* The Ability to Vacate Titles - this is something that was highly requested for the past several installments, and it is now something that we can do once again. Even better, we can create matches in Universe that are for the vacated title. So, if you’re one of the players who don’t really acknowledge the divas or the tag division, you can make one of your shows consist of neither championship.

* Choose your stories - Don’t like tag team splitting storylines? Well, now you can turn off the storylines you don’t like, and they won’t happen in your Universe anymore!

* To Be Injured, or not to be injured? - Injuries were a cool addition to Universe last year, but haunted some players by happening too frequently. Now, players get the ability to turn on or off injuries.

* Statistics - Now you can observe your in-game statistics in regards to superstars, Pay-Per-Views, titles, and more! The statistics are enhanced and in-depth, and allow you to follow the history of your universe.


* Full customization - Configure your own unique storylines, arenas, pay-per-views, and schedule – entirely. Want shows every day of the week? You can do that. Plus, map out storylines and make decisions in-game that will branch out the storylines even further. From now on, instead of turning on a partner, you’ll get an option to decide if that’s what you want to do or not.Last year, the ability to play through an entire card in one sitting was difficult without exiting to the menu if you were the type to want to customize your match card further. Now, you can edit the match cards to fit your liking before playing through. Want another brand, and not just RAW and Smackdown? With WWE ’13, you can make it happen! Now, players get the joy of having more matches per show as well. But with the ability to edit rankings, full cards, the entire weekly/monthly/yearly schedule, storylines, and pretty much anything else you can think of, players should be able to find a way to accommodate for this. We should also mention that these custom storyline ideas were not just THQ’s thinking – but the creating of legendary Wrestling mastermind, Paul Heyman.
* Create/Edit a Show/Pay-Per-View - Now you’ll be able to select any day of the week and place a show on it. You’ll also be able to create/edit your own Pay-Per-View events. When creating these, like last year you’ll get to choose your own arena (or an in-game arena), logo for the show, rename the show anything you’d like, and, in the case of Create A Pay-Per-View, you’ll be able to select a Pay-Per-View theme such as “Extreme Rules”, “Fatal 4-Way”, or “TLC”, among others – which will make the overall idea of the PPV event be based on the real life events. Choose a TLC theme, and your main events will be TLC matches. It’s a feature that allows the player to have their personal pay-per-views have the right feel that they want them to have. If it’s a hardcore show, set the Extreme Rules setting for the theme and it’ll feel the way it’s supposed to. For those PPVs you create that do NOT have a necessary theme to them, you can select Default. You’ll also choose a host show so that, for example, if you want a RAW exclusive PPV that does not feature any Smackdown talent, you can make that happen. You can, of course, use custom shows as default shows as well.

Create An Arena

Create an Arena has so many great features this year. First of all, we’ve already mentioned the ability to edit the stage. This feature offers 20 different templates for doing so. You also get the option of arena size, which can be selected as Independent, Regular, Large, Tribute to the Troops (outdoor arena), and WrestleMania 19 (outdoor arena). The available 20 stage designs are last year’s custom arena stage, a second custom stage design, Royal Rumble 97, Royal Rumble 98, Survivor Series 97, Survivor Series 98, The Smackdown Oval Arena, One Night Only, Over the Edge 98, King of the Ring, Summerslam 98, Summerslam 2004, Judgement Day 98, Judgement Day 2004, Raw 2002, Rock Bottom 98,, St. Valentine’s Day Massacre 99, WrestleMania 15, Raw 2006, and Smackdown 2006. Let’s dig a little deeper.

Stage Designer: Your stage, ring apron/mat, and additional ringside areas all get 15 layers each, giving you 45 layers of creative freedom. As for the Stage itself, you can apply logos (custom or pre-existing) to specific parts of the stage, change stage elements such as lighting fixtures, titantrons, and the scaffolds with preset options, and turn on or off titantrons and/or minitrons. You’ll spend hours making arenas you’ve always dreamed of. Each template has presets you’ll be able to work with and around.Along with this, you can edit the lighting in the arena, helping to make your show feel even more original.

Q&A write-up, answers in bold.

How many Spectacular Moments can you do per match?

Spear through Barricade 4x(one on each corner), Breaking the Announcing Table once, Catching finisher no limit, and Superplex through Ring once as the one who does it wins.

Can you reverse mid-air finishers?

Catching finishers are the reversal and the timing is the same as if it were a normal diving move, and catching finishers can't be reversed.

Are mid-air finishers(catching finishers) limited to certain superstars?

No, moves that you can catch are Codebreaker, RKO, Attitude Adjustment, GTS, Worlds Strongest Slam, Chokeslam, Tombstone and Super Kick so as long as you have any variation of those moves in your moveset you can do it.

What goes into adding a new wrestler?

100 days to make a new model, going to events to take photographs of superstars, their gear, tattoos ect. then it's mo-capping movesets and entrances.

Are the servers going to be improved in WWE '13?

We are not giving up and still working of the WWE '12 servers and even though it's really late we are seeing improvents that will carry into WWE '13 and '13 should have a better performance than WWE '12 did and we're also working on '13s software performance.

Are Special Referee matchs limited to 1-on-1 matchs or can we do more such as Fatal-4-Way?

Yes, there are 16 variation such as Fatal-4-Way, Tag Team, Extreme Rules, HIAC, Triple Threat to name some, and if you abuse it, John Laurinaitis comes out with another ref(Lil' Naitch) to replace you(complete with Ace's voice over).

Will there guest referee shirts?

No.

Any control changes?

No, and catching finisher are mapped to the finisher button.

Any changes to Comeback Moments?

No, and there are 3 new ones, CM Punk, Big Show and Sheamus.

Is there Kinect support?

No.

How long will it take to complete Attitude Era Mode?

10-14 hrs and when you do you don't need to play through it again if you want to play a certain match.

What new chants are in WWE '13?

Let's go Cena/Cena Sucks, YES! YES! YES!, Boots 2 Asses.

Can we have multiple versions of superstar fight eachother?

Yes.

1) Sounds like WWE 13 servers are still going to cause problems but not as bad as last year. Would have been better to rehaul the whole thing than to keep patching something that kept being semi-broken each year.

2) Would have been pretty dumb to not have that be possible since it would defeat the purpose of having multiple versions of the same wrestler.

Well, strictly speaking, that isn't the purpose of them at all. But it would rule out a lot of options, like having a current roster vs Attitude royal rumble would be impossible due to all the doubles.

Been like that for the past few years in regards to any wrestling game from THQ on the Wii. Either it barely gets reviewed by places or THQ promises a bunch of stuff and ends up forgetting to mention its not in that version or barely works.

Then again most of the time the Wii version is literally just the PS2 version with a few control changes.

Can I be a real life wrestler in OCW?

Absolutely not. We pride ourselves on our imagination, and as such, all current and past CAWs in OCWfed are built from the ground up. They have their own gimmicks, mannerisms, movesets, attires - they are completely unique. Often a user will take inspiration from a real life wrestler, but they mould and shape the character how they see fit.

How are shows structured in OCW?

We have a weekly "Television" show - OCW Riot (315 episodes and counting), where our storylines and matches take place - supplemented by a monthly Pay Per View event. Unlike other feds, every single match on all of our shows is recorded and uploaded (It's been that way since 2005), meaning that our show is as close to a real life event as you're going to get match wise. On the storytelling front, we tend to use RPs (Roleplaying), where you tell your story in the form of a written script. Not good at writing? Cool - we also cater for guys who want to make video RPs - there are plenty of guys who will help you out with this. When all the content is submitted via our submission area, the show will be posted (Usually a card is posted a week before the show is uploaded). Matches are booked by a GM, but its down to the competitors to hook up to do the match.

A show is comprised of a complete five page website, where all the content is available whenever you want it. This process means that, again like other efeds, we have 8 years of content CONSTANTLY available, and ready for you to watch. Are there any rules in OCW?

We operate a "Fair Play Rules" policy which is backed up by a three strikes and you're out protocol. FPR isn't as strict as it once was, but there are some key things you have to keep in mind when playing an OCW match. Firstly, your CAW must be 82 OVR and have no stats over 85. The next (and pretty much final rule) is respect your opponent. No constant running moves, hacks, standing over them so they can't get up. Reversing might be easy in this game, but thats no reason for you to constantly rush your opponent.

How do I join OCW?

Easy! Get yourself a copy of WWE 12 (13 when it arrives), an Xbox 360 and a gold membership- head to http://www.ocwfed.com/ and register for an account. There is a process whereby you will be evaluated (In order to keep undesirable players out). To speed this up, you can play "Dark Matches" with other members, and if you're not one of those undesirables, you'll become a full member of the roster. It's as simple as that. When you arrive though, its important to understand that you won't be OCW champion in a week. Just like real life, you have to earn your spot - prove yourself against the best.

Got my advance copy yesterday, and played the crap out of it last night.

Few notes -


Gameplay is very similar to '12, but feels a lot more polished.

The OMG moments are pretty cool, and fighting on the commentary table is a welcome return.

The ring break is cool, but not something I'll be using on a regular basis, if ever again tbh.


Create an arena is pretty awesome, and there's a lot to fiddle with and keep you busy.

CAW is exactly the same as always, with a few parts added here and there (noting that they added Andre's bushy sideburns to facial hair)


Attitude mode is pretty awesome, IMO. If you've played the 'relive' mode on Legends of WM, expect the same formula, but much better.

The whole mode plays out in order, so the first chapter is the rise of DX, which ends with the 'Screwjob', then the following story, Austin 3:16, picks right up from there. It's fun to play through. So far I've cleared the 1st 2 chapters, now on Brothers of Destruction, having just played KOTR 98 (Which included beating Rock as Shamrock for KOTR, HIAC, and First Blood)

Haven't looked at Universe that much yet, I always play the story first. But upon a glance, its a lot more in depth, especially with the ability to hold a show on each day. I see Universe being a big factor in replaying.

Hugely. Basically at the start of a match you'll get objectives (which also can be brought up in the corner of the screen during gameplay for reference by pressing back).

The main objective to continue the story is 'win by pinfall or submission. But then you have 'historical objectives' which recreate moments from the real match.

Don't get me wrong though, these aren't 'press A to finish the match with a cutscene' like in 12. Sometimes they trigger a small cutscene mid match which then progress on to you finishing the match after the scene (an example being Kane interfering in HIAC 1) They are excellently done and a lot of fun to watch unfold.


All in all, Attitude mode in itself is a lot of fun and I think for the first time in many years (especially the RTWM years) I'll be replaying a story mode in a WWE game!

Just the write up of the Attitude era stuff made it seem better than the RTWM from the last few years, I only play through that once anyway so knowing the outcome wasn't a problem, hows the side objectives in the matches work out, yay/nay?

Pretty fantastically with a lot of them triggering a cutscene like starting on top of the cell at KOTR 1998 after throwing Mankind off the cell the doctors coming out to wheel him away and getting to chokeslam him through the top.

The only issue I find with it is when you know about key moments that don't happen and they don't put them in. Like the finish to the WM14 match has Tyson slide in to make the count, but why not fight near the DX band? There are QTEs for some cutscenes, so why not have one to block sweet chin music when you go for the stunner for a proper finish?

The same with the Kane/Austin first blood match. Mankind comes down with a chair, then the Undertaker does and there's a QTE to take out the ref then Take smashes Austin, but the cell doesn't come down. Just feels like the whole package again needed more polish. I can see why there's so many omissions, there's a lot of content and only a year to get it done, but it is a let down. The mark out moments do help at least.

I really hope they take a year off when the next consoles are out, or have a next-gen team taking a couple of years on the next game and a current gen to get WWE 14 or 15 whichever it is out on the current gen.

Really, because I had a blast with WWE12's multiplayer last year. I'm personally done comparing this series to ten year old wrestling games that simply will not come back or have their legacy challenged ever. No Mercy was awesome. DoR2 was awesome. I know that, I've said that.

WWE12 was fun multiplayer and the adjustments made with 13 points to a smoother experience. There's too many options and ways to play to just generalize it by saying, "Well it's not as good as [insert early 2000s wrestling game here]".

I mean by now you guys know I haven't the patience for campaign as I once did and multiplayer is make it or break it for a lot of games I get into. The WWE series, since the beginning imo, was about Create-A-______ and getting a bunch of controllers and going crazy.

It blew my mind in the last few years that story-modes got that important to the point of people buying/not buying the game over it. And quite frankly it's something I don't think any game will ever get right.

We don't even play seriously competitive. The only competition, and rightfully so, is who can give the best spots or match of the night. We have 1v1s when we do a 'show' complete with acting out real or CAW characters. We have 3/4plyr matches when to break the pace and get everybody on. Me playing wrestling games is not how I approach fighting games or FPS games. This series did a good job facilitating that.

It has everything it needs to be a great get together game, with the one issue being teaching a newcomer the controls. Once that's out of the way, it's a slobbernocker.

Michael Cole and JR are so annoying during submission holds. Whoever is applying it, they keep saying "Good reversal by X" "Oh, well scouted by X" "X saw that coming!" thinking they are in a string of reversals instead of an actual submission hold.

Couple of achievements seem glitched. One is to compete for a custom championship in a custom arena with a custom superstar. The other is beating Taker on legend at WM, but this might just have to be done in Universe mode rather than exhibition.

Pretty sure you can't put titles on the line anymore in either exhibition or Universe, unless I'm missing it.

I know. Just went back and booted 12 to remember how it handled it and if you book a match as champion, you hit start when it asks "Title Match?". Yup, gonzo.

Really hoping there's a day 1 patch for it up today for at least the achievements and the title matches, because they must know they're broken.
