Brody and Segal have been excellent together. Tracy Letts, who plays McKinney, is no slouch either. His reaction to hearing "the news" from Segal was on point.
As for Brody, I guess deep down it was always in some way going to be more focused on Pat Riley. So it makes sense that the performance is slowly but surely taking center stage.

“The Man Who Fell To Earth” is pretty hacky so far, a lot like the film. It is a lot easier on the eye with the vastly superior cinematography, and soul with Chiwetel Ejiofor in the protagonist role and pseudo-Bowie as backup.
The story of this miniseries had better fix the original because it was pretty bad.

Was gonna pass on the live action Cowboy Bebop. The anime was as close to perfection as you can get and with the adaptation being canned after season 1, I didn't see much need to watch. Got bored and decided to watch anyways. Only a little ways in but it's better than what all the complaints I had heard made it seem. Hope it doesn't get terrible later.
I popped hard at the start of the second episode when the bounty hunter TV show came on. As soon as I heard the into for it I was marking out. Good shit there.

John Krakauer is a great writer.
Not a reliable narrator, but no great writer is.
I just like how Emile Hirsch and Andrew Garfield are polar opposites in terms of acting but are both perfect leads in their respective adaptations.

Yeah, I've rarely seen an adaptation miss the tone and and atmosphere of the source as badly as Cowboy Bebop. If you want to change things up and do your own thing that much, then fine, but make something original then, instead of an adaptation.
People probably wouldnt have disliked this as much if it was an original ip. Writing was still bad, but it may have lasted long enough to turn itself around instead of being immediately cancelled.

INdeed. Didn't they pitch it as a "shot for shot" remake of the anime early on?

Theres the occasional shot taken straight from the anime, but theres usually a brown or blue tint and all the color has been drained, making it look worse than the original.
Ironically, the best looking shots are the ones they came up with on their own. There are moments where the cinematography is very good. Thats the only really good thing I can say about the show.

I fell asleep recently when I tried to watch it for the first time in decades so I’m giving it another crack while I’m awake.
The sight gags are always good but the wordplay kills me.

I hope it’s still better than The Naked Gun, those movies leant heavily into the slapstick and the ratio was a bit off between that and the jokes. As far as I remember there are more gag routines in this.

It’s the same huge potential wasted in slightly different ways but this time it’s worse because there was actual quality in this one. I understand the story is about humanity corrupting Newton, but now they’re just rubbing it in.

Ran out of great shows to watch so I started “Police Squad!” again.
I fell asleep recently when I tried to watch it for the first time in decades so I’m giving it another crack while I’m awake.
The sight gags are always good but the wordplay kills me.
“Cigarette?”
“Yes, I know.”
I hope it’s still better than The Naked Gun, those movies leant heavily into the slapstick and the ratio was a bit off between that and the jokes. As far as I remember there are more gag routines in this.

Episode four of WWDITS is one of the best ever.
Joyously daft with the Vampire night market and the familiar fighting championship.
That’s the best of the new season but episode 3 was pretty great. Little Colin Robinson is phenomenal. He’s already ten times better than Groot or Grogu.

I liked it a lot when I got to the later seasons but the last couple were mediocre. I need a much higher standard of performance if the material is going to be so predictable and weak.

The Righteous Gemstones, it’s a lot better than any other tv stuff Danny McBride has done. Eastbound and Down was too mean spirited and that vice principals was hard to focus on because he was just playing the same guy he always does.

i could rave about the 1000 brilliant things the show did on its way to bringing it to a close but i think the thing that struck me most as a piece of writing is they managed to write a story that both has Saul face justice and let Jimmy cleanse his soul AND get the love of his woman AND not be idealic. Its just outlandish they managed this.

What they did here shouldnt even be technically possible. Im just dumbstruck. The 4 things they managed in the finale should be completely at odds and yet if you look at the show in totality it was always where we were heading. This is crafting years out with deliberate beats being hit along the way to bring us to a conclusion that is poignant, heart felt and precisely perfect to a level that borderlines absurdity.
Better Call Saul stands with the best shows ever made as a peer among giants that has few rivals, fewer equals, and fewer still betters and that's if it has any at all.
Once a box set is released im going to do a breakingbad/saul rewatchand if they dropped the box set tomorrow it wouldnt be soon enough.

This new Mike Tyson show is really quite good. Well written, brilliantly acted and the chemistry is all great. The real Mike seems to hate it but it has humanised him even more so than his own documentary did. Binging “Barry” this week because I watched a couple of episodes a while ago and then forgot about it. I’m kind of glad I did because I didn’t know anything about it and honestly it turns into a Sopranos-style tour de force fairly quickly.
You can’t even call it a comedy really, if it’s a comedy then my theory of The Sopranos being a comedy has to hold water.
It is exceptional television though, it is equal to every other truly great show in that it enforces its rules on you and you bend to them because the quality is so thickly portioned across the table.
The drama is actually better than the comedy, the comedy is purely a relief by season 3.

Any1 ever watch the non-hit HBO show "Rome"
Watched the first season and a couple of episodes of season 2... really like it
Wasn't liking it for like the first half of the first season but then started getting very good imho!
The first season of Rome was gold, and then before they even started filming season 2 it was announced that it would be cancelled, and they ended up trying to cram 2-3 seasons worth of stories into one, and suffered for it.
I recently watched House of Dragon, which I liked, though it lacks the humour and verbal jousting of GoT; it is kind of like season 5 of that show. After HoD, I decided to re-watch GoT, and I'd forgotten just how good seasons 1 to 4 were, and the crap-fest it became in season 6 to 8. It saddened me.

LOL @ naming a network show that’s on repeat on several channels at once.
R.I.P. Sean Lock, killed by being forced to work with spastics
Watched The Traitors. A reality-game show type that I don’t usually go in for but this was captivating.
S2 of American Horror Stories. Average.

Doing a rewatch of breaking bad. Show is just as good on multiple viewings. Took 4 days off from my schedule between the 2nd and 3rd season to watch some movies but im really eager to jump back in. Really a testament to just how good the show is.
Easily top 5 of all time.
