Does anyone else have a hard time doing groggy grapples? It seems like I always end up doing the submission. I wonder if I'm not pushing the analog stick hard enough or at a angle instead of up, down, left, or right. Pissing me off. I can only see the anaconda vise so many times before I'm like FUCKKKKKKK. I love the epic setting though. My CAW had a kick ass debut match on NXT vs Daniel Bryan and I had an awesome NXT Championship scramble match that Billy Gunn won (My CAW/Ryder/Rhodes/Gunn/DiBiase). Then, the 3 way I had between Billy Gunn, my CAW, and John Cena with Special Guest Referee Cody Rhodes was stupendous in which my CAW prevailed via fast count to win the NXT Championship. No doubt the ensuing Billy Gunn/Cody Rhodes feud will be amazing.

Epic mode isn't just cheap countering. I've yet to scream "COME THE FUCK ON!!!!" like in years past on hard difficulties. It is back and forth and exciting and I actually feel like I'm trying to win instead of frantically pressing RT and hoping I can pull off a finisher eventually or keep purposefully breaking up pin attempts or letting go of submissions to make the match longer/more exciting.

Got it today, I wish there was a volume level adjustment for CAW custom theme music, it's already a bit of a faff to get music on the Xbox 360.

Only played Universe mode so far after creating my usual CAW and it's going okay. The low frequency of 2 counts ruins the immersion a bit, but overall it's exactly what I expected; WWE '12 with an updated roster and even more stuff gutted out and held back for DLC than last year. The game loads really fast on Xbox 360 though which is cool, I had all the older ones on PS3 and the load times sucked.

Time for my Black Friday 2012 story -

Went to WalMart on thursday with the main intent of getting WWE 13 on PS3 for $25. Electronics section was unreal, I've never seen a shopping experience like it - it was like one of those prison movies where the inmates are rioting. I lol'd pretty hard at the store employees screaming "SIR/MA'AM DO NOT FORCE YOUR WAY PAST ME, DO NOT STICK YOUR HANDS INTO THE DISPLAY CASE UNTIL I'VE REMOVED THE PLASTIC!!!" :lol:

Well~ after wading my way in, I see there's no copies of '13 left. Off to the side, there's this tall guy, a customer, with prison tattoos going up his arms, holding a stack of about 20 games. He's handing out copies of various shit, yelling "I've got a Call of Duty, who wants it? I got a Borderlands 2, who wants a Borderlands 2???" I ask him if he has any copies of WWE 13 - his answer? "Duuuuuh, no way! There was only 3, and I got all of 'em :D"

-Is the server still absolute shit (d/c every-time you search a CAW, etc)
-How "free" is universe mode in a general scale (e.g. full CAW immersion etc)

I don't play online so maybe someone else can put in their two cents about that. Yet to put a CAW through universe, slowly trying to make it through year one. They fixed some things like being able to edit an entire card before you start it, vacate title options, easy roster edits and all that but the general flow is about the same as last year. Cut scenes have been few and far between.

Attitude era mode is pretty sweet. You should play through that.

I have a feeling universe will be the focus next year since attitude was this year. Just a guess.

Just picked this up last night and I am highly impressed.

I have only done a few parts of Attitude Era thus far, but the gameplay is amazing. I didn't buy 12 for good reason, but glad I picked up this one. The way the models move, make contact and even SELL is better than any previous WWE game I have played.

Just played through the HIAC with HBK vs Taker, followed by the Montreal Screwjob. Awesome how they use actual audio from back in the day.

My first complaint about it though..... they were still the "WWF" back then and everytime F or Federation is mentioned, they block the audio..... so it sounds like shite. Hell, they call the belt the WWE belt back then, why couldn't they do a wee bit of editing? :(

I wanna start a new tag team/stable with my CaW and CM Punk. I try to do it in Universe mode, but my CaW isn't an option, not only for Punk, but for anyone to tag with. How can I change this? I remember in WWE '12, all you had to do was put the two you wanted in a stable in a few tag matches and do a few tag moves, and you'd get the message that they can now be a tag team.

The models (mostly) are shit. But the gameplay, especially attitude era, is the best any wrestling game has ever offered. Yes, better than No Mercy :shifty:

I got this for Christmas, and promptly gave Mankind the US title. I had a match with Christian and during the victory cutscene Foley's arms kept disappearing or both were appearing on the same side depending on the camera angle and how he moved. Gameplay was fun though.

Good game so far. I'm really loving the Attitude Era aspect...although, I have yet to win the Royal Rumble with Austin. The shaky camera angles makes it hard to catch the button cues at the right time so I can eliminate anyone.

All in all, much better effort than last year. The character models look a bit better, but still not as good as they probably could be.

I only have a few complaints so far:
Universe Mode: There are very few matches that you can interfere in.

I've realized that I put on extremely awesome shows in Universe Mode, but there is no reward. I think that with the next game, they need to give it a little more of a GM Mode feel. I know not a lot of people didn't like GM Mode, but I loved it. Making feuds, matches, hyping up new acquisitions and returns from injuries. It was the goods.

Throw that in with Universe Mode, and you've got me hooked for hours and hours.

The CaS is the exact same thing every year, with maybe a couple new moves and new shirts thrown in. I don't understand why they can't have the game find your CaS save data from the previous game and use that as your guy. You wouldn't have to start all over.

Speaking of CaS, I also don't understand why they don't just give them default maximum stats. Do they really believe that people aren't going to do that anyway? It's just tedious. Also, why do you have to change your entrance when you win a title? I put all that time ande effort into making an awesome intro, just to have it all change to something else as soon as I win a title? Considering that there are so many titles in the game, you'll probably go strapless for a whole 5 matches.
The announcing gets messed up every once in a while when CaS are making their entrances, especially with a team or trio. Say for example your guy's name is "The Rattlesnake Steve Austin," it will sometimes announce them as "Rattlesnake Steve Austin The."

If they're going to take up so much time loading wrestlers and titles before every entrance, make them look better. Titles look like they float above their shoulders and around their waist. It's not really bad with the main roster, but with CaS, it's pretty bad and has been for years.

I don't know about anyone else, but I notice too that there are a lot of spots in the game where it lags to a snail's pace. I don't know if maybe it's just my copy or if it's for everyone, but it's rather annoying. Especially in relates to countering.

Arenas would be awesome as DLC as well.

All in all, a good wrestling game. Probably the best I've ever played. Will definetley keep playing. All the good outweighs the bad by a HUGE margin.

The flip side to that, though is that if you are a SGR and just “do your job” normally and call pins/submissions/count-outs, you’ll notice a cool new wrinkle they’ve added: if a superstar in the match attacks you, you can press pin/submit/count-out once you come to again and DQ them. :D

The announcing gets messed up every once in a while when CaS are making their entrances, especially with a team or trio. Say for example your guy's name is "The Rattlesnake Steve Austin," it will sometimes announce them as "Rattlesnake Steve Austin The."

If they're going to take up so much time loading wrestlers and titles before every entrance, make them look better. Titles look like they float above their shoulders and around their waist. It's not really bad with the main roster, but with CaS, it's pretty bad and has been for years.

I don't know about anyone else, but I notice too that there are a lot of spots in the game where it lags to a snail's pace. I don't know if maybe it's just my copy or if it's for everyone, but it's rather annoying. Especially in relates to countering.

Arenas would be awesome as DLC as well.

All in all, a good wrestling game. Probably the best I've ever played. Will definetley keep playing. All the good outweighs the bad by a HUGE margin.

I remember when I picked up SvR '09, I did a Santina Marella CaS that was pretty spot-on if I do say so myself, because that was the last time (at least that I can remember) that you could start with a male superstar build and give them female apparel, makeup, jewelry, accessories, etc. Wish they’d bring that back.

About the ring announcing, I definitely feel ya on that one, homie...I created a mediocre (and that’s probably too kind of a term) at best Benoit and was disappointed that “Chris” was choosable as a name but I had to use “Ben” and then “Wall” for the last name so every time I use him I get stilted/robotic/wooden-sounding announcing: “Chris...Ben...Wall”. Shit fucking reminds me of the God-awful commentary in WWF SD!: J.B.I.

first off remove the type of story you least want to see,

secondly set up all the people you want in rivalries with one another(if you use the main roster) just clear out their enemies and put the person you want them to feud with in the middle, if you have anybody you want to have assist somebody add the assister to the assistee second lowest ally slot,

third CHANGE NOTHING on the card when I say nothing I mean NOTHING, the only thing you may change is the attire and match type AT the PPV because the storyline will have ran its course but even then changing participants may often create a clusterfuck

4th (optional) always pick the team/wrestler to the left (the center in 3 ways) on the week to week bases you may see the same match but the participants switch sides, the game is telling you which side to pick for more satisfying progression (storylines will acclimate to the person you choose over time but keep to this if you are impatient)

5th (optional) delete ppvs make them 5-6 weeks apart the game will legitimately attempt to make weekly TV more exciting, I have one indy fed (7 ppvs a year) and one WWE show(13 ppvs a year) and I adhere to the same principles for both but the indy fed is far more driven than the WWE show

these 3 essential rules (and two optional) can dramatically change your universe experience, its best to create a roster without bias so you can be okay with the facet whoever wins wins

yes and no, its good to establish actual stables but other alliances can be restricting

I'll be sure to change nothing, but is it okay to give a competitor a manager? I'm guessing it's not.
I dont even select my superstar until the match starts soooo I'd say no managers

Can I change the arena for a match/event? I'm guessing no on that one too.
never tried it IDK how that would effect it, because the game thinks if you change anything in match creator you essentially put a cage around the ring, but cutscenes can happen in any arena so I really don't know

Should I reset Universe before I start it and begin setting up rivalries?
you don't have to, just finish your next PPV and before you advance do the setup steps then advance to the show, thats what I did

I haven't even began Universe (I've been spending the past couple months creating characters and constructing their move-sets), but I'm surprised you can delete Pay Per Views. And you created a whole fed with its own pay-per-views? That's cool. See that's what I'm so apprehensive about. I'm afraid if I create stuff like that and put it in Universe it will reduce the number of storylines I get.
I have guys like X-Pac and NAO active on my roster since (before Road Dogg became an agent) they were all still active on the indys but all of my best angles come from my CAWs, and the lack of PPVs makes storylines that much better

I actually almost screwed myself on it. I thought the Multiplayer Online Axxess pack and Fan Axxess thing were coupled together. A code for Online came with the game,so I thought that was everything. Then I thought I needed Gold to get the Fan Axxess pack and DLC's, but found I could purchase each person seperately. I ALMOST did it, but then someone said I had to enter it through the Redeem code through the Dashboard.

That worked and I felt stupid. Got everything now, just waiting for Monday or Tuesday when the DLC is released.

Am I the only one having trouble with DLC pack 2 (on 360)? I have Fan Axxess and it seems that whenever I download pack 2, I can't play. The demo starts, and I can navigate the menus but I can't play exhibition at all. It freezes before the entrances start (either before or during the loading screen coming up). Doesn't matter if I turn the entrances off, either. Haven't really tried the other modes but I assume it's the same.

I've backed up my game and started fresh, deleting all the content and it plays perfectly fine, until I redownload the pack and it's the same (even on a game with nothing unlocked, no CAWs, etc). I don't have the problem with day one DLC, only after I've downloaded AJ, Ryback, etc.

The problem with the engine is that if you know how to play well, it's not really a challenge. That's why I take it for what it's worth and "work" AI matches. Usually getting beaten down for a bit makes it a lot more tense, too.

That would be my guess. They had already planned and created all the DLC for the game by day one, and just were too lazy to update shit. I kinda understand, but to a larger extent I just feel kinda pissed off.

Although I did take advantage of the accelerator to unlock all the shit I hadn’t unlocked yet, and it’s pretty awesome seeing the Cena custom U.S. Championship c. 2004, and being able to change one of Brock’s finishers to the Kimura lock. :cool:
