur?urn=nba-345890)

When most players retire, we look back on their accomplishments and consider whether or not they fulfilled their potential and had a career worth remembering. By most standards, Jason Williams (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3250/)(notes) (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3250/news) was a success. The 12-year NBA point guard retired Monday (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=As23TZJd3XtOEQDBeY7I2.s6PKB4?slug=ap-grizzlies-williamsretires) for the second time (the first coming in the summer of 2008), although the circumstances of this exit suggest it'll be more permanent than the first. After being waived by the Orlando Magic (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/teams/orl/) in January and being a non-factor with the Memphis Grizzlies (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/teams/mem/) after signing in February, it appears that the NBA no longer has much use for his services. So we must look back at the career of the man once known as White Chocolate and consider what it all meant.
Williams reached heights that few point guards even glimpse. As a rookie with the Sacramento Kings (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/teams/sac/), he made the All-Rookie team, had one of the league's five most popular jerseys due to his flashy play, and was part of a team that took the defending West champion Utah Jazz (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/teams/uth/) to the full five games in the first round. Over the next two seasons, he was a part of an ever-improving Sacramento squad that was widely acclaimed as the most exciting team in the league. After cutting back on flashy passes while playing for Hubie Brown's Grizzlies, Williams became one of the league leaders in assist-to-turnover ratio. As point guard for the NBA champion Miami Heat (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/teams/mia/) in '05-'06, he was arguably the team's most important role player and shot 10 of 11 from the field in the East-clinching Game 6 against the Detroit Pistons (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/teams/det/). By the end of his career, Williams had become a steady veteran presence with enough credentials to command the respect of his teammates.
Yet, for all those accomplishments, his name will always be most associated with his early propensity for the kind of flashy passes usually seen on the playground circuit. The highlights made the Kings a "SportsCenter" favorite (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Y615OnHyzs), back in the days before League Pass was a common purchase for NBA fans. They were the source of his nickname, which stuck with him long after it made any sort of sense. As a rookie, Williams was a legitimate sensation, to the point where he got attention that far exceeded his actual contributions to the Kings' success. In fact, the team didn't really take off until Williams was shipped to the Grizzlies for Mike Bibby (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3245/)(notes) (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3245/news), a move that ultimately allowed coach Rick Adelman to run most of the office through the ridiculously skilled Vlade Divac and Chris Webber in the post.
This is all to say that no one will ever associate Williams with winning or veteran dependability, even if that's ultimately what defined him on the court. Instead, he'll always be that flashy young point guard, the one who played on the same high school team as Randy Moss and became most famous for throwing a pass off his elbow in the Rookie Game (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-Vq-DO86RE), a contest as far removed from legitimate competition as humanly possible.
Williams will forever defy the typical discussion of players as the sum of their accomplishments. In our minds, he'll always be White Chocolate, the rookie with a goofy haircut who was usually too flashy for his own good. Again, that's not who he was on the court for most of his career. Sometimes, though, it's more important to remember players for the flawed moments of joy they brought us than for the professional style they displayed later in their careers. A man's accomplishments only matter so much when his best moments created a legend.

Celtics sweep Knicks, 101-89

Cs bench was better today than the previous 3 games combined and even though they got a bit lazy on defense, they held off the Knicks run to open up a late series killing run.

Even though I'm disappointed the Knicks couldn't at least make it a series any Knicks fans have to be happy with the huge step they took this year.

They have their two core guys and now they can actually start adding some pieces around them in the offseason.

Much respect to the New York crowd giving the Knicks an ovation for a making in this far into the NBA season. Much louder reaction than the Heat got for WINNING at home in Miami in their game two.

Heat will get theirs coming up in round two.

Thought the Knicks had a chance their in the second half.. Dunno why people keep say "two superstars".. I mean Chauncy Billups is called "Mr. Big Shot" for a reason.. Not that he's worth $14.5 mill or whatever but that dude is super clutch and has ALOT of playoff experience..

Emperor Smeat
04-24-2011, 07:38 PM
He probably won't be on the team next year although it depends more on him and how much the cap space is for next season. I believe early numbers are showing the Knicks already used up 50-60% just on Melo and Amaire for next year.

Its rumored to be lower but around $58 million and much stricter in penalties for going over. The battle for the next CBA is going to be very ugly due to the owners wanting players to give them back some guaranteed money because the owners goofed up badly with the mega contracts and the idea of too many stars on a team.

Loosing Billups vs the Celtics hurt the Knicks just like how Denver is missing him a lot in these playoffs.

Westbrook took 2 shots towards the end of the 4th that were fucking abysmal. He definitely should've passed the ball in those instances. The second he finally did pass the ball, Durant drained a 3. I know that Durant isn't always going to be wide open for a 3 but Westbrook definitely had some options. He didn't have to force those awful looking shots. Probably cost them the game.

Chauncey Billups returning for 1 more season with the Knicks as the team picked up his $14.2 million option deal. If the team had declined, they would have only spent $3.7 million in a buyout.

Warriors fired their coach after just 1 year on the job. It was more of the new owners wanting a complete re-haul of management than the coach being horrible.

I could see the East Finals winner being dependent on who comes out of the Cs/Heat game since if the Heat face the Bulls, they will get the favoritism and Stern still wants a Lebron vs Kobe final (assuming Lakers reach again).

If its the Cs, I wouldn't be surprised if Bulls won so that D-Rose continues to be called the next Jordan. D-Rose vs Rondo matchup would be great to watch since you have a bad shooting Rose but can hit critical shots compared to the assist maker Rondo but struggles on long shots.
