Not too long after that happened, Kurt Angle went to Twitter and said he would be in WWE 13. He retracted his statement hours later, saying he didn't know if he would be in.

Angle is the one Attitude Era TNA guy I could see them going out of their way to try and bring in to the game. I don't think WWE want Jeff Hardy anywhere near their games at this point, and as much as I love Al Snow and D'Lo Brown (not convinced that write-up was a D'Lo confirmation) I don't think they'd really bother going above and beyond to get them into the game.

Angle being in wouldn't hurt TNA at all, it'd just mean Kurt gets royalties. Plus Brock was still under UFC contract when he was put into the game last year so it's not exactly unprecedented. Team ECK Reunion in Attitude Era mode?</font>

JR was interviewed recently in regards to the commentary and he mentioned that the Attitude Era part of the game has a lot more ad libbed content for commentary than the modern/current portion which mostly follows the script THQ has for the game.

Jim Ross stated the following on his official blog:

Playing on legend is no challenge at all. All it is just constant reversals, rather then fighting agains't someone. I think the harder difficulties on No Mercy provided a perfect challenge, and really felt genuinely victorious when I did manage to beat the fucking AI on that game.

Unless the online promotion consisted of a guy running it and up to, say, 30 of his friends that he personally invites.
He then makes the card for TV events a day or two in advance, which sends a message to the ingame mailbox of that player, telling them the match, the day and the time.
The owner of the fed has access to who has won/lost and how often and can make matches based on that, if he likes.
A sort of "House Show" feature could be used as a "quick play" option, if you fancy having matches inbetween scheduled TV events, without prior organisation.

I'm not sure how you could work in the concept of promos or backstage scenes without it becoming a chore, so maybe it'd just be matches.

The online promotion can be judged by best match of the night rather than win/loss, and I think that would change things. I like the idea of a GM running things. He can put himself in matches as well. You can cap the players in the promotion to 20 and have two main championships (main event and mid-card). The GM could only use a Power 25 ranking to set championship matches, and the ranking will be based on the best matches rather than wins.

I used to do this back in the day with Smackdown vs raw 2006...
We did ECW Online, each person was picked a wrestler from the roster at random, cards were posted up a week in advance.

<font color=goldenrod>Seriously though, my thoughts on the roster are pretty much the same as it was when it was first leaked. The current roster is fine. But the Attitude Era one is just meh to me. Just way too many duplicates. Ledesma says that the Attitude Era versions of guys will have their own unique movesets and entrances.

Entrances, sure. But movesets? I doubt it. What's really going to be different? 1999 Big Show won't have a knockout punch. 1999 Jericho won't have a Codebreaker. 1999 Undertaker won't have the Hell's Gate or Last Ride. Hunter Hearst Helmsley will have different taunts than his other HHH counterparts. That's about it.

All in all it's really not a whole lot different than there being 2 Cody Rhodes' last year. But by making them their own roster spots they can artificially tout the largest roster to date. Same thing really with JBL, thuganomics Cena, and modern Edge/Lita. They'll have a different entrance and theme, that's about it. The only "surprise" was Laurinaitis getting in and I assumed he'd always get in as a NPC for Story Creator mode.

In the end, it all comes down to gameplay and I got bored of the last few games very quickly. Not a day 1 buy for me. I'll rent first and see how it goes.</font>

Even if you have to forego TNA guys like Sting, Chavo, Hogan, and Bischoff as the token authority figure, you can still have a really good roster. Oh, I know it's a marketing ploy, I get that. And it'll matter less if they up the CAW limit this year, which I feel like they are, but I can't remember hearing a definite yes or no yet.

With that said, it may be utterly pointless if they don't fix the stupid online servers.

In all honesty, the roster isn't going to ultimately kill the game. What's going to kill it is if it winds up being a rehash of last year, with nothing that was promised. They promised a revamp of the controls, which I have no issue with...That and I still haven't gotten the WWE12 controls down. Various other improvements, but there's gonna be things left alone so people are still gonna cry.

The biggest issue I see with the roster is the 3 Triple H's and the other multiples of wrestlers. That and missing some names.

Was curious who's on the current WWE roster and MIA, thought I'll do some comparing.

No Aksana, Alex Riley, Antonio Cesaro, Camacho, Curt Hawkins, Darren Young, Drew McIntyre, Evan Bourne, Ezekiel Jackson, Hornswaggle (unless he's a NPC again), Jey Uso, Jimmy Uso, Johnny Curtis, JTG, Kaitlyn, Layla, Mason Ryan, Michael McGillicutty, Natalya, Rosa Mendes, Ryback, Tamina, Tensai, Titus O'Neil, Trent Barreta, Tyler Reks, Tyson Kidd, Vickie Guerrero, William Regal or Yoshi Tatsu.

I'm curious if we'll see any of them being added via DLC, but I sadly can't see people paying for the majority of names there.

I can see the Divas being packaged together as a Divas DLC pack but probably safe to assume THQ is going to balance out the Attitude side with the Current side for any DLC packs.

If I had to guess I'd assume Antonio Cesaro, Darren Young, Drew McIntyre, Ryback, Tensai, and Titus O'Neil are the favorites for being potential DLC stars.

Pretty much all of the names you've listed I have reasons for liking to see as DLC.

Too Cool + Rikishi, but with the hope that you'll have the Too Cool dance with a victory. Kaientai, the Hardys and the Dudleyz would add to a great tag team division and if Gangrel being included guaranteed the Brood entrance, I'll be stoked.

EGMNow had a hands-on preview for the game recently.

Attitude Era mode has clips and footage from Raw and Nitro during the Monday Night Raw as a way to help tell the story.

Gamers will be able to relive that wild time through a blend of Yuke’s tried-and-true gameplay and WWE footage. The opening vignette of the Attitude Era mode sets the backdrop by recapping the WWF vs. WCW “Monday Night Wars” using footage from Monday Night Raw and WCW Monday Nitro. Clips of “Iron” Mike Tyson aligning with DX leading up to WrestleMania XIV were shown. The formation of WCW’s N.W.O. was used in an in-game timeline to provide context. Combining memorable events with interactive gameplay will give WWE ’13 a story mode that stands apart from its forerunners. “It’s one thing to watch it, but it’s a whole other thing to pick up that controller, play the game, and experience these moments for yourself,” said Williams.

Wrestler animations vary depending on who they are facing in a match so that cruiserwieghts vs big men play and look a lot different than a normal match. Walking and collision detection also has been improved by a lot.

Create-an-arena includes customizable crowd sizes, audience attire, stage, walls, and a lot of other stuff.

"Spectacular Moments" are a new feature and triggers when a mega spot or brutal spot is activated (ex. Taker tossing Foley off the top of the cell).

I think I would've liked it more if the cutscene would happen after a random amount of "rulebreaking". Sometimes it would happen after just one instance of shenanigans and others it may never happen and everywhere in between. I could see that maybe being frustrating for some players though, although I personally would probably prefer the unpredictability.

It's a great idea, but it needs a little unpredictability to it to really work. It'd be nice to set up a certain amount of damage before the replace in Universe mode, for example. Or on the other hand, have matches that are complete screw overs, then have the revenge play out on the next Raw or something.

Been like that since last year with WWE 12 and even THQ themselves said they are focusing less on graphics in order to improve everything else (besides server issues) as part of the re-branding of the series.

The idea is for more time to be spent working on other parts of the game and not using up 6-9 months mainly just working on graphics and detailed character models.
