Bibby Lashley was incredible. His only flaw was that he didnt sound like a monster on the mic, but as a wrestler, he was AMAZING. He was a great great technical/power wrestler, on par with Brock Lesnar and John Cena. His mic skills are the only thing that kept him down.

Says the guy with 4 posts.....

Okay, let's look at why your idea is a bad idea, with a little detail.

WWE has a lot of big fish in what is becoming a smaller and smaller body of water. We have Lesnar, Cena, Triple H, Daniel Bryan, The Undertaker, Orton, Kane, blah blah blah etc etc. Putting Bobby back on tv is just going to take time away from the current talent, and talent that is still trying to get over. Another generic big man is going to take TV time from Cody Rhodes, Broodus Clay, Lord Tensai, Alberto Del Rio, CM Punk, and more.
There's a lot of talent, and the product is getting fresh again. WWE does not need Lashley. If anything Lashley will hurt WWE at this point in time.

Nonsense.

Most ppl dont like Lashley because they think he is a black Lesnar rip off, but Lashley is a completely different wrestler. The fact is Lashley is more talented than Brodus Clay, or Lord Tensai (AKA Albert, who failed badly in all his WWE runs) and is a totally different wrestler than Cody Rhodes.

Fact is, Brodus and the other guys u mentioned are mostly mid card talent. Lashley is a main event talent. Lashley could easily headline a pay per view, along with Lesnar. Lashley Vs Lesnar would be a dream match. Two NCAA champs. Two former world champs. Two former MMA superstars. Who will come out in one piece?

Lashley was a one of a lifetime chance for the WWE. Firing Lashley was like if they fired Cena when he debuted as a rapper, or if they fired Lesnar before he became champ.

Lashley doesnt need the WWE, but the WWE can benefit ALOT from Lashley.

For every Rock, Lesnar, A-Train and others that come back, guys like Ziggler, Barrett, Rhodes, Swagger, Sheamus, Ryder, Bryan etc miss out on air-time. In a few years time, when guys like the Rock, Lesnar, Undertaker, Austin, Michaels etc are well and truly done and retired, who will WWE rely on as 'big draws' when it's Wrestlemania?

So right now, should Lashley come back? No.

Cena, Punk, Daniel Bryad, Sheamus etc. All get good character development. All world champs. All future legends.
The facts here speak for themselves. Bobby Lashley was a "missing the boat" moment in WWE history. If I ran the WWE right now, I would call up Bobby Lashley and open next monday's Raw with Lashley coming out and DESTROYING Brock Lesnar and then saying, "I am the ASSASSIN, Bobby Lashley. Mr. McMahon sent me to destroy you Brock". That would be an instant ratings maker!

PrettyCool, I'm not going to troll you here. I think the main reason people aren't really sold on Lashley is because we're a bit sick of the "big stupid guy that can't talk" getting a push. It's happened plenty of times before and it never really goes anywhere. Also, WWE put a whole lot of stock in Lashley and he fucked them over pretty hardcore.

I don't really see a reason why he's needed. I suppose the image of a giant black man destroying somebody is alright but it's just not worth it to bring him in. He isn't reliable and he can't really talk. At all. WWE should be looking for "total package" type guys instead of big ridiculous people that can't hold a microphone.

True, very true. This is definately a "bigger picture" type thing for him.

As for the Lesnar and Lord Tensai? I think they're being brought back as "filler" for the gap that HHH, Shawn Michaels, and Taker are going to leave. We all know we won't be seeing any of them for a bit and they still have PPV's to fill and new storyline directions.

Lord Tensai will more than likely be put into a WWE title run and Lesnar will run a program with Cena, possibly a "menage et toi" if they figure The Rock in.

As for Lashley, he doesn't have the talent to fill any type of 'gap'. He didn't even make it in TNA, for fucks sake.

Never was interested in Bobby Lashley. In my eyes, he will always be the Black Lesnar. And that's largely due to how the WWE packaged him. Right down to the entrance - the jump up to the ring, the slight warm up before a fight, his push. Everything. Didn't enjoy him in TNA either. Bland. As. Fuck.

Bobby Lashley was not untalented, guys. He could have been a major star if he had the right attitude, and he would have been because the WWE was jamming him right down our throats. The thing is, the WWE was so intent on pushing Lashley as a Superman babyface that he was bland and no one really cared when he was gone.

It all went wrong at December to Dismember, when the WWE decided that the ECW World Championship (then recognised as a World Title) would go to a babyface Lashley and he would carry the brand. I can understand that the WWE thought it was too early for CM Punk, and that they didn't want to put the title on Rob Van Dam; but pushing Lashley as a face on that brand was just counter-productive. Big Show should have been the first man eliminated by CM Punk (which Show apparently agreed to, as well), before Punk tore through either both Hardcore Holly and Test, or just one while RVD pinned the other. Punk and RVD then battle, and one eliminates the other, depending on who you wanted to push into the ECW World Title program heading into WrestleMania 23. To be perfectly honest, RVD would have made more sense at that point in time. So RVD pins Punk and then Lashley enters the ring and destroys RVD for a bit, but RVD makes a comeback before Heyman intervenes somehow and Lashley wins the match and reveals that he is Heyman's new puppet in transforming ECW into an "entertainment" brand.

At the Royal Rumble, RVD is competing in the Rumble Match and proudly announces that if he wins, he intends to use the title shot to compete for the ECW World Title. RVD doesn't win the match, however, as Heyman's security troops hit the ring and toss RVD out of the match as it looks like he's about to get some momentum going.

Heading into WrestleMania, the story is that Heyman will do everything he can to keep the ECW Title on his boy, and keep RVD a thing of the past. Lashley does manage to retain the ECW Title at WrestleMania 23, and Punk still wins Money in the Bank, leading to the next year consisting of Heyman trying to convince Punk to use the title shot on another champion and leave ECW for his own good.

Also, WrestleMania 23 was the highest grossing WrestleMania of all-time, wasn't it? Now, I've read some differing reports on just why that is (I think some said that it cost more to order and actually got fewer buys), but it still made more money than any WrestleMania ever (unless WrestleMania XXVIII tops it). Like it or not, Bobby Lashley was a big part of that event. Not saying the buyrate falls directly onto his shoulders or anything, but I think a better case could be made for him being a draw than quite a few other guys that we champion. Just saying.

I must admit -- when I found out Brock Lesnar was returning, I did think to myself that they could have Vince McMahon challenge Donald Trump again, with Vince getting behind Brock Lesnar against Trump's representative in Bobby Lashley. It doesn't even need to be at WrestleMania, either. It could just be a stand-alone story heading towards any PPV. I'm sure, like it or not, it would do big numbers.

No.

I wasn't even planning on watching WWE anymore, but because Lesnar is back, I will. I want the best guys for the job. I don't care about their age. I don't believe in giving young guys air-time all for the sake of them being young. Being young is not good enough. Infact, them being young is all the more reason for them to mid-card and learn the craft. I'll never understand the hard-on internet fans have for younger wrestlers. I just don't get it.

The truth is, if any of those young guys had talent, and were deserving of a top spot, they wouldn't have to be just given it. They'd be so over with the fans that WWE would have no choice but to put them over just like they did with Austin in 1997. He was never intended to be a mega babyface, but because the fans responded to him, he got his shot. That's who decides who is over or not - The fans. The voice of internet fans is not loud enough, and I think most of you guys are just parroting what you hear higher ranking net nerds say.

For the most part, I think one does need to be at least 35 or older to be a draw because most of those younger guys look too much like babies in the face I think wrestlers should have a mean and menacing look to them and not a youthful, college boy face that belongs on MTV. Guys can't look like your neighbor to be a draw for the most part, and most of these young guys don't have anything unique about them in my view. They could be in a grocery store and I wouldn't look twice at them.

It's too many young and ordinary looking wrestlers and too much of a PG cheesy "family" rating that has caused me to not even watch wrestling anymore. I honestly don't think their wrestling skills are that good and their mic skills are terrible.

I think a lot of these kids grew up in the internet age and believed all that nonsense about wrestling only being about wrestling and that it wasn't about entertainment which is a bunch of hogwash in my view. The Rock wouldn't have become famous if he didn't have a chance to cut the promos he did, and The Stone Cold/McMahon feud would not had been nearly as epic as it was if it was just about wrestling. I think wrestling and knowing how to cut a good promo are equally important.

But anyhow, these Internet marks are all indy wrestlers now and they are killing the business because they let a bunch of other internet marks who never wrestled or cut a promo in their life influence them with their BS opinions.

I think the only reason why WWE is still in business is because there is no real competition anymore and I think they went back to entertaining little kids because the people they use to target got tired of the product. I also don't think these younger wrestlers have been in the business long enough to be running things and the days of paying dues seem to be no more.

WWE is still drawing in the numbers and I think WWE will always do that, however compare the numbers to what they use to be over ten years ago. Heck, if wrestlers today are so good, how come the wrestling business still depends on the older guys to help them out? It's because the wrestlers today are not a pimple on the butt to the older wrestlers.

In my view, it takes takes five....six...maybe seven years to really "get" the business. Heck, most of the youth are washed out in three years. I don't see light at the end of the tunnel until the business changes which will be when Hunter gets old and fat!

The old school way to get to the top of the wrestling world was working your way through the tag ranks, to I.C champ, then to World champ. Now a guy like Shemus works with Triple H an is World champ after only four months of being in the business!

I also don't think that just because you've had a few birthdays that you should just stop living and that the wrestling world should discriminate against wrestlers just because they are older. All that matters is the talent and if an older wrestler has more talent then a younger wrestler, I think he should be given a title run and given plenty of attention. It's not fair to discriminate against an older wrestler who has already proven he can draw, entertain people and make the promoters money. I think giving an older guy the ball and letting him run with it is smart business and you seem to disagree with that. I don't want some untalented wrestler being the top guy if he doesn't have the talent and is only getting the ball because he happens to be young. That's not good enough in my view.

Having typed all that, do you think WWE would have honestly lasted long if they were doing a youth movement back when WCW was it it's best in 96' and 97' and happen to have mostly older wrestlers in the spotlight?

It was a bad-ass looking, 30-something year old Stone Cold that saved WWE. I know The Rock helped too and he was under 30 at the time, but he was a very rare human being.

I dont necessarily believe guys should be "older" or in their 30s with years of experience under their belt just to get pushed. There should be several variables that come into play when getting a push, with the biggest one being whether ir not they are over with crowd. CM Punk us definately over with the current live crowds. They pop for his music, his shirts can be spotted everywhere and there are always signs supporting him. Hes a damn fine talker and.a damn talented wrestler. Other than mot being a jacked up behemoth, Punk has got a total package.

Austin and Rock and.HHH and Taker, etc got over because they were given opportuities and interesting angles that made fans care. Nobody gave two shits about Austin when he debuted. It wasnt until he was allowed to cut an edgy promo that revealed the kind of talent he had. If rt ou give fans.a reason to care, they will, and the response will merit the push, regardless of age.

Of course it should or really by that logic everyone should start at the bottom regardless of their tenure elsewhere and you end up like WCW with guys who were in the main event 10-15 years ago still in the main event. It worked wonders for them.

I think Kozlov couldve done a lot more in the WWE, he was solid enough in the ring, good and agile/fast for a big man and decent on microphone. WWE was too quick to turn him into a joke character imo and that HHH feud really hurt him.

I prefer the team of Jerry and Jack Brisco. They had a damn good run in the 70s and held multiple NWA tag team championships.

quite like the Briscoes since they amped up the redneck stuff, they could fill a role for Vince in the "current climate"

I like the Briscoes, but if they went to the WWE in less than six months they would be fueding with eachother, one would get pushed, the other dropped.

You just now they'd get Honkeytonk man as their manager or someone equally as southern, end up as the modern day version of the Godwinns.

It gives me a sour taste in the mouth to even suggest it, but.

They should go to TNA

At least their they have a recent history of actually caring about tag wrestling, in the WWE they won’t get used properly. Hell tag wrestling the WWE hasn’t meant shit since the Smackdown 6 got broken up

Their promos alone are worth more than WWEs whole tag division!

No way is that promo worth more than Primo and Epico!

I likes The Briscoes as a team, but I just can't see them in the WWE climate. Never could. Chris Hero & Claudio Castagnoli? Not a problem seeing them as a WWE team; but for whatever reason, I just can't picture The Briscoes in the WWE.

Dave Youell is correct in saying that TNA have longer cared about tag team wrestling, and there's more of a chance for them to make a splash there. The matches with The Motor City Machines Guns alone would be worth watching TNA. And then there's also the bouts with Magnus & Samoa Joe. Yeah, those would be cool, too.

I think they could have something to offer but only as part of a wider emphasis on the Tag Division, in no way would they "revitalize" the Tag scene by themseves.

As part of a division along the lines of:

The Dudley Boyz (who are rumoured to be headed back to WWE or failing that rehire Billy Gunn and bring back the Outlaws for a few months)
The Kings of Wrestling
Epico & Primo w/ Rosa
DiBiase & McGillicutty
The Usos
Reks & Hawkins
Jack Swagger & Alex Riley w/ "Coach" Ross (a heel J.R.)
Johnny Curtis & Derrick Bateman
Tyson Kidd & Justin Gabriel or Kidd & Kofi or Kofi & Gabriel

Take some/all of those teams, give them promo time, a gimmick/purpose/angle and I think Tag Team wrestling might start to mean something again.
