Throwaway match with Burch and Ryan. Feel like Ryan hasn't ever had a storyline on NXT. Still dreaming of a United Kingdom stable headed up by Regal. Could start here on NXT, bringing Ryan and Burch under his wing, attempting to 'woo' Neville, etc.

Neville-Graves fails to capture my interest. I do love "The Savior of Misbehaviour" moniker though.

No Zayn again. Guess JBL was right. Hoping he'll be back to spoil Bo's homecoming.

I'm not sure just how over they can get with such a stereotypical gimmick, and I am fearful that the plug will be pulled on them any day, but I really think they could be something in the right context. Using them on NXT at present is the best way to go with them, I think -- because they can win the titles and work on face characters before putting over a new heel team.

Awesome debut at an NXT house show. Spoilered in case you want to wait for a TV debut.

Kalisto (the former Samuray del Sol, who notably brought his "lucha, lucha" chant over to WWE) came out after intermission to hype the rest of the events for the evening. NXT is basically having their new talent test their in-ring promo ability by having them as hype men, to those who might be confused.

Kalisto did his glowing baton routine, which actually is kinda cool, and he was about to do the traditional live event "hyping up the crowd by giving away free stuff" bit, when the lights went out and the sound you usually hear during an Emergency Broadcast Signal blared over the speakers. The lights were flickering, so you could barely tell at first, but someone had attacked Kalisto.

The lights came on to reveal Solomon Crowe, who has a very maniacal look on his face, with his finger hovering over a tablet, indicating that he basically has the entire arena hacked.

Without a word, he presses a button on his tablet, shutting off the lights and setting off the EBS alarm, and disappears.

Riley was being a jerk heel. It's a little inconsistent, I'll grant you, but he's trying to be a color man. He was given geeky Tom shit for not being a hero when he is a trained competitor himself. Tom could be explained as being too scared of Riley to open his mouth.

Alexander Rusev is pretty good. Lana is hot. I like the potential of their relationship, but something about it still seems awkward. I think it just needs some explanation. Kassius Ohno was really solid at pretty much everything, but he got demolished pretty good here. Was this his last NXT appearance?

Leo Kruger is growing on me. His promo work is quite creepy. Sami Zayn is so damn likable. I could really get into their feud. I like the idea of Kruger wanting to be a Real American. It's like he has no interest in America, but he just wants to roll with those guys because it means success.

The Kruger gimmick was pretty interesting although with him getting a completely new gimmick, your probably right on him being there a lot longer now. Too many people are ahead of him for possible promotion and if the new gimmick fails, even more time is going to be needed.

I actually like Rawley's finisher. If Mysterio can use a seated senton as a finisher, someone who weighs over 100 pounds more can as well. That said, Rawley really, really needs a new pre-finisher move. That ass... bump... thing needs to go.

I do get what you're saying about Dawson, but I think he has a place as a comedy character on the main roster. I think he'd be an interesting commentator somewhere too -- perhaps on Superstars instead of Alex Riley.

Rawley does need a new finishing move. The dude is huge -- give him something with some power. What would be wrong with a TKO or something? Even that might be a little generic for him.

I'm trying to picture what move you're talking about with Erick Rowan. Do you mean like a sidewalk slam? I think I remember Rowan doing that. I miss the days when multiple guys could use the same move. It could lead to interesting match-ups down the line. Rowan is actually big enough to pull off a Chokeslam. Let him do that so the idea of Harper and Rowan being monsters really gets drilled into people's heads.

Have a tournament of masked competitors. El Local can compete and Tyson Kidd can bust out his masked persona. You can bring in indie works and put them in masks, or you can just slap one of Davey Richards and have him go out there as "Dynamite." Kalisto can be the decisive winner of the tournament and become the new masked icon of NXT. It creates a back-story for him when he gets called up to the main roster too. He's not just a masked guy who showed up, but was the best unsigned masked competitor in the world. Gives him a reason to go after guys like Sin Cara and Rey Mysterio too.

Or they can just have him come in, hype him as the "King of Flight" and he can win a lot of matches and get really over.

<font color=goldenrod>Regal's promo was superb. There's just something about the way he carries himself that makes you want to believe everything he says - and his whole "old villain" persona is perfect at this stage in his career. The fact that he's doing what so few wrestlers in North America do and actually aging gracefully is wonderful; he's turning the fact that he's past his prime and not in the best shape into an integral part of his character, rather than trying to pretend that he's as good as he always was. That said, he's still ten times better than half the regular roster anyway.

The match itself, wow. Maybe the best match I've seen all year. It was exactly what I want from a wrestling match - a good mix of styles, two very complimentary performers, some innovative spots mixed in with solid technical wrestling - and real technical wrestling, not indie-fied "hold/counter-hold/applause spot" choreographed bullshit, but dirty, sloppy grappling, raking the eyes, reaching for whatever body parts you can find wrestling. Throw in some great spots, innovative counters, the big show of strength spots from Cesaro (sometimes all of those things in the space of a few seconds), and Regal playing his role of the veteran with a point to prove to absolute perfection...it doesn't get better. And that finish was incredible.

It shows that you don't need the amount of bells and whistles and gimmicks that WWE tend to put on self-consciously "big" matches to make people care about them. You don't need self-indulgent sequences of finisher spams and lying on your back for five minutes only to hit a finisher "out of nowhere" to build drama. People are more than prepared to get emotionally invested in a story told solely through wrestling. Cesaro realising that he might have gone too far after the double stomp, and being reluctant to bring himself to hurt Regal any further...that was a strong, emotionally resonant moment, and the entire match built perfectly to that point.</font>

I still haven't had a chance to watch the Regal vs. Cesaro match, but it sounds BRILLIANT! Regal earned his way to being one of my favorites through his humble charisma and the way he speaks with conviction. If Goldust can still get opportunities to tear it up on the big stage, I hope that we haven't seen the last of William Regal. Cesaro is one of my favorite wrestlers in the world at the moment. He does things that just look so amazing and real.

Right so I've only watched the last two episodes of NXT.

My thoughts after watching with 'Fresh Eyes'

The Good

- Kane/Kofi - Big star appearances can only be a good thing.

- Fans pop on hearing that Tyler Breeze has arrived in the building...WWE don't do this anymore but it made him seem like a 'Big Deal'. He was good in the ring and worked his gimmick really well...top marks. Loved him calling Adrian Neville so he didn't have to look at him.

- They havn't removed the guys who have moved to the main roster from the opening titles..Shows that these guys are on the verge of 'making it'

- Emma looks awesome...I always go for a piss when Diva segments come on...it's like a personal tradition...I didn't during Emma's match with Natalya that says alot to me....Bailey also looks pretty good...Summer Rae should never be allowed to lace up boots again...she's more suited to being a valet.

- Rusev looks like an absolute beast. Regal made a comment that managing him would just be a case of pointing and saying 'destroy'....Thats how he should be booked..Never.speak..Just maul and destroy at the behest of a really good voice guy,

- Sami Zayn - He's a cool gimmick away from being ready, His ringwork was really crisp and he's got that something a great underdog should have. I'd give him a spot in The Rumble... Three Way next week between Zayn, Breeze and English for the spot would be great.

- The Acension - Cool look, Good in the ring. Every ingredient there...Probably get called up soon. Proper team and loved that the tag titles were the main event this week.


The Bad

- The 'Sing - Off' was dreadful....made both guys look awful.

- Rusevs Valet was just annoying...Didnt get 'heat' from me...I just wanted her off the mic and indeed the screen.

- Aiden English's Gimmick is awful...Its like Cena's 'rapper' but irrelevant in its time. He's decent in the ring though.

- Colin Cassady looks really 'gangly' He'd benefit from getting into some pants like most other workers with that body type do... Nash/Test etc

- Xavier running straight at Rusev at the start of the match..Sure it makes him look like he's full of 'heart' but NOBODY should approach Rusev without caution.

I'll be watching in future though..I was overall very impressed.

Bayley is just adorable and a pretty good worker. She joins Paige and Emma as Divas who could shake up the babyface side of the female division on the main roster. Paige and Emma are about due to be called up (Paige is an obvious choice and Emma has been working house shows and is also amazing). Bayley can step up in this time and do some work with Summer Rae, Sasha Banks (my pick to take the NXT Women's Title from Paige) and Charlotte. She may find some allies in the likes of Becky Lynch and Sarah Blackman (or whatever her ring name is).

The next set of tapings have been done:

* Sin Cara, Summer Rae and Sasha Banks greeted fans before the tapings.

* Triple H kicks off the tapings and talks about how far NXT has came. He announces that after the January 30th tapings, NXT will air live on the WWE Network with a one-time special on the night of the February 27th tapings.

* Brando Rhodes is introduced as a ring announcer, using that name.

January 15th Episode:

* Adrian Neville defeated Wesley Blake.

* Alexander Rusev defeated Xavier Woods with the camel clutch. Lana cut a promo before the match. After the match, Rusev attacked Kofi while he was down. Sin Cara ran out and made the save. "Hunico" chants started up which caused a lot of laughter in the crowd.

* Antonio Cesaro defeated CJ Parker in an easy match with The Neutralizer.

* Sami Zayn came out on crutches to a big pop. He says 2014 will be a much better year for him. Zayn wants a rematch against Antonio Cesaro from their famous 2 of 3 Falls match. Cesaro comes out, shakes Zayn's hand and turns down the challenge.

* Natalya defeated Summer Rae by submission. This was described as one of the better NXT TV matches for the Divas. Sasha Banks and Bayley argued at ringside and taunted each other.

January 22nd Episode:

* The Ascension defeated two local wrestlers.

* Corey Graves defeated Camacho by submission. Graves cut a promo before the match and said he can't forgive Adrian Neville.

* Bo Dallas comes out and cuts a promo. Adrian Neville interrupts and wants a title shot. Triple H comes out and announces a Beat The Clock match for right now. Neville wins, beats it and will get a NXT Title match at the live NXT special on the WWE Network on February 27th. Dallas tries to attack Neville got Neville got the upperhand.

January 29th Episode:

* Bayley with Natalya vs. Sasha Banks with Charlotte and Summer Rae is up next. Bayley wins by pinfall.

* Colin Cassaday vs. Tyler Breeze is up next. Breeze gets the win with help from Aiden English.

* The Miz defeated CJ Parker with the Figure Four in what was called a sleeper of a match.

* Renee Young hosts a contract signing between Bo Dallas and Adrian Neville for the live NXT on February 27th on the WWE Network. Bo doesn't show up at first but finally comes out and tells Neville to watch and learn. Neville watches as Bo defeats a local unknown wrestler. Bo then signed the contract and brawled with Neville.

February 5th Episode:

* Alexander Rusev defeated Sin Cara.

* Emma defeated Alicia Fox in a quick match. After the match, Emma cut a promo about being #1 contender. She said Paige isn't 100% right now but when she is, Emma wants her title shot. Summer Rae, Sasha Banks and Charlotte run out and attack Emma until Natalya and Bayley make the save.

* Mason Ryan defeated Sylvester Lefort in a squash match.

* Tyson Kidd defeated Aiden English with help from Colin Cassaday.

* Adrian Neville defeated Corey Graves by pinfall. This was a good physical match fought in and out of the ring. After the match, Bo Dallas attacks Neville and they fight. Triple H announces their February 27th live match on the WWE Network for the title will be a Ladder Match.

February 12th Episode:

* Emma, Bayley and Natalya defeated Sasha Banks, Summer Rae and Alicia Fox. Summer and Sasha ended up walking out on Alicia, causing her to be submitted. Charlotte was with Summer and Sasha.

* Aiden English defeated Colin Cassaday.

* Sami Zayn comes out and talks more about wanting Antonio Cesaro in a 2 of 3 Falls rematch. Cesaro comes and taunts Zayn. They argue. Zayn goes for a handshake but Cesaro won't. Cesaro kicks Zayn's injured knee out and walks off. Triple H appears and says he heard Zayn's knee will be better in time for the live February 27th show on the WWE Network. Cesaro vs. Zayn is announced for that show.

* CJ Parker defeated Tye Dillinger in a quick match.

* Erick Rowan and Luke Harper vs. Jason Jordan and Marcus Louis is next. Rowan and Harper get the win as Bray Wyatt watched from ringside in his rocking chair. Daniel Bryan was not there. After the match, Bray hits Sister Abigail and cuts a promo.

Before the announcement of the WWE Network, I always envisioned NXT eventually putting on "specials." I always imagined Bo Dallas vs. Sami Zayn in a Ladder Match for the NXT Title and Paige vs. Emma for the Women's Title at the very first one. Tyler Breeze vs. Adrian Neville would have been a nice touch, as well.

I hope that in the future, NXT runs a "Clash of the Champions" live show, with the NXT Champion vs. WWE World Champion, NXT Tag Champs vs. WWE Tag Champs and Women's Champ vs. Divas Champ. You could also run an IC Champion vs. US Champion match if you wanted to pad the show out.

That Rusev/Kingston match was the first time I have seen the NXT fans dump all over something. I like Rusev, he just need to learn to be more... I dunno... "interactive" with the fans. Engage them more.

They've done it before in the past for several of Bo Dallas matches.

Rusev isn't that bad as a wrestler but his biggest problem is he's slowly becoming just another typical big man monster heel that Vince/WWE still favor way too much. He's a bit bland character-wise now for NXT but fits perfectly as someone to be fed to Cena/another top face for the main roster like almost every other big man heel.

Just watched NXT, and a few notes...
I kinda wish the show was 90 mins. An hour is just not enough, but two hours might be too much. Just 30 mins of promo time, all I'm asking.

Tyler Breeze vs Colin was a great finish. I was going to be mad if Tyler went over, but I was also going to be made if Colin went over cleanly. They did what I wanted, which left me a happy fan.

I wish they would have mentioned Russev in the rumble. A guy who has beaten Kingston went into the rumble- that's news worthy.

CJ Parker VS The Miz.... I'm not sure what would have been more upsetting. Parker going over Miz, or Miz going over Parker. At this point I was too shitfaced to care.

I can't recall the exact word, but during the Bailey vs Banks match, Rene Young had the perfect opportunity to make an EMMA pun, and passed it over... Now that I think about it, I think the word was Emanating.

They said Camacho is now a singles wrestler, which makes me wonder (in KayFabe) what the fuck happened to Hunico?

Pretty sure in Post Production they threw the word "Wolves" in the Ascension match when they mentioned The American Pitbulls. Or was it the other way around? Either way they're signed by TNA so I couldn't care less.

The ending was... mild. I'm pretty sure you could hear a guy in Row 19 Seat GH text his wife saying "I'm having an affair with you, I swear. I'm not watching a contract signing that the fans are not into."

All in all.... As much as I love Prince Pretty, this was the worst NXT I've seen, ever.
