I took the wife (Lydia) out on a few quests, but I guess they were fairly easy so she survived them. I like NOT having her follow, as I know in a day or two I'll have a pretty chunk of gold waiting for me when I drop by the house (usually around 800 gold pieces). I'm want to see what happens if she get's killed though. Someone said you get a note from a courier and some gold (LOL. I wonder if it's their version of a Life Insurance Payout.)

I've killed people who I've done favors for and I got their inheritance through the courier, yeah.
I guess if I ever need gold, I can just kill one of my friends. lol

Also, is there a realistic setting like in fallout, where you have to eat, drink and sleep to survive?
Purgatory

I don't think there is, tbh. I have to see if there's a difficulty setting, as I've been playing for quite awhile and don't remember. It would probably be easier in Skyrim to play it that way as food and water are more plentiful.
I tried Fallout like that and didn't like it. Maybe if I play through it once, then go back and try playing in Hardcore Mode, I might enjoy it.

No, I just got the Hearthfire one. It's actually pretty cool. The only thing that's gonna seem tiring is having to find all the materials to build with. Luckily some things are right there in the immediate area to start with, tho.

Oh,and about the 'inheritance' thing. I was playing yesterday and a Frost Dragon attacks RiverWood. Alvor, The Blacksmith and that archer, Faenthal both got killed apparently. I traveled to Whiterun to trade out some equipment and a courier brought me two 'Letters of Inheritance". At first, I thought Lydia and my housecarl in Riften had gotten themselves killed somehow. They were for Alvor and Faenthal, 300 gold and 100 gold respectively. Was totally unexpected.

Also, I posted it in there already, if you'd have even bothered to look for the thread, really has no place in here since it has, oh I dunno...NOTHING to do with TES Online.
Anywho, from what I understand, they’ve made the interesting choice with what will presumably be the last DLC for TES V: Skyrim by taking players back to the 1ST DLC from TES III: Morrowind, which was set on the island of Solstheim, far NW of the continent of Vvardenfell. Should be hot as fuck when it drops.

Dragonborn DLC arrives tomorrow for the Xbox 360 while the PC and PS3 won't get it until "early 2013."
The Xbox 360 version was always going to be a timed exclusive but now Sony is actively working with Bethesda to get all the PS3 issues resolved in time for the DLC's launch on the PS3 and to get the other missing packs.

Yeah I reinstalled this for the hell of it. Have now modded it to hell, and am actually surprised at how well my machine is handling it. Lotta visual mods, but a few gameplay mods. Have roughly 40 mods running right now so I'm not gonna list them lol. There are some really good things the modding community has done. I'm actually PLAYING the game for once. Have a an archer who uses restoration and alteration but I haven't done much with his magic yet. I'm level 10, and I've put just about everything into archery. Little bit into sneak to get the 3x sneak damage for bows.

I still play from time to time. More so now that I've come across a mod for a slightly randomized start so that you don't have to go through the whole execution scene. Just make a character, pick an equipment kit (Or don't. I find it much more enjoyable to start in rags) and get dropped somewhere in Skyrim. Often times near immediate danger. The main story can be started at any time by going near that first town to see the dragon fly off.

Nada. According to Bethesda Elder Scrolls 6 won't be happening for a while because, and I quote, "the technology doesn't exist yet." This could just be them throwing people off or something, but I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see ES6 for quite a few more years.
Looking forward to the revamped Skyrim though. I never liked fiddling with ENBs so this will let me finally play it with decent lighting and whatnot. Only thing I'm a little scared about is whether or not SKSE is gonna work for it or not. If it doesn't it could be a while before we see any of the really good mods working for the special edition (if we ever see them at all.)

So if anyone is picking up the special edition for xbone on friday, I highly suggest looking at mods by Arthmoor on bethesda.net. He's released a bunch of great stuff, like expanions of the smaller villages, alternate start options so that you dont have to start as a prisoner in helgen, and the most essential mod of all, the unofficial skyrim patch, which fixes a ton of bugs and errors from the base game, and makes mods run smoother across the board.
I pretty much added everything he's put out in my library.

So in terms of name titles Special is better than Legendary?
Special Edition is an upgraded version of the game with better lighting, textures, etc. Legendary is just the GotY Edition with all the DLC. To my knowledge Special Edition has all the DLC too btw. So essentially, yes, Special is better than Legendary.
I will warn however that the Special Edition is not yet compatible with all mods so if you're on PC you're probably better off sticking to the Legendary Edition for the time being. Many mods will be ported over quickly apparently, but some like the Skyrim Script Extender and mods that require it will take a while. Of course if you're on Xbox then this isn't an issue for you at all because Special Edition is your only choice.

I wonder if that means they are trying to make a game like daggerfall, that encompassess all of Tamriel, without sacrificing size and visuals like ESO does.

Not really. You meet the blacksmith and his family and get the key to their house instead of Gerdur's, but that's about it. Think there's also a couple more lines if you go meet and join the Imperials as well if you choose him. Outside of that, no, nothing major.

Yes. An early main story mission takes you there where you face your first dragon. If possible, before that encounter, I would HEAVILY encourage you to explore a bit and get to around lv. 10 and stock up on health, magicka and stamina potions as you will definitely be tried to your limits there.

"PurpleHaze"s save file in Skyrim had increased to 5.3 MBs and he started encountering a lot of problems, some being very considerate. Graphic rendering took a dive, loading times became longer than usual, framerates were dropping, and perhaps worst of all, some game elements couldn't be interacted with. "PurpleHaze" discovered the problems when he had tried to chop some wood to earn some honest gold.
So, PlayStation 3 players, beware if your save data gets close to 5 MBs."

I know that no one cares by now, but I've been playing this game a lot. And I do some quests here and there and kill some things, but mostly I've just been fascinated with all the people I can talk to LOL. I feel like i'm having some deep conversations. I'm sure eventually i'll pick up the pace .

Anytime I play, I rarely ever fast travel. Even when I do, it's more for practicality sake for the game engine (even if I go three or more days at a time, encounter trigger spots seem not to respawn anything unless I actually fast travel and happen by that spot again). Otherwise, I would always travel overland just to see what wacky shit whatever character escaped Helgen can get into. I should fire it up again soon.

I'm trying to imagine you taking your character on a nice long walk from, let's say Markarth to Winterhold. I tried to use fast-travel sparingly too, but I'll be damned if I'm going to walk all the way or maybe even half or more of the way across the map for ANY reason, let alone a quest.
Also, yeah, the issue with save files and Bethesda games are definitely not one of their more lovable quirks and oh how I was reminded of it the other day playing a new character through the Broken Steel DLC the other night. Was doing the bit where you go to Adams AFB and wrap things up, only for the game to hard freeze on me after what couldn't be more than 10-15 minutes. Such a pain in the ass to try to have to save every literal minute.

I've made that jaunt. Multiple times. Horseback if in any kind of "hurry". But usually, I end up going more between Markarth and Riften. I'll pick flowers, pick axe materials, and pick fights with bandits and bears. Especially early game, where I'll just stop in the next town, unload all the shit I looted for coin (and exp for selling and crafting), and keep on my merry. And as I said, if that three day timer worked like it was supposed to reliably for encounter spawns, I would have walked the world even more.
