I don't think these are on the disk this time other than The Rock who'll be DLC 90 days after release. All DLC will be free with the $11.99 PSN and the 960 MS Points cost of Fan Axxcess. Tomorrow we'll see who's on DLC pack 2.

Watch the file size of the DLC when it downloads. If it's around 100k, it's an unlock key and that "DLC" is on disc. if it's actually a few mb it's actual DLC.

In my personal opinion, I think a lot of it depends on when the DLC gets created, not whether or not it's on the disc. If it's created with the rest of the game, then yeah, it should be. If they finish production of the game, and start production on the DLC, then it's fine as DLC. If the DLC gets done before launch, and they put it on the disc, no big deal.

Anyway, it's not like Cole, Lawler, and JR are an expected part of the game. Now if it was like "Day 1 DLC, Dolph ZIggler, Zack Ryder, and Air Boom" that'd be a huge problem. But honestly, the game looks complete. If the DLC is done, why not release it as simply as possible. It'd be silly to have them sit on it several weeks just because they want to space it from the release so people don't bitch. It's not like they're selling an incomplete game. It's less like "Here is your car with 3 tires" and more like "Here is your car, do you want to pay for the OnStar program that's already installed in the car."

Don't get me wrong, I get what you're saying, and if the game looked incomplete, or it was people who should have easily been in the game.

Of course, my whole argument really does go to shit considering they probably have the DLC planned out when they start making the initial game anyway, so in theory, it could be made with the game... It's not like they complete the game design, then decide who is going to be DLC.

Still, it's a DLC driven world now, and at least THQ is letting you pick and choose what you want, meaning I won't have to buy crap I don't care about to get what I do.

This year in WWE '12's Universe mode, you're really going to get a true sense of what it's like to play through a seamlessly integrated show. Instead of forcing you out to the Universe hub after every match like we did last year, you'll now have the option to continue on to the next match on the card after you've completed your current one. The in-mode presentation will then display the matchup overlay like they do on TV, and the entrances will commence.
Furthermore, if you're at a show's end, you'll have the option to continue to the next show. What's cool though, is that you'll see the show's opening pyro and hear the music. And what's even COOLER than that, is the opening pyro and music will transition into the first participant in the initial match on the card's entrance music. No loading, it just happens. Dope, I know.

I did say everything is editable. So, you can make that show, whatever you want. Name it whatever you want (Same with Raw/Smackdown).

For instance, I made Nitro on Monday, complete with logo, arena, belts. Then made TNA Impact on Thursday (didn't have logo or arena, but those will obviously be created by the community probably in a matter of days after reelase). Then I put Raw on Friday night. You can then remove entire shows from the draft and for titles. So only wrestlers on TNA can complete for whatever titles you set for that show, no cross over unless you let it. When you set up the show, you name it, set the belts for it, etc.

Or you can have all 3 shows open and compete on other shows here and there.

Unfortunately the title rankings still isn't editable, so you can't just put Cody Rhodes as the #1 contender for every belt But you can give him a title shot whenever you want and for whatever show you want.

So as you can see, the ideas here are pretty much endless. Want an all ECW show? Sure! Want an all Legends show? Sure! Want Raw/Smackdown/Superstars as it is now, SURE!. Want John Cena and Randy Orton to be stuck together on GLOW on Friday nights? Go ahead.

you can turn on/turn off anyone you want to be involved in the mode. So if you download 50 CAW's and only want to use them in your universe, go ahead.

You can edit titles for what they are set for. So if you want the WCW belt to be the TNA title, you can do that. Can't edit the actual title. Sorry.

There can be 3 World Titles, one for each show. There are 23 belts in the game to choose from and use.

I don't know all 23 belts in the game, only a few that were shown to me.

They are unlockable, but if you buy Fan Axxess, they are all unlocked from the start like last year.

Really hoping you can also have brand exclusive PPV's next year that are editable. That final step and then I won't be able to think of another addition of universe off the top of my head that I'd want to see, bar my previous idea of having in ring promos as well as the action.

Yeah, brand-exclusive PPVs would be nice, as would the promo idea. There are some things that can be improved upon and added that would be nice but aren't really necessary. Like having more than one PPV a month, so you could have Halloween Havoc one week then No Mercy the next, each for their respective company. Basically complete control over the calendar.

Create a Belt is a must for the mode, really. But little things like custom opening pyro would be nice. But that's just meta managing to the extreme.

As it stands now from the sound of it, there's very few things that could be improved upon other than adding more angles, storylines and text promos.

The Rumble winner, too. Are they locked into their brand (which I think is how it was done last year), or can you choose which title to go for? I'd assume if it's the latter they'd automatically switch brands. It wouldn't be hard to implement. Just have it so that right after the Rumble match a prompt comes up and asks which title you pick. And that match gets top billing on Mania.

Also, Money in the Bank was annoying last year because every match with a title holder in it brought up the prompt asking if you wanted to cash in. Should just be a button press at the menu/between matches with no obnoxious prompt. Also, you should be able to actually wrestle the first match if you choose to, and have any damage carry over from it to the MITB cash in.

We're really happy that you enjoyed what you saw, there. But I know who you guys are. You want the "meat" of a feature, the heart and soul.
Well let's get right down to it, then. No fluff, or clever comments by me (except for the previous paragraph), just results. Without further ado, here's your WWE '12 Universe mode questions and answers (SPECIAL THANKS to WWE '12 Universe Designer, Jon Durr):

Q: (@TeamRealMFTalk): How many matches per card are there on a SmackDown, Raw, or PPV?
A: Monday/Friday = 4, Thursday = 3, PPV = 6

Q: (@ShazzyNortje): Are we able to create new matches on the day of a card?
A: You are able to edit the matches like in SVR 11. But this year you can make any match a title match.

Q: (@gardner_ebooks): Are we able to change the match type of an existing championship match, and keep the it up for grabs?
A: Yes.

Q: (@Novak1986): If you create your own show, are the WWE Superstars and Divas put on that show eligible for the WWE Draft?
A: Yes. But you can also choose to turn the Draft On/Off.

Q: (@JohnnyHilton): Is it 3 full brands and Superstars, or just 2 full brands and Superstars?
A: With the Edit Show feature, you are editing the existing show. Basically that means that Raw and SmackDown are full brands with championships that belong to it (you can select what title you want for the Major, Minor, Tag and Diva categories). The Superstars show however, is a combined show shared between Raw and SmackDown, and does not have its own titles. The reason for this is to keep the integrity of the scheduling/ranking logic working in Universe.

Q: (@JohnnyHilton): Can we set music for the opening pyro of our created show?
A: Not this year, but I like the idea!

Q: (@DivaCaws): Do we have the ability to create our own championships?
A: You can set what championships you want to use from the list of 23 titles that we provide in the game.

Q: (@rjrothell): Does performing multiple finishers, or weapon strikes automatically result in injuries?
A: No. There is only a chance that an injury will occur.

Q: (@rjrothell): What are the 12 monthly PPV in WWE Universe?
A: Noted below:

Q: (@rjrothell): Due to match-flow, can you still re-book an entire show?
A: Yes. You can re-book an entire show if you elect to return to the Universe Menu after every match. If you choose to go directly to the next match, you can either play or skip the match suggested by Universe, and then go to the next match.

Q: (@Dave_1307): Can you switch injuries on/off, even after a Superstar is injured, at anytime?
A: Injuries are always on.

Q: (@MrStorylines): Will Divas have their own Universe cutscenes this year?
A: Yes, there are cutscenes using Divas.

Q: (@AhMed_K1NG): Will Superstars or Divas have voiceovers in Universe?
A: No.

Q: (@TeamRealMFTalk): Can you change any match to a #1 Contenders match?
A: Technically no. But since you can create any match to be a title match, you could theoretically tell yourself that the winner of this match will be my new #1 contender, and then book them in the championship match.

Q: (@NickNitroV2): Can we have Superstars/Divas tied to more than one stable in Universe?
A: No.

Q: (@deangoodsell): Do you have the real TV show intro, or do you go straight to pyro
A: Straight into pyro for TV shows, BUT on PPV's, before the pyro, we have the intro animation with the voice over "And now WWE presents,</PPV>

Q: (@Cantzon): Will we be able to change our attributes on our own, or only rely on momentum in Universe?

A: You can adjust your attributes if you get the Attribute Customizer. The Momentum feature has a max impact of 10 points per attribute (Speed and Agility are 5 points).

Q: (@Yash_Shukla): What are the options for interference?
A: You can choose to interfere in 1 on 1 matches. You are able to select any Superstar to interfere. The "Superstar Select" screen for choosing who to interfere with, will show if they are "Allies" or "Rivals" with the people in the match. When you interfere, you have 1 minute to cause mayhem. You can either help 1 person out or hit your finisher on both people if you want.

Q: (@Yash_Shukla): Can we insert our own created storylines in Universe?
A: No, but we do have over 100 Universe Storylines (with branching depending on who wins).

Q: (@jrpbroski97): Can you replace WWE brands and PPVs with create-an-arena?
A: Yes.

Q: (@0johncena0): Can you have more than two participants in an already established singles championship match?
A: Yes. Book the match that you want with the champion in it and make if for the title.

Q: (@NSR19): Can you setup a created show, and save it for later?
A: When you Edit a Show, you can save it.

Q: (@0johncena0): Can you choose which championship you go after if you win the Royal Rumble?
A: Yes. There is a storyline for that.

Q: (@0johncena0): If a champion gets drafted, do they take that championship?
A: Champions will not be drafted.

Q: (@0johncena0): What month does Universe mode begin?
A: January

Q: (@viddyclassic): Is the championship history tracked?
A: Not this year, no.

Q: (@MattieLegend): Can we remove PPVs in Universe?
A: No, only replace.

Q: (@ur_captn): Can you switch championships on brands?
A: Yes.

Q: (@ahmed_deedoo): Can we make our own show on any day of the week?
A: Not this year.

Q: (@AnimeKing2005): Can you turn Universe mode on/off like last year?
A: Universe mode is now separate from Exhibition. Exhibition tracks its own champions (you can also vacate titles that you don't want present in Exhibition). If you don't want to play Universe, just don’t enter the mode.

Q: (@Si1927): How long are injuries usually?
A: Injuries can last anywhere from 2-6 months.

Q: (@FellaMcFellersn): Can we have an undisputed championship?
A: We do have the Undisputed Championship

Q: (@jgaflwwesickbro): Are there 2 MITB matches?
A: Just 1 MITB match at the Money in the Bank PPV.

Q: (@FlyinShoeMan): Can I change rankings?
A: Not this year.

Q: (@Big_Evil_66): Can I use injured Superstars/Divas in matches?
A: Not while they are injured. However, injured Superstars are not injured in Exhibition.

Q: (@BeldigoVinck): Is there a screen in Universe to display current feuds/alliances?
A: Like in SVR '11, this is displayed in the Superstar Information screen.

A: No, just the Major, Minor, Tag, and Diva championships.

<font color=goldenrod>A lot of the stuff in that Q&A kinda bums me out, just because it contrasts with what we've heard. Nothing to really dampen my interest though by any means. No increase in matches, no 3rd brand capability, no titles for the 3rd brand, etc. It's not a HUGE deal though, because as mentioned I'm planning on using NXT as my 3rd show.

If I wanted to make a legit 3rd brand (WWE, WCW, ECW or something) I think I'd just fuck around with the titles. The IC or US Title would be swapped out for the Thursday brand's world title and I'd make sure the person who holds that belt doesn't appear elsewhere. As for the remaining secondary belt (Champion of Champions belt maybe?) I'd treat it like a TV title across all 3 shows.</font>

The Rumble winner, too. Are they locked into their brand (which I think is how it was done last year), or can you choose which title to go for? I'd assume if it's the latter they'd automatically switch brands. It wouldn't be hard to implement. Just have it so that right after the Rumble match a prompt comes up and asks which title you pick. And that match gets top billing on Mania.

Dunno, but I do know (I believe it was one of the first few SvR games '07-'09) that one of the SvR titles featured an option where you could choose to have the current WHC wear either the normal or nWo spray-painted title.

I don't think I'm sold. The only reasons I would buy this full price is because of interrupting moves, create an arena, and, apparently, you can wake up the referee. That's a cool feature. And I did mark a little when I saw the WCW Nitro arena with Kevin Nash and Arn Anderson in the ring.


Other than that, it looks to be the same game, same style, same everything. Road To Wrestlemania sounds boring, and WWE Universe Mode just, like last year, seems like a bunch of pointless exhibition matches with a random cut scene thrown in here and there. Do we have an actual MISSION to BEAT the game and feel accomplished or do we just have to use our imaginations and make shit up?

1. Most environmental hotspots around the ring area. (A bit lame, but whatevs)

2. Holding a submission after a rope break. (Probably the second biggest one I'll miss)

3. UCM's (They were shit anyway)

4. The chair Guillotine and chair jump spin kick front grapples. (Most Lame)

5. Trash can grapple. (Ability of placing it over someones head) (:'()

6. Can't give Rey Mysterio a two-toned attire in superstar threads. (BOYCOTT!)

7. Rope physics when being thrown on the ropes in ladder matches? (I presume this means crotching on the ropes?)

8. Getting rid of Alberto Del Rio honking during his entrance. It was in the early build. (Sure I can sleep at night)

9. Atleast one of the specific championship entrances have been removed with no new ones added. (MEHHHH)

10. Training facility. (SUPER MEHHHH)

11. Can't change camera angles in Create an Entrance anymore. (That's pretty shitty in all honesty)

<font color=goldenrod>In some unfortunate (although certainly not major) news, the Match Flow feature for WWE Universe only works if you use the card the game generates. If you want to edit any match, you have to play the match right then and there as was the case last year. Also reading that if you do that, it'll show the show-opening pyro before each match. I can see this whole thing being fixed for next year. On the plus side, it sounds like the game does a nice job of logically booking to follow storylines - so sticking with the card given to you might actually happen regularly.

Like last year, no titles can be vacated (gotta put them on people not on the Raw or SD rosters if you don't want to see the belts) and the game will still insert legends/non-Raw or SD people into storylines at times.

One last thing - the Royal Rumble match at the PPV in Universe is stuck at 30 entrants. You can edit who is in, but not the number of participants. As somebody who does a lot of CPU simming, Rumble included, I'm happy about that. There's a video on YouTube of a 40 man Rumble and it took nearly an hour to complete.</font> :o

I don't understand how match flow would work with creating your own matches anyway. You'd have to come out of the screen to go into character select to pick the match anyway, so it wouldn't make that much issue I don't think.

How you can actually tell some semblance of a story and have to wear your opponent down in order to get to your big moves now. That alone is the most exciting part of this to me. I mean Universe is nice, all the other bells and whistles are great but that is the one part that means the most to me.

It's nice too see that it received such a great rating but IGN has given high ratings like that to very average WWE games like the RAW series on XBox they received a 9.1 each so with that said I'm really interested to see how the other major gaming sites rate it to me No Mercy is still the best of it's time.

No highlight reel mode, no superstar threads, obviously no downloadable content, no making your own patterns, etc. They never reveal too many details about what is in and what isn't. Well atm i've got no other option anyway. Might save up for ps3 or 360 next year. Was suspicious of the low pricing though must admit.
